I'm a former Superhost who stepped away from VRBO after a serious injury. Unfortunately, my previous reviews--always 5.0--did not save. My reviews are available on another popular site.
The Wilen Cabin is Smoky Bear’s favorite look out spot! This 2100 sq ft cabin on a half acre comfortably accommodates up to 15. The view from the living room is fantastic, the wood burning stove is filled and ready for you to light, and the bedding is always fresh! We really take pride in the bedding!
You won’t have to bring your own wood and you won’t have to pack up your trash when you leave, like most hosts require. Plus our driveway is one of the few on the mountain that’s completely flat.
Technology allows us to heat or cool the home before you arrive and we’ll have the living room and kitchen lights on if you arrive after sundown, with the deck lights illuminated out back too. You’ll feel so welcomed!
Step inside and select a homemade treat and enjoy taking the tour of this fabulous home. (I'll ask if you prefer rice krispy treats, a smores starter kit, or cinnamon cheesecake when you book)
What You’ll Find on the Main Floor:
Step into a fully stocked kitchen, designed to make your packing lighter. I remember when I used to rent on the mountain—I had to bring everything so I’m sharing all my kitchen supplies. You’ll find kitchen towels, cleaning cloths, cleaning supplies, dish soap, and more, including plastic wrap, aluminum foil, storage baggies, and trash bags. Theres plenty of dishes and silverware and we keep a selection of Teflon and stainless steel cooking pans. There’s a large freezer for your use and a coffee station with coffee pods, coffee creamers, hot chocolate, and tea bags. You’ll find a variety of seasonings, sugar, oil, and more.
The open-concept living room offers breathtaking mountain views—you can literally watch the clouds drift between the peaks from the comfort of the couch. We’ve added wood to the wood burning stove for you. Just light it up! We’ve fully stocked the wood bin for your use to save you the inconvenience and cost of buying wood.
From the living room windows, with FULL Mountain views, watch the deer outside who’ve made our yard part of their stomping ground. They’ll await you to toss them some apple slices.
We always leave craft supplies and activities for children—learning activities like Smoky Bear activity books. I also have a collection of children’s books in the living room and upstairs. I’ll customize these “extras” if you let me know the ages of your children when you book. We definitely welcome children at our cabin!
Also on the main floor, two spacious, well-stocked bathrooms, one has a heated toilet seat for those cold winter mornings. All three bathrooms contain soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. We have two water heaters so two people can shower at the same time. No need to bring your own towels or wash cloths.
From the kitchen, step outside the back patio deck with gas BBQ and deck. BBQ utensils are supplied along with propane for the fire pit. The deck lights and hanging cafe lights are gorgeous! Use our campfire roasting sticks for your marshmallows.
The large king suite is located at the end of the hallway next door to the main bathroom. You’ll find an electric blanket and extra kitchen supplies in the closets. There are two benches for you to set backpacks or suitcases on. We’ve also just added a faux wood burning fireplace for additional heat and ambience.
New plush carpeting throughout much of the downstairs adds warmth in the winter, making lounging even more enjoyable, especially for toddlers and babies. We chose carpeting as an environmentally friendly choice.
Upstairs:
Relax in the large media room/bedroom with a Smart TV where you can access your viewing subscriptions or choose a DVD from the large collection. (You’ll find drawers filled with them). Enjoy the comfortable furnishings and a workspace—perfect for a laptop or a kid’s coloring station. The space also features a queen sleeper sofa, three twin beds, and a super comfortable couch. Two camping cots are also available.
A massive bedroom offers one queen bed and two doubles. It has its own air conditioner and plug in heater.
The third bathroom is my favorite! It’s cottage-themed, large, and fully stocked.
Every sleeping arrangement in the home is designed for ultimate comfort, ensuring restful nights for everyone. All bedding on the 8 beds and sofa sleeper—from sheets, blankets, and comforters/quilts—are freshly laundered.

Our cabin is one of the few properties in Camp Nelson with a flat driveway and lot, making it easy to navigate year-round.
In the winter, the main road is promptly plowed from 8 am until sundown. Winter arrival should be before 5 pm if it is snowing.
This vintage home is a perfect getaway, with plenty of space to stretch out and relax, no matter the season. And did we mention? Three bathrooms, two separate water heaters, and a heated toilet seat for those chilly days!
