we stayed a week and it was wonderful. the location could not be better, plenty of parking room, we had trailer with UTV. Rode the Alpine Loop, drove right from our cabin. town is just a short drive so no town traffic near. New remodel in the cabin was really nice. Used the grill by the porch, worked very well. When we come back we will stay here again but for longer next time.
Big Bear cabin provided a relaxing escape from the 100+ degree temperatures in Texas with beautiful views of Lake San Cristobal and the surrounding mountains. Fishing was good from the lakeside area and the stars at night were phenomenal!
Will do negative and end with positive!
Lots of flies, moved the grill and cleaned grease trap and killed many inside and this helped. Also many mice, could hear them at night running around inside and on carpet. No bathroom curtain, would have been nice to have one at least half way up. No kitchen toaster, and mirror in both bedrooms would be nice and quicker getting dressed, inexpensive to remedy.
Place was pretty clean, beds comfortable, kitchen (minus) toaster) was utensil stocked and lots of pots and pans. Great heater.. Could use a little TLC on outside....but it met our basic needs and close into town and could see "a little of the lake"..would probably try a different vrbo next time....pfm
Enjoyed our stay. Cabin was as pictured and has everything we needed. Checkin was very easy. We rented here so that we could access Alpine Loop on our atvs and also kayak the lake. It was perfect for both!
We stayed at this cabin for our annual summer trip to the Alpine Loop. This cabin has plenty of parking for trailers and direct access to the Alpine Loop in your OHV. I would say the cabin is much better than what I expected as the photos were a bit dark. All the furniture, linens and kitchen supplies are good quality. There is a picnic table and grill outside and also a firepit for evening fires. Stargazing is awesome! I will add there is no AC, but it's not needed and the cabin stayed very cool during the day. Opening the windows at night when it was colder helped it stay cool during the day. This was important because we had taken our 2 dogs along and they enjoyed a long siesta while we were offroading. There is a heater and a fireplace/stove inside if it gets too cool. It's just a short 5 min or less walk down to the lake. I would stay here again and I recommend this cabin for the direct access to the trails and it's only 2 miles from Lake City for shopping and dining.
Loved the location. We were able to ride our ATV’s around the Alpine Loop without having to trailer them. The cabin had everything that we needed. Beautiful area and cabin had extras we were not expecting-propane grill, outdoor lawn chairs, covered porch with picnic table. I cannot think of any negatives. When we come back to this area we will definitely try to stay here again!
The cabin was very nice and well apportioned. Its location next to the lake made it a great place for fishing. The fishing itself was outstanding, one of the best fishing spots in Colorado that I've experienced.
