About this property
Sarah’s Entire Apt @ the Historic McCormick House
Enjoy a unique stay at this stately 1860's Italianate home built by James J. McCormick. The large staircase in the center foyer leads you to a private apartment with original radiators and 10 foot tall ceilings. Your stay will have the 19th century charm with modern amenities. A kitchen capable of cooking meals, a designated work space and a bright bathroom with a shower/tub combo to get ready for local adventures that await you!
This 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom unit on the second floor, which spans the entire south side of the main portion of the home. The bedroom features a queen bed, blackout full-length curtains and even a noise machine! The closet and dresser with a mirror offers flat and hanging space and room for your luggage.
The living room has a pull-out sofa bed for 2 additional guests, with all of the needed linens. There is plenty of lighting for a good read, watching a good movie on the Smart TV or even working at a dedicated desk.
The kitchen is fully functional with everything you need to prepare your own meals. Full-size stove and refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and much more! The table can seat up to 4.
The bathroom is small but mighty! There are plenty of linens and hanging space for towels, as well as a removable shower head.
A washer and dryer available for all guests to use on the main floor.
The McCormick house has served many purposes over the last 150 years but is currently a 6-unit apartment building. The home sits up on a hill with a large open area to enjoy a sit on the swing, a glass of wine on the porch or a picnic lunch on the grass. The large porch that spans the entire width of the home, has views of the Saginaw River. There is a shared patio at the back of the home where guests can dine or relax.
Nicole, my co-host is not located on-site but is available in person should the need arrive. She is just a call or text away to help if needed.
Across the street from the Saginaw River and Bigelow Park. Kayak rentals available. Less than 1 mile from the Uptown Business District, including Dow Chemical, Mclaren Medical Offices, bars, restaurants and shopping, with Downtown Bay City another few blocks beyond.
Free parking directly behind building. Also overflow parking available on-street, except during snow events.
The two-story home has 4 units available for nightly stays. This is a great place to stay if you love history, 19th century architecture and charm of the past. Search for James, Joseph, Sarah or Elizabeth McCormick. With 4 units, sleeping a total of 4 per unit, it is an excellent option for large groups such as weddings, family reunions, work travel, festivals, etc.
