About this property

Rustic Lake Michigamme Hideaway

Cozy log cabin nestled in the woods on beautiful Lake Michigamme. In winter, enjoy snowmobiling (with trailer parking), cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or ice fishing right from your doorstep. Centrally located, it’s a perfect base for exploring UP attractions. After a day out, unwind by the fire. In summer, kayak, fish, or swim off the dock, with many beautiful hiking areas nearby to explore. Start your day with breathtaking sunrises and end with peaceful lake views—a true UP retreat!

This cozy log cabin offers two main-floor bedrooms with queen beds and a full bath, plus an upstairs loft with two twin beds and a bathroom featuring a charming clawfoot tub. The cabin includes a full kitchen with a dining table, a comfortable living room, and a large deck equipped with a picnic table and grill—perfect for outdoor meals. Follow a rugged path down to the lake, where you’ll find a dock ready for your boat during the summer months, along with kayaks and a fishing boat available for guest use.

The cabin is nestled approximately 5 miles down a scenic gravel road off the main road, offering a true retreat into nature. While the road is accessible, we recommend a 4-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive vehicle for comfortable access, especially in winter months. Guests have full access to the cabin, large deck, yard, dock, kayaks, and fishing boat, along with nearby trails. Parking is available on-site, including space for trailers.

Cabin is located in a remote, wooded area outside of Michigamme. The town of Michigamme itself (an approximate 10-minute drive) has a gas station/market with a good selection of groceries. The town also has the historic Mt. Shasta restaurant, Moose Drop Inn, and the Crock and Rocker gift shop. Public boat launch with beautiful sandy beach is approximately 10 minutes away also.

The cabin is located down a long gravel road approximately 10 minutes from the paved road (please adhere to the posted speed limit).

Once you are on the paved road and in the town of Michigamme, the following is a list of distances to towns/attractions:

Michigamme Beach/boat launch: 10 minutes from property in town of Michigamme
Van Riper State Park: 8 minutes (7 miles)
Tioga Park: 11 min (11 miles) (frequent moose sightings!!!)
Craig Lake State Park: 29 minutes (7.6 miles down gravel road)
Canyon Falls: 21 minutes (21 miles)
Ishpeming: 25 minutes (23 miles)
Marquette: 44 minutes (37 miles)
Bond Falls: 59 min (55 miles)
Iron Mountain: 66 min (63 miles)
Pictured Rocks: 98 min (98 miles)
Keweenaw Peninsula: 75 min
Houghton/Hancock: 67 min (62 miles)
Lake of the Clouds: 1 hr 42 min (102 miles)
Tahquamenon Falls: 3 hrs (168 miles)
Mackinac Bridge: 3 hrs 28 minutes (203 miles)

Please note that, as the cabin is nestled in the woods, the mosquito population can be high during summer months. We recommend planning accordingly by bringing bug spray or other preferred repellents to ensure a comfortable stay.
