About this property

New Mountain Home Minutes from Downtown Asheville & Spectacular Views

Gorgeous brand new mountain home! Have the best of both worlds with these wonderful mountain views while truly being only 3 minutes from downtown Asheville.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In Asheville our house is only allowed 30 day minimum. The daily price listed here reflects what our house rents for on a monthly basis whether that is one month or twelve. Gas, electric, internet, etc. are always included at the roughly $5400/month.

Grab your clothes and toothbrush and escape to our private home nestled in the mountains just a few minutes up Town Mountain Road from the center of Asheville. The gated drive is highlighted by mature trees, rock outcroppings, and abundant wildlife. On the other hand, if you forgot to get milk, you can zip down to the nearest grocery store in a minute or so.

Wide plank pine hard wood flooring, stained glass windows, shabby chic antiques, a wall of windows, two story wood burning fireplace open to the great room and kitchen are a few of the unique features at the misty mountain home. The brand new, fully equipped eat-in kitchen has everything you need for a quiet meal or holiday party (including dishwasher, garbage disposal, and cold filtered water).

This old world cabin boasts salvage beams in an open floor plan... cozy yet spacious with great flow.

When you've finished your day, you'll retire to VERY comfortable beds. These pillow top mattresses will lull you to sleep in no time! King in the master, Queen in the second bedroom, and two twins (can be combined) in the third bedroom.

If you still need space for more people, the down filled pit group couch can sleep two more. It's very comfy... and I'm speaking from experience!

If you've had enough of the outdoors, you'll be glad to know you can veg out in front of the brand new 60' 3D Flat screen HDTV. It's connected to the net, so watch tons of cable channels, Netflix, YouTube, or whatever grabs your fancy.

The outdoor decks include ample eating space and a gas grill.

Put on your hiking boots and go for miles, or just 20 minutes. Many beautiful hikes and scenic views are just down the road on the Blue Ridge Parkway. That's right, all this AND you're only 7 minutes off the Blue Ridge Parkway!

Here's something else. The peaceful front yard is the perfect place to romp and roam. You don't often find a mountain side home with enough yard to play badminton!

This home has everything you need for a perfect Asheville stay.

Exactly as described....but even better!

A little late on writing my review, but better late than never (stayed 09/18/14-09/21/14). I rented this house for myself and five girlfriends to celebrate my 50th birthday. It was perfect! Plenty of beds, plenty of bathrooms for six women. There is a beautiful screened in porch that looks out over the mountains and Asheville to unwind on after a long day at the Biltmore Estate. The house is decorated very cool with up cycled pieces and antiques. It feels very secluded but is actually very close to downtown Asheville and grocery stores, etc. The owners even provided a bottle of wine to get the celebration started :) I highly recommend it and would definitely stay here again. Enjoy!

Mountain house close to town

What a beautiful property!! The house is spacious and well appointed. The views of the mountains are beautiful and peaceful even though the neighborhood is not all that secluded. Downtown Asheville is only minutes away by car, and you are a 20-30 minute drive to the Blue Ridge Pkwy. This is the house to go to for communal living with lots of space for privacy if you want some time alone. Everything you might want is there and the owners were receptive to our questions. They provided intensely detailed information about how to work the locks, stove, wifi, and remotes. Very helpful when you enter someone else's property. We would definitely consider this place again for a future trip to Asheville.

Beautiful and comfortable

This was a perfect setting for the girls getaway. We had considered rooms at Grove Park Inn but really wanted to spend all of our time together and this worked out perfectly for us. The house was conveniently located to everything we wanted to do and we could get there in a matter of minutes. The owners provided recommendations for places to go and restaurants. They were fabulous in working with us to have an enjoyable time. We look forward to returning in the near future!!

Perfect Weekend Getaway!

This was the perfect place to stay for our annual girls trip to Asheville. In years past we have stayed in hotels, but wanted a place where the six of us could all be together. Wow! Did we make a great choice! The house is beautiful, extremely well maintained, and very accommodating. The owners were great to work with and quick to answer any questions. We were able to hike, shop, visit restaurants and enjoy all Asheville has to offer just minutes from the house. A few of us are already planning another trip with our husbands and we will be reserving this house for our next Asheville vacation. Simply loved everything this rental had to offer!

Cozy, clean, sun-filled, beautiful home, ideally located

Our family of 5 stayed here for a long weekend at the beginning of November and just loved it. The home is beautiful, very clean, and oh so comfortable with down-filled couches, great mattresses on the beds and all the amenities you need. We particularly liked relaxing in the living area - by day it was wonderfully sunny and had a great view and by night we made fires and cozied up in the arm chairs near the hearth. The house has many antiques but all the modern amenities. For us it was ideally located. It is set in the woods on a hilltop so you feel like civilization is miles away yet it is only about a 10 minute drive to downtown Asheville. Finally, the owners were highly responsive and clearly take great care of their home. We have many years of vacation rental experience and are quite picky so it means a lot when I say we'd stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone headed to Asheville.

Amazing!

What an amazing home! We can't say enough about how wonderful of a home this is to stay and enjoy Asheville. New but decorated so cute like a farm house. The kitchen was just great for cooking breakfast and having everyone in the kitchen to chat. Five minutes to downtown and just beautiful for the fall and leaf views. We have 2 more days to go and couldn't wait to leave a review. This experience is going to become and annual event. Thanks for all the hospitality and we are so enjoying your home.

Great house close to downtown, yet secluded

Beautiful, spacious house that is close to downtown Asheville and has great views from the back deck. Owners are very nice and accommodating. It fit our group (6 adults) perfectly and we hope to return next year.

June visit

Had fun sharing the house with family. We were hoping to see a bear, but only saw a chipmunk and a rabbit. We were close to downtown and the Blue Ridge Parkway, so had plenty of places to visit. The house has some interesting features, a chicken coop coffee table, reclaimed doors and wood, old time stove and more. It only rained in the evening and that was enjoyable for us, since it rarely rains in Southern CA. The road is a bit narrow and you have to back out of the drive, otherwise the place was great.

Beautiful Cabin Retreat!

I just returned from an amazing weekend in Asheville. If you stay at this cabin, you will not be disappointed! It cozy yet very spacious. The kitchen is large and is connected to a great screened-in room with scenic views. The cabin is a 10 minute drive to downtown. Amazing place. We would love to return.

We total enjoyed our stay. We even have a little snow the day before Thanksgiving. The photo and description was exactly what we received. The home was well-maintained and the owner was great to deal with. Would highly recommend this home. Would like to return again.

Amazing weekend getaway!

I can't say enough good things about this house. Immediately upon walking through the front door, we were all blown away by the attention to detail from the architectural design to the decour. All the beds and furniture were extremely comfortable and the large gathering room with the double-sided fireplace was the perfect setting for catching up with family and relaxing. What makes this house really special is its proximity to downtown Asheville. You feel secluded, but you're just a mile away from all the shops, restaurants and breweries. As someone who used to live in Asheville, this is the premiere location for a rental house. Would definitely stay here again.

HOUSE EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS!

WHAT A FUN PLACE TO GATHER TO CATCH UP WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS! WE HAD A GREAT TIME IN ASHEVILLE. VISITED THE BILTMORE THAT WAS DECORATED FOR CHRISTMAS, HIKED A FEW MOUNTAIN TRAILS CLOSEBY AND ENJOYED EVENINGS BY THE FIRE IN THIS BEAUTIFUL HOME. WOULD LOVE TO COME BACK. Just a couple of things needed to make it complete...a few more wine glasses...a coffee pot...we had a French press which was nice but needed large pot for a large gathering every morning.

Great weekend, amazing house.

We (6 adults, 3 couples) arrived on a Thursday afternoon, directions to the house provided by the owner were much appreciated, even with modern GPS. I have to say, I looked at all the photos of the house online and had a very good idea what to expect. It turned out that all of our expectations were blown away, this house is absolutely amazing. I applaud the builder, architect and designer, they did an amazing job. It's not too often we go on vacation and don't want to leave the house/hotel, but I promise you will NOT be upset about a day, or evening in cooking with friends and enjoying everything this property has to offer. Our vacation revolved mostly around food, beer and site seeing, three things Asheville is well known for. I could go on for days about how wonderful Asheville is, but for this review I want to stress how amazing this house is. If I can wrap it up in just a few words, I hope the owners don't decide to retire too soon. We really hope to continue visiting in the years to come. You could not ask for anything better than what this property has to offer. Bravo!

Great Girl's Weekend!

The Vance Gap home was exactly as listed and the pictures are even better in person! Absolutely beautiful with personal touches, all the conveniences, and everything needed for our group to feel right at home. The house was spotless and all the linens were top of the line. Sara was helpful, pleasant and easy to work with. As stated, downtown Asheville was a short drive away and we certainly took advantage of excellent shopping and dining. Thanks!

Relaxing Getaway

Just returned from this amazing cabin. Beautiful decor! The photos do not do this cabin justice. We loved all the antique furnishings. We felt so relaxed in this peaceful home. This cabin is so convenient to anything you want to visit in the Asheville area. The owners have thought of all the details and have made this a great place to stay when visiting the area. We visited the Biltmore House and Chimney Rock. Enjoyed meals at Tupelo Honey and Farm Burger and desserts at French Broad Chocolate Lounge (all Downtown Asheville). Also tried Biscuit Head, on Haywood Rd. Yum! Ended our trip with dinner on the Sunset Terrace at The Grove Park Inn. We loved it all!

Beautiful home

We (2 families with 2 kids each) stayed 3 nights in this amazing home. Warm, inviting, romantic, clean, full of character. Fun to hang out in by the fire (grown ups played games in kitchen while the kids watched 3D movies) Kitchen was well stocked so we could eat in and relax. Laundry there so you can pack lightly and even bring home clean clothes. Lots of room for all 8 of us. We spent one day hanging out by the fire (bad weather) and we all had fun. We spent another day (beautiful weather) exploring Chimney Rock, about 40 mins away. It was a fast 3 days and we hope we can come back for a longer visit in the not so distant furture. You have a beautiful home Sara, you are very lucky.

Perfect vacation property in Asheville!

Our group of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is beautiful, clean, and spacious, with a nice balance of rustic decor (lovely antiques cleverly placed throughout the home, etc.) and modern amenities (big screen 3D tv in the 2nd floor loft, etc). The views from the living room windows and back porch are majestic, but the house itself is less than 5 minutes from the shops and restaurants downtown Asheville (only a couple miles, but the roads are narrow and winding). The house also has a lovely open concept, and the kitchen is perfect for entertaining. The front yard does seem to need landscaping and perhaps a parking pad, but it seems clear that the owners are continuing to work on the home, so such a project may already be in the works. The owners were incredibly nice, accommodating, and easy to work with, and an extremely thoughtful note and surprise awaited us upon our arrival. Ultimately, I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a vacation in the NC mountains!

One of the Best VRBO Properties!

I have stayed at many VRBO properties and this is one of the best! The home is absolutely gorgeous and offers a very homey yet eclectic feel. No expense was spared from the Wolfgang Puck cookware, wonderful sofa in media room and extremely comfortable beds. If you are staying in Asheville and looking for a great family vacation home...this is it! Sarah, you have a beautiful home and we will stay again. Thank you for your awesome hospitality!

Anniversary Getaway

What an amazing home! The location was perfect....house overlooks Asheville so you have a gorgeous view yet are only minutes away from downtown. We thoroughly enjoyed the fireplace during the first snowfall of the year. The home is decorated with a rustic flare which made it feel very cozy. Greg and Sara were very helpful. We had one issue and they responded and helped us immediately. My husband and I stayed there for our anniversay however the house could easily accomodate 6 people. I highly recommend this property and hope to go back and stay there again soon!

Stunning Home!

The house truly is a 3 minute drive to downtown Asheville. Beautiful new home decorated with lovely antiques. Very large fully stocked kitchen with huge dining room table. Perfect weekend getaway for a family of 4 plus grandparents. We all had plenty of room and the older folks appreciated the ground floor master bedroom. Double sided fireplace (kitchen/living room) was a treat! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Excellent Location, Furnishings and Experience...

I don't write a lot of reviews, but this house definitely deserves one. From the wine and cheese the owners graciously gave us as a welcoming gift to the fantastic reclaimed wood used for construction, Vance Gap is outstanding. The owners are very receptive and great at communication, the house was better than advertised, location was top notch, and ultimately one of those places you look back on in fondness. LOTS of room, and everything that one needs to be comfortable. My family and I rent a lot from VRBO and travel the world extensively. Be assured that when we come back to Asheville, we will be staying at Vance Gap again! Thanks!

Wonderful Home

The pictures don't do this home justice! Everything was as portrayed in the listing. Great location 5 minutes outside of town but completely private and nestled in the mountain woods, Very unique construction and cool furnishings. All the amenities you need and more. Highly recommended, we'd certainly stay there again. Thanks for everything Greg and Sara!

We are from Chicago, Illinois and come down as often as we can. We decided to rent our home out to caring guests because we wanted to share the fun and love we have for Asheville with others.

Why they chose this property

We found out about Asheville from some friends in 2005. After our first visit, we were hooked. Being from Chicago, where it can take four hours (of traffic) just to get to a decent park, we couldn't believe the abundance of nature coupled with the culture or Asheville city life. We've been coming for years, and finally finished our dream home. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

What makes this property unique

Private mountain home with incredible views, yet only 3 minutes away from thriving Asheville downtown.
