Venice Area Description and History:
Venice is one of the few cities on Florida's West Coast without a barrier island. The soft white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico form the western boundary of Venice. Fourteen miles (22.5 km) of beaches from Casey Key to Manasota Key offer unparalleled recreational opportunities including: swimming, sunbathing, fishing and boating. Shelling is also a favorite pastime, and fossilized sharks teeth can be found in abundance by sifting through the sand. Golfers enjoy excellent courses in the greater Venice area.

Venice is a Florida Main Street City; northern Italian architecture and beautifully landscaped boulevards that date back to the original city plans of 1925 grace its downtown. A historical treasure, Venice was originally called 'Horse and Chaise,' suggested by a tree formation along the coast. The settlement was named Venice after the canal city in Italy in 1888. Venice is a pleasant getaway for the vacationer who wants to relax and enjoy the Florida sunshine.

Things to Do in Venice:
Take a walk along the miles of golden, sandy, uncrowded beach to search for shells or fossilized shark’s teeth. Venice is known as the 'Shark's Tooth Capital of the World.' Sunbathe, swim, or fish in the surf.

Enjoy golfing at any one of the seven public golf courses located within the Venice area. At nearby Fisherman’s Wharf, you can rent scuba & snorkel gear. You may also try catching that big one at the Venice public 750-foot long fishing pier.

Stroll along Venice Avenue in the historic downtown area of Venice Island that is very much alive with exciting activities, shopping, and dining. Browse the many quaint specialty shops. Play tennis or basketball at the municipal courts located just beyond the downtown area. Take in a Broadway play or musical at the Venice Little Theater. The activities are endless!

All shopping, restaurants, supermarkets, golf, tennis, charter-fishing, pier-fishing, water sports, theater, and the Venice area hospital are within a 5 minute drive.

Venice Area Restaurants and Regional Attractions:
There are many area restaurants with several of them having an oceanfront or waterfront view. These include: Sharky's on the Pier (a must - Sunday night is “Reggae Night” featuring a live Calypso Band), Marker 4 Oyster Bar which has a Friday night fish fry, and The Crow’s Nest Marina Restaurant. For those landlubbers, try Luna Ristorante (great Italian fare), Ntinos Pizzeria and Restaurant (inexpensive and plentiful), Saltwater Café (superb seafood), Gold Rush Barbeque (great baby back ribs), and MI Pueblo Mexican Restaurant (Muy Bueno Mexican food and Mariachis too).

Regional Attractions:
Sarasota Kennel Club Dog Racing, Ringling Brothers Circus and Art Museums, the Mote Marine Aquarium and Laboratory, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, Sarasota Jungle Gardens, The Gulf coast Wonder and Imagination Zone, and the Museum of Cars and Music which are all located in Sarasota only 30 minutes north of Venice. Fort Myers is 1 hour south; Tampa and Busch Gardens are 1.5 hours north.

The beach location was exactly what we wanted.

The beach was a couple of minutes walk! Enjoyed the sunsets and walking along the beach. The kitchen in the condo could use some updating but all in all the place was okay.

Wonderful place to stay just steps away from a private beach with no crowds.

Wonderful lodging, just right for my daughter and myself for a quick getaway. Had everything we needed for comfort and our trips to our private beach. The host, Kevin, was very friendly and very prompt in addressing any questions that we had. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, other than it was just way too short. Will definitely come back to this location and looking forward to our next trip. We would definitely recommend!

Family vacation

We really enjoyed our stay, the only complaint I have the wi-fi was not very good. It would disconnect itself and was really slow but other than that we loved the place.

Nice little billa

We were pleased with the Villa . The villa had beach chairs , umbrellas, and shark teeth baskets that we thought was wonderful to have for us to use. There was a friendly neighborly atmosphere. We enjoyed being so close to the beach as well as the pool . We like to walk . We felt sale walking and discovered the parks close by . We liked being on the island and so close to the town .

Unit is dated. Bathroom is updated w fiberglass but, for instance, there is a shelf overhanging thay

The proximity to beach is good. The beds are very worn out, so sleep was not good. It is a quiet location, but, glad I didn’t need to cook and clean up, as very limited provisions.

Pooll very nice. Front door has some issues and the Internet/wifi was not working properly but I I'm sure those are things that are easily remedied.

Wonderful Beach location!!

We were sent an email prior to leaving, that communicated clearly, everything we needed to know. The condo was perfect, very clean and comfortable for the 4 of us. It was stocked with clean linen, towels and other necessary stuff. The location was near almost everything. When on a second day we went to the beach and after a couple hours digging, we found 7 shark teeth and various shells. It was a very wonderful and memorable vacation for our family! We definitely thinking to coming back over there again.

Quiet beach hideaway

This is a nice single story beach condo. The condo is well equipped and comfortably furnished in beach chic. The is a bedroom (two double beds) an enclosed patio/gallery and a kitchen dinette. It is a very short walk out the front door to the beach. Equipped with a small refrigerator, stove/oven. No dishwasher. Internet access is spotty for those who must have. Air conditioning and ceiling fans allow for comfortable temperatures.

the month of march spent uncomfortably!!!

The property rented march 20018 has a good location, however it needs a thorough cleaning, updating. Furniture and rugs were soiled, kitchen utensils and pans need upgrading. We would not recomend. Very uncomfortable. p ropen a potentionly great piece of property however, you must understand that it needs a thorough update as far as cleanliness. Clean or rip out the stained rugs, take out the extra chairs and update couches, put new blinds in linai, put a set of stainless steel pots in kitchen, get rid of antique utensils, get a routine cleaning service , clean out closets of clutter, update tv,. Units must be clean without dirty laundry from previous r enters.Your units have a bad reputation. Shape up!

Stayed 10 minutes, then left.

We rented this place so our daughter and her friend could find sharks teeth but that never happened. The place is small. Kitchen, living room, dining room are all the same 10x10 room. The couch is old(my guess is from the 80’s)and it opened to a sleeper sofa that had grass clippings on a mattress that was just Springs covered by a thin layer of cloth. Very uncomfortable. I was not making my daughter and her friend sleep there. Bed mattresses were new according to owner but very firm. Bedroom carpet was stained in multiple places. Beach rentals should never have carpet for this reason. The tv room/lanai in the pictures is useless because it’s an enclosed porch with no a/c in the 95 degree summer of Florida. It’s a room to store beach toys but you won’t want to spend any time out there. Brought all of this to the attention of the owner and he said the stains were recent, didn’t know about the sleeper mattress and the bedroom mattresses were 6 months old. Said he was upset to hear that we weren’t staying but never an apology or offer of a partial refund. Not even an offer to refund the cleaning fee in a place we didn’t stay in. Disappointed to say the least we drove 2 hours back home.

Beaches, pool, and relaxation

This place is not the biggest, but we didn’t spend much time inside. The beach is 40 yds away with a walk to the end of the parking lot. We loved this because we could come and go with our young kids without having to load up the car. We found sharks teeth and cool shells. We also visited Caspersen Beach just 5 mins down the road by car. Lots of cool stuff going on in that area too visit too. Overall this place serves our needs as a family of 5 and we would come back anytime.

Close to the beach

The location is a short walk down to the beach. The condo is in rough shape, carpet stained, bathroom caulking needs to be cleaned up. Slats in the curtians in the bedroom were missing so you didnt have full privacy. The door to the back area was cut and it rained making the indoor outdoor carpet wet. There are plenty of dishes. Cooking utencils, towels and beach items and it was quiet.

Why they chose this property

We chose to purchase vacation rental condominiums in Venice Florida because of our beachfront location and the quiet uncrowded atmosphere surrounding our villas. In addition, Venice is known for its friendly, small-town feel, its quaint shopping center of low-rise buildings that are primarily in a Mediterranean style, and its lovely boulevard shaded by giant live oaks that extends from downtown to the beckoning beach. The beach, starting at the northern edge of the city where the Venice jetties open a passage from the Intra-coastal Waterway to the Gulf of Mexico, extends for miles. Much of it is undeveloped and merges into Sarasota County’s Caspersen Beach Park. Prehistoric sharks' teeth (there is no problem with sharks) are found on the beaches at Venice and Caspersen. Venice is known as the “Shark’s Tooth Capital of the World.” In addition to the lovely beach, a central park along Venice's main street, Venice Avenue, is the site of concerts, arts and craft shows, and various special events. Besides visiting the quaint shops, boutiques, and the central park along Venice Avenue, Venice offers many other activities to its residents and guests alike. There are many public golf courses to enjoy in the Venice area for the golf enthusiast. Fishermen have an abundance of areas to sport for that big catch too. Fishing is very popular at the 750 foot long Venice Municipal Fishing Pier located on Venice Island. In addition, the North and South Jetty's are also very popular for fishing. Of course, much fishing is also done in the surf directly on the beaches. The most common response of people who move here or who return each year to visit, is, “When we drove down Venice Avenue past the shops and parks and saw the beach, we knew this was where we wanted to be.” We invite you to see for yourself. We trust that you'll enjoy Venice Florida and our villas just as much as we do and will take pleasure in all that Venice, Florida has to offer!!

What makes this property unique

Some of the unique benefits that you'll enjoy while staying at our vacation rental villas are as follows: Our condominium complex sits directly on Golden Beach, right on the Gulf of Mexico. This allows our guests to take a very short walk to reach our beachfront. In addition, Venice Island provides a 5-10 minute convenient drive to all area amenities including: the downtown shopping district, grocery stores, restaurants, lounges, golf courses, theater, fishing holes, the area hospital, etc. If you enjoy open-air dining, be sure to stop by 'Sharky's on the Pier' for your tropical dining experience. On Sunday evenings, they also have a Reggae band that is very fun to dance to!!
