About this property
Woodland Wonderland: 40 acres, a Home, a Cabin, & a Pond
Juliane James Place is 40 acres of wonderful carved out of the Minnesota countryside between the Cities and Duluth. We’re an hour south of Duluth and 90 minutes north of the Cities.
JJP is different than other cabin rentals "up north." We created a space that is charming and cozy, while still modern(ish). We don’t believe in charge extra for pets but we do have a cleaning fee that goes straight to real people who really care for the property and clean it really well.
There is hunting, snowmobiling, fishing, skiing, snowshoeing, antiquing, & lake access within 20 minutes.
The main house is available year round, the adjacent cabin is available June through October.
The property consists of a main house, a cabin, and large pond. May through November both the main house and the cabin are for rent.
When you book JJP from November-May, you are renting the main house that can sleep 4 in real beds, and up to 8 if you bring an air mattress or don't mind the couches (they are amazingly comfortable). It's a two bedroom house with a fireplace, large deck and porch, a fully-equipped kitchen, a loft space with a writing desk with a view overlooking the property, a master bedroom (king bed), a bedroom (queen bed) and two bathrooms.
——
June-October, along with the main house, you also rent the cabin that can sleep up to an additional 8 (1 queen, 1 full, and 4 twins, including a pull out trundle couch) with a wood burning stove and no running water. The cabin bathroom is a cute outhouse with electricity, but is a short walk back to the house for bathrooms and water. You also get all 40 acres complete with a huge pond.
Our place is a relaxing getaway for travelers of all sorts making their way through rural Minnesota. If you are planning a trip to Minneapolis/St. Paul, check out Juliane James to get a well-rounded experience of just how fantastic Minnesota is. We are a wedding venue and vacation rental where everyone is welcome to celebrate. We do not book weddings through vacation rental sites for insurance reasons nor allow events or parties on the property through them. Look up Juliane James Place online if you want to book a wedding with us!
We have plenty of parking room for an RV in the driveway (no hook-up) and for parking your boat if you are planning day trips to any of the many lakes near to us. We have a washer and dryer on the premises. We provide you with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash to use while you are here.
You’re on your own for the internet via your hotspots though. Some day soon the local internet options will be faster, but 2025 still isn’t our year for that yet. :)

About the host
Hosted by Alyson Newquist

I am Cultural Geographer, the owner of a boutique wedding venue stealthily doubling as a vacation rental in its off time, and the CEO of catering and venue management company. I live in South Minneapolis with my husband, TJ, my two-year old son, Five, and our dog and cat.
I believe life is comprised of moments in need of celebrating and that we should go to bed happier than when we woke up, even when intense things happen in our lives. I cross the street to pet dogs. I bought my rental property to carve out a space where happy happens and folks can feel safe in the middle of nowhere
Either me or my best friend Jessica, whose company manages our property will be who you communicate with about the property.
