About this property
West Lake - 118 ft lakefront on Egralharve Point with boat hoist
5BR/4BA 2 story West Lake Okoboji home on 118′ lakefront lot, dock/hoist
Set in the heart of the Iowa Great Lakes Region, our vacation home awaits your family’s arrival. Our home is a very comfortable 5 bedroom/4 bath home (approx. 3500 sf) and can accommodate up to 16 people in beds. It’s perfect for multiple-family vacations or reunions. It’s located on a 118 foot wide lot overlooking West Okoboji from the Egralharve Point, just north of Village West.
I would like to take a moment to tell you a little more about our house. We did a massive remodel on the house in 2019 with a new roof, mostly new windows, new back deck, new hardwood flooring on the main level, increased the kitchen size by about 50% and redid the three main floor bathrooms. This past off-season we replaced the blinds in all five bedrooms, put in new carpet in the two upstairs bedrooms and bought new furniture for the Master Bedroom including a new Cal King bed.
There are three bedrooms on the ground floor. The master suite overlooks the lake and has a large bath with double sinks, jacuzzi tub and 2 shower head steam shower. The second and third bedrooms are on the ground floor across the hall from the master bedroom and each have a queen bed. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms share a bath that has both a shower and dual sinks in it.
There are two more bedrooms upstairs. The upstairs 4th bedroom overlooking the lake has a queen bed and the 5th bedroom is a bunkroom (facing away from the lake) with two full-over-full bunk-beds (meaning you can sleep 4-8 people in the bunk-beds). The two upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom that has a tub/shower and double sinks.
Adjacent to the 4th bedroom is a enclosed three-season porch with a couch and two chairs that is perfect for card games or quiet reading. There is also a small office upstairs with a desk and a printer.
The ground-floor spaces are large family spaces including the kitchen-dining room and family room areas and were remodeled in 2019. The kitchen has quartzite countertops and is fully equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, two ovens, range, toaster, blender, ice-maker and two dishwashers. There are four counter-stools where you can sit at the kitchen island. There is also a natural gas BBQ on the side of the house near the kitchen. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, silverware, dishes and glasses. Rental of our home includes access to the linens and towels you will need during your stay.
The kitchen table seats 6-8 and can seat up to 14-16 with the addition of three table leaves. Attached to the kitchen is a laundry room with washer and dryer and a 2 car garage. The garage is typically full of items being stored (an old convertible, bikes, outdoor furniture in the off-season) so you won’t be able to get a car into the garage during your stay. You are, however, free to use the bikes and there is a pump in the garage to inflate the tires.
The family room is adjacent to the kitchen and has a large flat-panel TV, Blu-Ray DVD, Stereo and fireplace. The dining room and family room surround a “greenhouse-style” sunroom that juts out from the house closest to the lake. It’s a great place to sit in the morning with coffee as we get a lot of morning sun due to the North-East orientation.
The sunroom opens out onto a large deck that looks out on the lake and has outdoor furniture on it in the summer. At the base of the deck is a flagstone path that leads to the stairway down to the lake. The stairway leading down to the dock has 33 steps and about two-thirds of the way down there is a small sitting area that looks out on the lake. There is a metal handrail that makes the walk down the steps easier to navigate.
Our dock is 102 feet long with an oversized 20’x 20’ sitting area at the end. There is plenty of sitting room at the end of dock as we have two five foot long benches and five “Adirondack” style chairs.
We have a number of hoists that will be available for your use -providing you let me know that you’ll need the hoists so we can make sure they’re setup and ready to go - including:
1. A 7000 pound hoist (with a vinyl awning) that we use with our 25 ½ foot inboard ski boat and can accommodate inboard and outboard boats, and
2. Two kayak hoists that can accommodate jet skis if you're attentive and careful.
3. There are also two jetski hoists with a cover and an electric motor that are typically available for your use. Please inquire.
If you bring your laptop with you, you’ll be able to access the internet either through an Ethernet cable connection in the office or via the 802.11b/802.11g Wi-Fi wireless network in the house.
There is no smoking or pets allowed in our house.
If you would like to proceed further, let me know and I can pull together the rental agreement that we would need to sign that contains further details, etc. One half of the total fees due are payable upon signing the Rental Agreement and the balance is due 60 days prior to your stay. Once I receive a signed rental agreement I’ll mark your desired dates as reserved on my availability calendar.
