Glorious family stay

We chose this location as a central spot to explore the southeastern portion of the Big Island and it did not disappoint! We had PLENTY of room for our group of 8 - 4 adults and 4 kids. Amanda was a welcoming and amazing host - welcomed us upon arrival (even though it was a late night arrival after a full day of flights). The house was immaculate and well stocked. Any time we had a question, Amanda was quick to respond. It was a perfect location to get to Volcano National Park, Black Sand Beach, Hilo, etc. Our kids especially loved the large yard to play and explore. We appreciated the quiet neighborhood. We would recommend to anyone coming to the Big island and would definitely stay again. Mahalo Amanda and fam! .

About the host

I have always loved being of service to others and love creating relaxing and inviting spaces where people can unplug, recharge and enjoy 'Ohana. It is my pleasure to make your trip to Hawai'i one to remember.

Why they chose this property

This property is situated on 20 acres of pristine Hawaiian forest and backs up to a state forest reserve. Off a dirt government road in a remote location and secured with an electric gate, the home is tucked down a long, winding lane through a magical and amazingly quiet forest, far away from any city lights and disturbances. Four wheel drive is not necessary to access our property but is suggested for enjoying all the island has to offer. Given that the property is in a forest you will hear and see native birds, and possibly the occasional pig family foraging for fallen fruit. A true escape from the norm, Jungle Oasis is just what you need to unplug and get back to nature.

What makes this property unique

Our home is entirely off-grid, meaning all power is generated by the sun. Our water is retrieved by well and filtered through a UV system so it is safe for cooking and drinking. Our hot water and gas is sourced from a propane tank.
We do have a backup generator that may come on in the event of heavy power usage and low sun, after cloudy rainy days. We have starlink WIFI if you should need to stay connected, however it may not be as fast as what you're used to given our remote location.
