Make Lasting Memories at Silver Mountain Cabins
Welcome to your next adventure! Tucked into the heart of the Ottawa National Forest and the Keweenaw Peninsula, Silver Mountain Cabins offer a one-of-a-kind, family-friendly escape in Michigan’s breathtaking Upper Peninsula. Located just 28 miles from Michigan Tech and 10 miles from Lake Superior, our newest and most spacious cabin is ideally situated near top outdoor attractions—hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, rock hounding, and premier hunting are all within reach.
Unwind with a peaceful retreat just minutes from Silver Mountain and Sturgeon River Falls. To help you make the most of your stay, we’ve included a thoughtfully curated welcome book with recommendations for local trails, hidden gems, and activities throughout the area.
Your Private Northwoods Getaway
This newly added private cabin is your perfect home base for exploring or relaxing. The main level features:
One bathroom
Two bedrooms: one with a King bed and a twin, and another with two twin beds
An open loft area with a Queen bed and two twin beds
With sleeping accommodations for up to nine guests, this cabin is great for families or groups. We’ve updated all mattresses and bedding to ensure a restful and comfortable night’s sleep.
Enjoy meals at the dining table for six, relax in the cozy living area with seating for three, and step outside to your own private fire pit, ideal for evening gatherings under the stars.
Stay Connected (Even in the Woods)
Need to work remotely? You’re all set. While cell service is limited, every cabin is equipped with high-speed fiber internet, complete with a private router, network name, and password. You’ll also enjoy two Roku TVs for entertainment, as well as a collection of books and games for quiet, screen-free moments.
Explore the Property and Beyond
Our expansive property includes 22 acres of beautiful natural landscape, backing right up to the Ottawa National Forest. In addition to your private cabin and fire pit, guests are welcome to explore and enjoy:
Shared grill and picnic area
A tranquil orchard and garden
Trails that wind through the forest and around the pond
There are two other guest cabins and one private residence on the property, offering a peaceful sense of community with plenty of space to roam.
Nature at Its Finest
Our quiet forest setting offers stunning night skies, peaceful surroundings, and the occasional visit from local wildlife. As with any true nature escape, bugs are part of the experience—mosquitos, flies, ladybugs, and more may appear, especially near our pond in the evenings. We regularly treat the area to minimize discomfort and are happy to provide bug spray, extra treatments, or even a mid-stay cleaning upon request.
We also raise chickens on the property and love sharing farm-fresh eggs when available. Interested in meeting them? Just let us know—we’d be happy to give you a tour and a hands-on experience.
Trail Rider's Dream Basecamp
We are located directly on Silver Mountain Road (Forest Service Road 2270), providing immediate access to UTV/ATV trails and nearby connections to Snowmobile Trail #12 and #109. Ride straight from the driveway into miles of designated trail systems—ideal for outdoor enthusiasts year-round.
📍 View our location and trail connections on the Trail Riders' Basecamp page
A Host When You Need One
Whether you’re looking for privacy or connection, we offer flexible hospitality. We live nearby and are available if you need assistance—just call, or message any time.
Join us at the central fire pit in the evenings, or explore the gardens when weather permits. We love getting to know our guests! If you're interested in a garden tour or a group bonfire with homemade desserts, just ask—we’re always happy to host.
