About this property
Mid-Century Midtown Gem
Welcome to this sweet little bungalow in Central Tucson! A short bike ride from the University of Arizona, The Arizona Inn, Fourth Avenue and downtown, this house is tucked behind a church on a quiet street in the Palo Verde neighborhood. It's walking distance to the Tucson Botanical Gardens, the Catalina Swimming Pool (free & open all year!), and Frank's/Francisco's... the best frikkin' diner in Tucson.
Thick adobe walls keep the home cool in summer and warm in winter. Both bedrooms have excellent new mattresses. An updated kitchen has all new appliances. The whole house has the original, historical red polished concrete floors, and decor that's true to Tucson: Mid-Century / Scandanavian / eclectic Arts & Crafts, with a bow to local treasure-hunting thrift culture.
But the best part might be the back yard. Two giant eucalyptus trees provide shade, and there's a fire pit, outdoor grill, al fresco bathtub and shower, and a sheltered area for outdoor dining. There's also a small freestanding studio in the back, available for guests to use as a 3rd sleeping space. Fully finished, it has sisal carpet, fresh paint, a new heater/AC mini-split, a double-pained windows, and a very comfy twin bed. Anyone who stays out there will share the kitchen and bathroom with the main house.

About the host
Hosted by Janna

I love Tucson, and love sharing the magic of the desert with others. So I've made this little home as much for myself as I've made it for guests. I grew up here, then moved away for work in Chicago and New York... and still work out of town sometimes. But when it came time to put roots down and buy a little house, I wanted it to be here: where there are monsoons and mourning doves and saguaros and the smell of creosote. And a pretty nice view of the Catalina Mountains. :)
Why they chose this property
I chose this neighborhood because it's peaceful, and neighbors are friendly and walk their dogs! Palo Verde neighborhood is also close to everything: downtown, gem-show sites, Fourth Avenue, the mural walk, the Botanical Gardens, The Loft Cinema, Casa Video, Himmel Park, El Con Mall, the U of A, The Arizona Inn... but even in the heart of midtown, it is INCREDIBLY quiet. Behind a church, so there's rarely any traffic. I've never had such peaceful sleep.
What makes this property unique
I love this little house. It's a charming 1947 adobe bungalow with original floors and a beautiful layout. There's a ton of parking in the front drive way / shaded carport. And the back yard is spacious and beautiful. There's a shady ramada for outdoor dining, and many peaceful spots to sit and watch the sun go down, gather round the fire pit, or grill outside. There's also an outdoor shower and bath tub for brave travelers. ;)
