About this property

Tranquil Dog-Friendly Lake Cabin

Nestled in a serene, private, lakefront setting, The Lazy Hound Lodge is more than just a vacation rental—it’s a place to create lifelong memories. Whether you’re looking to unwind and unplug or seeking adventure, this charismatic cabin offers the best of both worlds. It is close to Tamarack yet offers solitude and nature surrounded by trees, the lake, and a year-round creek over an acre. DOG-friendly!

Book your stay today and discover why our cabin is the ideal destination for your next getaway!

Step into the warmth and charm of a 70s-style cabin where every detail has been carefully curated to make you feel at home. This isn’t just another rental with some furniture—our cabin has been lovingly outfitted to create a truly special and inviting atmosphere. Cozy up by the wood-burning stove, play board games around the dining table, or sink into the couch with a good book and enjoy the tranquil surroundings and view from the large picture windows.

Important (DOGS): We allow one (ONE) dog at $25/night, but this cap is $100, so if you stay with us for more than four nights, you won't pay any more than that.

Step outside and take in the peaceful sounds of nature (virtually no noise along the non-motorized portion of the lake!). Enjoy your morning coffee on the deck while watching the sunrise over the lake, or gather around the fire pit in the evening for s’mores and stargazing. The cabin is surrounded by towering trees, offering privacy and a sense of seclusion, while still being conveniently located near all the area’s top attractions.

For those looking to unwind:
- Take a leisurely stroll by the lake.
- Explore nearby hiking trails with picturesque mountain views.
- Relax and reconnect with loved ones in the peaceful setting of the cabin.

For the adventure-seekers:
- Skiing and snowboarding are just a short 10-minute drive to Tamarack.
- Explore snowmobile trails for an adrenaline-filled winter experience (No Business Mountain is just a hop away on West Mountain Road).
- In warmer months, enjoy boating, fishing, or paddle boarding on Lake Cascade. In the early summer, you can use an SUP or Kayak right from our property on this NON-MOTORIZED portion of the lake.

Provided items:
- All cooking and dining wear as well as cooking oil, salt/pepper
- Both a Keurig and drip coffee maker
- K-cup pods, sugar, tea, hot cocoa (NO ground coffee)
- Laundry detergent, dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper
- Shampoo, conditioner, body soap
- FREE FIREWOOD
- Games, books, puzzles, kids toys, large DVD collection
- For the poochies: toys, treats, poop bags, lint rollers, dog cot and designated dog blankets
- Pack N Play porta crib with a mattress pad and sheets
- See the amenity list for other items
- Gas grill available seasonally (summer/fall)

Important things to note:
BEDROOMS: The two upstairs bedrooms are in a lofted open-air style
- DOGS: We are a dog-friendly rental so if you have allergies or would be sensitive to finding a stray hair or two our cabin might not be for you!
- NATURE: One of the great things about the cabin is being surrounded by trees while also being on the lake. This can mean insects and critters are in the area. While we get preventative services we cannot always avoid encounters with nature - we are in THERI habitat.
- WINTER TIME: 4-wheel drive is highly recommended. Please note that we have a long driveway that gets plowed when there is a big snowfall and it will often come in the very early morning (2-3 am) so there may be noise from this depending on weather conditions.
- FIREWOOD: We provide FREE firewood and will stock some inside on the rack, if you use it all you are welcome to grab more from the woodshed outside
- LAKE: The water level in spring and early summer comes up to our property line but it will drop mid-summer as the reservoir is drained. We have fun playing on the muddy shore but you won't be able to get SUPs and Kayaks out that time of year.
- DISHES AND GRILL: We do not have a dishwasher so we depend on you to properly clean dishes before putting them away. We cannot ask our cleaners to check each and every dish otherwise the cleaning fee would be much higher and we don't want that to happen! The same goes for the grill, please be courteous to future guests by leaving it as clean as you can if a mess is made. *Grill is available in the SUMMER only*
- DECOR: Just as a heads up in case you are sensitive to hunting, we have real deer hides and antlers and an elk mount as part of the decor.

Cozy cabin

This cabin was absolutely perfect! It had all the cozy, quaint features you’d hope for in a getaway, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The space was ideal for playing games and just relaxing by the fireplace—we honestly didn’t want to leave! One of the sweetest touches was how pet-friendly it was, with little dog blankets that made our furry friend feel right at home. It was so inviting that we found ourselves wanting to stay in all weekend rather than go out. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a warm, relaxing retreat!
