'Thistle Dew: Canaan Valley'... The perfect place for couples or groups up to 14!

Our home is located in the heart of Canaan. Just minutes from all major attractions and state parks. Sit on our front porch swing and enjoy views of both Timberline and Canaan Valley Ski Resorts and their mountains. Our home offers a cozy living room area, separate TV/play room for the kids, in addition to an upstairs sitting area and office. On the second floor, you'll love the HUGE master suite with Queen bed and flat screen TV. The second and third bedrooms offer nice twin and full size bunks. The fourth bedroom has a Queen sized bed and a window seat with mountain views. For guests who desire a first floor bedroom, our house offers the fifth bedroom on the main floor with adjacent bath. The home offers two additional full baths, one on each floor.
Enjoy a nice cookout on the back deck, fully furnished with patio furniture and both charcoal and gas grills, or sit by our fire pit and make s'mores on a brisk night.

5 Bedroom, 4 Bath (Downstairs: 2 Full baths, 1 Bedroom- Queen; Upstairs: Master suite- Queen; 2 rooms with Twin top, Full bottom bunks; Additional room- Queen; Additional Full bathroom).
4x4 Not Required- driveway is fully flat- no mountain to climb in the winter!

Great for winter fun!

stayed here for our annual long weekend getaway with 2 other families. House was great, clean, well maintained, and only short distance from X-C skiing, downhill skiing, sledding and tubing! Have already booked again for next year.

Wonderful weekend

We had a great stay at the house. It had lots of room for 11 of us to spread out, and it's nicer than the pictures show. We enjoyed the ping pong table and that the kitchen was fully stocked.

State Park 70th Birthday Celebration

My 93 year old mom and 5 of her children loved our stay celebrating my brother. Your home was perfectly located for Blackwater, Canaan and the epic Dolly Sods. I hope to come back in June to celebrate with my sister in law 60th birthday.

We were a group of adults and Girl Scouts, ages12-18, on a ski trip. The accommodations were excellent, the location was perfect to access both ski areas, and the home was lovely and very well equipped to meet all our needs. Plan to return.

Its our third year renting this space. The house has a good spacious layout with a bonus ping pong table in the garage. The view from the house is lovely. Its easy to access. Zero negatives to say on this place. We will be back.

Wonderful Stay

The house was stocked with anything you would need. It has gorgeous views of the mountains in the back, with a huge fire pit. The front had a large covered deck, perfect for hanging out with family or friends. There were two living rooms and a ping pong table for the kids to enjoy. The upstairs had a nice loft and office area in addition to the bedrooms.

Best Layout for Family and Friends -- Spacious and Quiet

Easily accessible yet hidden down a wonderful lane. Lots and lots of space in the house -- great quiet areas and rooms. Host / owner terrific at communicating. Well-stocked, fast wifi, and lots of kitchen utensils, toys, chairs, etc. All great. Will stay here again.

Beautiful and peaceful setting

This house is spacious and well-appointed. It was perfect for our family of fourteen. The children loved the yard and the games and bikes available to them. A neighbor brought us flowers for our table and made us feel so welcome.

Wonderful WV Property!

Spacious home with thoughtful amenities. Enough room for us to spread out when necessary. Host is very communicative and thoughtful. Bikes, ping-pong, board games, supplies...it was all there. We love this house. It is clean and comfortable. We will be back next year!

We were at Thistle Dew for a 3 night annual family reunion. Four families were in four different rentals and all agreed that ours was the best!! With two living areas, a garage with ping pong, two covered porches, large dining table, kitchen with bar seating, five bedrooms, four baths, large loft area, and air conditions, what else do you need? The host was super great and makes sure everything is clean & well appointed. We will be staying again next year!!

Great Winter Vacation

Rented Thistle Dew for one week with son and his family. House was spacious and designed to accomodate large groups, including 5 bedrooms, 4, baths, large dining area, etc. Numerous accessories / amenities make this a true "home-away-from-home." Great communication with owner who took a personal interest in our stay. Located near Canaan Valley / Timberline Ski areas, Blackwater Falls State Park as well as towns of .Davis and Thomas for shopping, dining and entertainment. On future visits, this will be the first property I will check for availability. Excellent overall / Highly recommended A++.

A wonderful Thanksgiving family reunion

“Thistle Dew” was everything described and more. The house was spacious and incredibly well-stocked. In spite of rain and chilly temperatures adults and kids had ample space to spread out and enjoy games, crafts, tv time and even a nap. When the weather cleared Blackwater Falls State Park and Smoke Hole Caverns were short, but beautiful drives away. And our Thanksgiving feast was perfect in the kitchen/dining area which provided plenty of seating and counter space. “Thistle Dew” will definitely be on our list of favorites for future reunions.

My sister, Missy and I, manage our family home. Missy lives in Ripley, WV with her husband, Rob and their dog Brock. I live in Morgantown, WV with my two kids, Madison and Matthew. I'm a graduate of WVU and now work there in the Education department. This home was the dream of our parents, which started more than 30 years ago.
