About this property

Charming Villa in Marche, private pool and fantastic landscape

The Salino Country House which has been renovated with expertise is to be found in the midst of the green hills of the Marche region, and situated in the county of Contro at about 3 km from Gualdo ( 650 metres above sea-level), a medieval town in the province of Macerata and part of the ‘Comunità Montana dei Monti Azzurri’ ( The Mountain Community of the Blue Mountains). The farmhouse, from which there is a beautiful view of the countryside, stands on a strip of land of approximately one hectare, on a hillside that runs gently down to the stream named ‘Salino’, from which the property takes it’s name. The construction, which provides every comfort, is composed of the farmhouse and an annex with a swimming pool, able to sleep 15 people in a mini apartment, a one-room flat and four rooms, as well as a communal living area composed of a polyvalent lounge, a dining-room and a kitchen. Also included are a large garden, a car park and an olive grove.

The characteristic medieval village of Gualdo, the borough where “Il Salino” is to be found, is 3 km. away and at 650 metres above sea-level, a part of the Monti Sibillini (the Sibillini Mountains) national park. In Gualdo are all the shops that sell the typical regional products; here there are sporting facilities such as tennis, 5-a-side soccer, skating, and bowling.

At only 9 km. from “Il Salino” is Sarnano, an important thermal resort with the nearby ski resort in Sassotetto. At the same distance there is the characteristic medieval and culturally active town of San Ginesio. Other interesting itineraries take one to the lake of “Gerosa”, to that of “Pilato”, to he gorge of “Infernaccio” and the sanctuary of the “Madonna dell’Ambro”, to the abbey of “Fiastra” and the archaeological site of “Urbs Salvia”. The provincial capital Macerata, 30 min. away by car, has many treasures well worth visiting and hosts from mid-July to mid-August at the open –air “Sferisterio” theatre a high-quality opera season. At an hour’s drive are the famous beach-resorts such as promontorio del Conero (the “Conero” promentary), Porto San Giorgio and San Benedetto del Tronto.

In the neighbourhood, apart from typical local products, are concentrated famous brand-name shoe, leather and clothing factories which sell directly to the public through on-premises shops.

Nice large authentic Italian holiday home, with a nice view over the hilly countryside

The style of the home is simple and in no way high-tech. In addition to the positives, we unfortunately found many annoying shortcomings and defects that are not commensurate with the rental price... Positive: -Very nice scenic view from the house and pool area. -Quiet surroundings. -Nice pool area. -Beautiful house. -Regular maintenance of the pool - Twice a week. -The house is divided into 3 apartments, so perfect for couples traveling together. -Nice local wine in the dining room, which you can buy for a small price. Negative: -The GSM WiFi modem's power supply was destroyed by the previous tenants, the landlord told us at arrival, but did nothing about it, so we had to take care of it ourselves... The GSM data package was used up on the 2nd day, and again on the 12th. day. However, it was re-established after contacting the landlord. Very poor data speed and WiFi coverage in the house's buildings, which are not suitable for work or streaming. All in all something that is of great importance to the modern family. -No air conditioning - only fans on stands. -The charcoal grill is in poor condition. -The selection of kitchen utensils is limited. There is a lack of proper pans and pots that are big enough for many people. There were no knife sets for carving, so we bought and donated them to the kitchen ourselves. -Many of the beds are very hard jump mats without top mats. -The toilet seat in the main house toilet does not fit and cannot be folded up, and the toilet paper holder was broken. -Toilet in the small house spills water on the floor when flushing. -Main door to the small house keeps popping open, so it has to be locked from the inside during the night, which for security reasons may well feel unsafe. Same goes for 2nd. floor entrance door without an uotside door handle. Can only opened with a key. -Most shower valves are without thermostats, which gives a bad bathing experience (suddenly cold or extremely hot) when several people bathe at once. -No beach/pool towels, as advertised - we had to buy them ourselves. -All outdoor furniture is cheap rickety plastic furniture without cushions - including the sun loungers by the pool. (We bought and donated cheap cushions for the chairs ourselves.) -Flooding in the entrance of the main house during rainy weather - happened twice and was time-consuming to get rid of so that the ground floor was not completely flooded. -No bikes as advertised - only 1 that was punctured and buried behind stuff.
