About this property

Lovely villa within walking distance of Begur with Private Pool and WiFi

This luxury villa is in a quiet residential location close to the centre of Begur just a short walk from the Placa de Forgas with its restaurants and bars and supermarket, yet far enough away to be a quiet and an ideal place to relax. The villa has lovely views over the village and is in a sheltered sunny location. The living accommodation is open plan and all on one level with a very large sitting/dining area which opens on one side to the pool terrace, to another onto the covered terrace and bbq and to the other side onto the garden. So lots of light and space. the house was purchased 2 years ago and completely renovated so everything is relatively new and of good quality. The master bedroom is beautiful with double height beamed ceiling, the 2nd double is spacious and beside the family bathroom and there are two other bedrooms sharing a further bathroom. Ideal choice for two families sharing or perhaps three generations holidaying together. We highly recommend this villa.

Golf, cycling, riding and walking: For the golfer there are a number of local courses within a very short distance. At Pals there are two good courses and at Emporda one of the best courses in Spain. There is no shortage of choice in this region with courses to suit all levels from the most challenging to the more forgiving. It is up to you. Club hire is available in most places and it is relatively easy to organise tee times.
There is a very friendly English speaking golf society locally if you wish to take part in any of their competitions that is easily arranged.
This area has a large number of well mapped and signposted designated walking and cycling paths. We can arrange hire of mountain bikes for you by the day or by the week. Discover the hidden Catalonia off the beaten track through tiny medieval villages, vinyards and fields of wild lfowers, rice, wheat and sunflowers. Heaven on earth!
We can arrange riding for you or simply a quiet hack along one of the beaches, through the forest tracks or countryside.

Food and Wine:
This area is renowned for its great food and wine.
El Bulli was best Restaurant in the World for many years and during that time many young chefs worked in their kitchen. There are now a number of wonderful restaurants in Catalonia owned and run by these former students of Ardrian Ferran.
Apart from these 'top end' places (which if you ask David or Phil Fleming about they will be happy to fill you in) local Catalan food is excellent. Prices are exceptionally reasonable and a basic 10/15€ menu del dia can be a fantastic culinary experience.
The local markets have wonderful fresh fish, shellfish, vegetables and fruit if you wish to dine at home or take a picnic to the beach.
Wine here is also great with a wide variety of styles and prices. Cava tasting is a must!

Activities for children: The local autority in Begur and in fact most of Catalonia are very aware that a happy child on holiday is the key to happy parents.
Almost every evening throughout the summer there will be something for children to do in Begur between 7 and 9 pm. Of course that doesn't mean your children have to go home at that time. In fact most Spanish families are only thinking of coming out at that time. Restaurants are used to children dining with their parents at any time of the night and children are welcome everywhere.
At the park in Begur there are bouncy castles inflated from 6pm, there is usually some 'activities' in the church square and on some evenings dancing for all ages from 8 to 80! Good fun for all the family.

Great villa in a great location

We were two families with teenagers renting this property in July and all had a fantastic time. Accommodation was great, particularly the living area, pool and outside space. The villa was in an excellent location, walking distance to Begur and not far to a range of beautiful beaches. Plenty of choice for eating out, and not too far to drive to some lovely places to visit.

Beautiful, modernised villa with stunning views.

Overall impression - wow. This is a stunning villa with a nice mix of traditional features and modernised rooms such as the kitchen and living space. The outdoor area is beautiful - spacious terrace, lovely pool and amazing views across the valley to Begur. Super peaceful and quiet. Our teenagers loved the table tennis, wi-fi and TV. We loved the BBQ, views, terrace and lovely bedroom with ensuite. Shortish (but hilly) walk to Begur, not for the faint-hearted. Begur is lovely, so much character and great bars and restaurants. Lots of good local supermarkets. If we come back to the area we would definitely rebook. Many thanks for an amazing holiday.

Tradition meets modern in this lovely villa

This villa was recommended as an alternative for the one we really wanted. It was an excellent suggestion. It suited our family perfectly, two couples each with children ranging from 6 to 15. The older children could walk to the tennis courts and unexpectedly to the community centre where they discovered all the games and made new friends. The villa itself is really comfortable with attention to detail so everything works perfectly and is spotlessly clean. Although there was a cleaning service after the first week we opted for additional cleaning which was reasonably priced and excellent. There is a huge woodland area to the side of the house which was a big hit with our younger children who played there when they weren't in the pool. We loved the fact that we didn't have to drive unless we wanted to and could go to the square for a bite to eat or a drink in the evenings. Begur has lots of great restaurants. Pizzetta would be our number one choice as a whole family group restaurant with something for everyone and a great attitude towards children. For a romantic dinner Casa Mar is Michelin star standard and not far to go for amazing food. We loved this villa, we found it quiet, yet in town. It was exactly as advertised and some. We hope to make it back in the very near future.

Contemporary mixed with traditional villa

This villa was perfect for our family. It is very close to everything so the older kids could walk to the park, youth centre, restaurants, etc., It was still very quiet for us and made an excellent base for our holiday. The lounge is enormous and is very airy with sliding doors on three sides. The kitchen is new, lovely, well planned with everything we needed and the bbq outside on the terrace was good too. The master bedroom has the original beamed ceilings and is very high with a big bathroom. All the bedrooms had good big beds (not the norm in Spain so suggest you check before you book if you are tall). It was good to have three bathrooms. We thought this house was very comfortable and suited the two families very well. The people who we rented it from were very helpful and had great tips on restaurants etc., There was also a good book of suggestions in the villa with maps & all the information we needed. It was good to know that if we needed any help all we had to do was call. We had a great experience in this villa and would recommend it to anyone wanting to be in Begur instead of at the beach. Aigua Blava is 3km away, we walked down and got the bus back up - had to do some work to justify the calories! Did I mention great food and wine in the area?? It is worth a visit to Catalonia just to eat and that is coming from a Frenchman!

A real find in Begur, excellent villa!

This villa is something of a 'find' with lovely views over Begur. We thought it suitable particularly for two families travelling together as both double rooms were splendid. All of us had decent beds and the other bedrooms were great for the kids. Having three bathrooms made a huge difference particularly the one nearest the pool. The pool isn't the biggest we have had but our boys still played water polo for hours on end. We particularly liked the fact that we didn't have to drive in the evenings as everything was within walking distance and when we were taking our time over a bottle of wine in the square the kids could make their way home to watch a dvd if that was what they wanted to do. The living room is enormous with modern furniture and everything is of good quality. The kitchen is brand new with everything we needed and there was a good bbq. There was plenty of outside furniture and comfortable sunloungers. There is a large wooded area to the side of the house which was great for the kids to play in. Overall we would recommend this villa as a great location for families and also for friends travelling together and are considering going back in the autumn this year to cycle the area with our friends. The people who look after this villa are a font of knowledge on the local area, walking, cycling paths, golf courses, places to eat, things to do and see etc., and provide a very personal service which we loved.

We are a couple with three adult children and grandchildren, hoping shortly to retire and spend more time in Begur which we just love. We are a musical family and are based in Dublin and London with some of our family in the US. Begur is a great base for us to meet up with our friends and extended family who all come to stay on a regular basis.

Why they chose this property

We bought this villa from Costa Brava Connections who had been renting it for the past few years. We loved it from the moment we saw it but afer a long winter un occupied, it needed a little TLC so have spent the last few months giving it just that and now it is our home from home. It is in a lovely quiet location with a view over the village of Begur. We can walk into the centre of the village in just a few minutes for a drink or dinner. There always seems to be somethng happening. The villa has a great open plan living space where we can all sit and eat together. The outdoor covered terrace area has a lovely view and is right beside the kitchen. With lots of outside nooks and crannies so whilst there can be quite a number of people in the house you can always find a quiet corner. The house gets the sun all day long so you can also find a shady spot as it moves.

What makes this property unique

We found the people to be really friendly and helpful. Most people working in the shops and restaurants speak a little English and make an effort to understand our Spanish. The area is known for it's excellent food and that applies across the board from tapas to upscale restaurants. There really is somethng for all tastes and budgets.
