About the host
Hosted by John Adams

My wife Mary and I are from Ohio and feel very fortunate to be able to split our time between there and Maine. In 2019 we retired from our jobs in healthcare and higher education and purchased our Pine State piece of paradise in 2020.
We love the idea of sharing our home with people whom want to enjoy all that Maine has to offer. The property and amenities provided, allow will you to do as much or as little that you desire during your stay. This has been very appealing to many of our guests on days where you just want to relax on the decks, or around the fire pit at the shore.

Why they chose this property
Living on 2 acres with 350’ feet of ocean bay frontage and watching the tide ebb and flow is mesmerizing and beautiful. Our location also provides solitude and quiet. Located in DownEast Maine, you have many options to become one with nature in Acadia National Park, Schoodic Point, or a variety of lakes and hiking trails. If the day calls for shopping, eating, or just exploring, we are close to Bar Harbor, Bangor, and a number of quaint New England towns. Ellsworth is less than 10 miles from us where you can mingle with the locals and enjoy the same pubs, restaurants, and shopping available to us. Hannaford Grocers is a large New England store chain where we buy the majority of our groceries. Dunbar’s is a smaller, but well stocked, store that is just 1.5 miles from our house, north on HWY. 1. If you’re in the mood for excellent craft beers, incredible wood fired pizza, and live music you will find it at Fogtown Brewery in Ellsworth. Black Moon is also in downtown Ellsworth and offers craft beers, cocktails, food, and live music playing four nights per week.
