Fabulous!

What a lovely home in a beautiful setting! We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is spacious and cozy. We cooked every night and appreciated the well-stocked kitchen. The fireplace kept us warm on a blustery November night. Plenty of room for our family of five. We loved it!

Great family property near Dingle town

6 family members stayed at this lovely well-equipped house on the Dingle peninsula. The house is situated on a picturesque cove and is about 9 KM north of Dingle town. The home was as advertised and the owner prepared an excellent document (best I've seen) of things to do and places to see while in this extremely beuatiful part of the world. No complaints and we plan to return.

Beautiful location…loved the close by cliff walking trail

We loved the location…walking trail was spectacular…with miles of coastline, we had no other encounters of people, but met some very nice sheep…it was like a personal walking trail of spectacular views…House was nice with plenty of space for large groups…really enjoyed our stay…only comment, rent a GPS, we did not have one and had difficulty finding it, but after that was pretty much perfect…thank you

Fabulous home and view!

We loved our time at the home. Spectacular views. Hard to beat. A little hiccup trying to get ahold of the property manager, but VRBO came to the rescue and we got stuff sorted out relatively quickly. Great spot. Thank you!!

Beautiful home!

We had a wonderful stay on the Dingle Peninsula. Nula is a kind host and communication from her was top notch. Views are incredible right from the home -- just as shown in the photos. House is fully stocked with LARGE appliances which is a rare find. .PDF guide to the area was also very helpful. Couldn't recommend highly enough!

Views are everything!

We had a wonderful time at Ballydavid. Although I was at first disappointed that it is farther from the town of Dingle than I thought, the views and area are so spectacular, that I'm thankful that I didn't opt for a hotel in town. Waking up to sunrise and walking down to the beach was a treat I will not soon forget. Jacquie, the caretaker, was so kind and accommodating. When she thought that the coffeemaker was broken (it turned out it wasn't), she brought us her own coffeemaker so that we wouldn't have to go without one. Great place to stay! Would rent again if we go back to the area.

Awesome location

Our family really enjoyed this property. Nothing compares to the view. Ocean and mountains. Plenty of space for entire family. I would suggest going to Garvey's SuperValue for any groceries you need. We took the train to Cork. We did the Slea Head Wave, this is a must. Some went on a boat for fishing. Caught great fish. Went to Killarney and did the National Park and went into Dingle for Pub Crawls,Aquariim and shopping. I wish we had more time in Killarney & touring the town of Dingle. I would recommend spending more than a week. Love the southwest of Ireland. Would definitely stay here again.

Very nice stay

House was well cared for. Nice large kitchen and fully stocked with cooking essentials. Beautiful view from the house. A bit disappointed that the nearest pub was not open. we didn’t know that until we got there. It would’ve been really convenient if it was, but that’s no fault of the owner, be aware there’s nothing in the area. There is another pub nearby but not as close to the house which is very good and very good food. there’s no markets you have to go to Ballyferriter which is a little ways away in order to get any type of groceries. The house was clean, which is most important to me. It took us a little bit to figure out the pool table, which looks like you have to pay in order to use it, but you just push the coin slots in the balls for the pool table come out, but that wasn’t told to us by the owner, so that was Something we just figured out on our own and we wished we could’ve worked the fireplace. There was no instructions on that. We could not find the damper the weather during the time we were there was horrible and rained every day so it would’ve been nice to have a nice fire going at night a very nice stay.

Fabulous property!

Our trip to the Dingle Peninsula was magical……… in large part as a result of our vacation “home”. It’s in a wonderful location, peaceful and serene. The property and view are awesome! We had to cancel our trip twice due to COVID but FINALLY getting to stay here made it well worth the wait!

Stunning and peaceful location

This is a great sized house for a group holiday. The location and views are stunning from both sides of the house. The garden is lovely and big. There is a little beach in walking distance and other trails for walkers. The facilities in the house are good with each room having an en-suite. There is a large kitchen with a big table and also a utility. You do need a car to get about to see things and buy provisions as there isn’t a shop nearby and the pub that is within walking distance was closed when we stayed although it looked like work was being done to re-open it. Dingle is about a 20 minute drive with lots of food options and the nearby beaches are stunning. There are a few little things that could be done to make this place perfect such as some garden chairs, an updated bbq, maybe some games for the garden, more new cups and glasses in the kitchen and fixing a few little snags like the downstairs wardrobes being difficult to open and close. The windows in the kitchen could have done with a good clean too. Check with the owner before you go that all bedrooms will be available if you are in a group of less than 10. One of the best rooms was locked when we arrived and the house keeper said there was a leak but later got a bit funny with us and said we paid per person and so didn’t get all the rooms. I emailed the owner and it was resolved quickly. All in all this is a spacious house in a great location and we would recommend.

About the host

Hosted by John Moran

Host profile image
I took my first trip to Ireland in 1985 and raced around the West coast from Donegal to Cork and stumbled on Dingle. Had it been my first stop I wouldn't have gone any further.
Having stayed in B&B's and Inns in the various villages and in town over the years, we bought a site on rocks above Smerwick Harbor and within a half mile of one of our favorite country pubs. Notwithstanding our end-of-the-earth setting, 10 minute access to Dingle affords the best music and cuisine you can find in Ireland.

Why they chose this property

There are numerous pubs that dot the peninsula outside of Dingle. We found ourselves in a pleasant rotation, yet always apprehensive about missing a football match or a session that might surpass the perfection of the moment. We stumbled upon a lot in the center of it all with views of ocean swells exploding off rocks, within ten minutes of town and concluded that "we have to do this," and thats what we did.

What makes this property unique

The home is L shaped with two wings on two floors that affords privacy even with several couples/families.
The living room faces the sea in the back and the mountains in the front. The tides, clouds and light make for an ever changing view. In the living room there is a traditional fireplace where you can burn turf coal or turf briquettes.
Its the perfect combination of traditional Irish with modern amenities.
