About this property
Elegant Mediterranean Home on private street in Marina District of San Francisco
Recently restored to its original 1920's elegance and character, this house now features 21st century panache for a best of both worlds experience. We are located on a small, quiet, and level street. The house has three bedrooms, each of which features a unique bed configuration; one king, one queen, and one with two double beds. All bedrooms have ample dresser space for your use.
The Primary Suite, aka 'Crow's Nest', features an en-suite full bath, walk-in closet, Tv, and king-size bed. The Crow's Nest has peek-a-boo views of both the Bay to the North ... look for ships cruising by from the window ... and the San Francisco's City Skyline to the South. There is a charming dedicated dressing table with blow dryer, mirror, and other amenities and there is plenty of dresser drawer space.
Bedroom #2, aka 'Angel Island', is bright and airy with two double beds, a walk-in closet, large dresser, and large Tv. Bedroom #3, aka the 'Presidio', is calm and elegant with a Queen bed, blackout curtains, ample dresser space, a large closet and a dressing table with blow dryer, mirror and special amenities. Angel Island and Presidio bedrooms share a split bath in the main hallway ... the 'Romeo' and 'Juliet' Baths. The Juliet Bath has a large shower, sink, mirror, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towel bar, and hooks for your dopp kit and robe. The Romeo Bath is a powder room with toilet, sink, and mirrors. This split bath configuration eliminates the need to wait for availability for either shower or toilet while one or the other is in use.
The Kitchen and Dining Room share open peninsula seating which is a natural gathering place for socializing. The Dining Room is elegant and romantic and the Kitchen is timeless and super cheffy. We have a six burner Viking Range stove with double ovens, under counter beverage refrigerator, dishwasher, full-sized french door refrigerator and all appliances are stainless steel. There is ample gear for high end, in-house cooking and dining.
The Living Room is cozy and elegant with a decorative fireplace, original 1920's Mahogany built-in bookshelves, fireplace surround, and paneling. This room features a two large windows, one of which is a classic San Francisco front of house Bow Window with views up and down the street. There is also a smart Tv, double sofas, a comfy leather chair and ottoman, and an adjoining Nook room. The Nook has a bar credenza, and table with four chairs, a perfect spot for games (check the credenza), work on your laptop, or an extension of social time in the living room.
There is a formal entry, a great place to kick off your shoes and this space comes equipped with towels for the beach, yoga or stepping inside from the rain. The Front Door is on the second level (first level in Europe) with stairs ascending straight up from street level, this is the Main Level of the House. The Crow's Nest is up one flight of stairs from the main hallway and is a private space on the third floor. Down an interior flight of stairs from the hallway on the main level is the Laundry Room with a Powder Room. The laundry room includes washer, dryer, utility sink, counter space for folding clothes, an iron and countertop ironing board.
The safe and friendly Marina District is situated at the Northern end of the seven mile by seven mile peninsula which is San Francisco. The house is on a secluded street just steps from the Marina Green, a grand 74 acre waterfront expanse of grass flanked by the East and West Basins of the San Francisco Marina. Views from this epic strand include the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands, Angel Island, Alcatraz, Fort Mason, the St. Francis Yacht Club and the Golden Gate Yacht Club. The St. Francis Yacht Club, although private, is the oldest Yacht club in the United States West of the Mississippi. On any of the many crystal clear days this view stretches East across the San Francisco Bay to Tiburon, Berkeley, Oakland, and you may almost always feast your eyes on the glorious City Skyline. Chrissy Field, the Presidio and the ever popular East Beach are a quick walk from the Marina Green, as is the Palace of Fine Arts with its massive, gorgeous Greek Revival outdoor structures originally built for the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition and has been featured in many films. Just a ten minute walk inland from the house is charming and popular Chestnut Street. This three-quarter mile stretch is loaded with; Restaurants, Gift Shops, Salons, Clothing Stores, Bars, Local Markets, Flower Shops, Banks and Specialty Stores. Just a ten minute walk East from the house is an excellent Safeway Grocery Store, local Post Office, and Starbucks, as well as unique shopping, dining, and even comedy at Fort Mason. Every Sunday Fort Mason has an amazing Farmers Market from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm complete with live music.
The best free perk is that a walk to any of the aforementioned spots is always a joy as the residential architecture in the area is a feast for the eyes. Public transportation is close and easy and commonly used by all walks of life. There is not enough space or time to list all there is to do and see in the world class City of San Francisco, there have been volumes written on the subject but, rest assured, this little corner of the planet is charming, walkable, beautiful and part of San Francisco's storied Maritime history.
