About this property
THE NOOK Apartment
Enjoy the simplicity of Cabin Life in THE NOOK, our cozy corner apartment at Camp Otyokwa in MidCoast Maine. Nestled on a private road, THE NOOK offers everything you need - and nothing you don't - for a restorative, intimate stay for up to two guests.
While staying, you'll enjoy to THE NOOK Apartment along with private use of our Rec Hall main space, the large adjacent room to THE NOOK - think of it as your fun living room! Books and games, a record player with a selection of vinyls, and a vintage ping-pong table.
You will have communal access to our Lakeside Area, with easy access into Lake Pemaquid, a natural stone fire pit, picnic tables, and BBQ grill.
Woodfire Sauna, Kayaks, Canoes, SUPs, and Firewood are all available for an additional fee - let your host know you want to reserve them when you book!
THE NOOK has one Queen bed tucked into a custom-built alcove, with antique stained glass accent.
The kitchenette has everything you need to make coffee and cook simple meals, with a mid-size fridge/freezer, running hot/cold water, two-burner stove top, microwave, and toaster oven.
The interior bathroom includes a composting toilet and hand sink.
Outside, enjoy bathing in nature with our private outdoor shower along the tree line, with hot water always available. The ultimate nature bathing!
Plenty of space to spread out inside... but even more outside in your expansive yard surrounding the Rec Hall. Enjoy a large picnic table, yard games, and plenty of shade for lounging.
As our guest, you will have private use of the entire Rec Hall, with THE NOOK as a private space within the space. There is one bathroom with a composting toilet and one outdoor shower available for your private use.
There may be other guests staying in separate accommodations on the property sharing the communal areas near the lake. Otyokwa is the perfect place to relax with friends and family and maybe even meet new friends! We encourage friendly gathering but the extensive property and your private rental space offer the option to remain more secluded as you wish. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask our on-site host.
You will be staying in Maine and enjoying an indoor/outdoor living environment. This environment includes bugs. While we do our best with insect deterrents (bug spray, screens, mosquito traps), and our brisk onshore breeze helps keeps bugs down as well, there will be bugs sharing your space (mostly gnats and flies). Most guests find that they are a minor nuisance, but please consider your personal tolerance before booking.
Depending on your mobile carrier, you *may* not have strong data coverage (this is not common, but possible). WiFi is NOT OFFERED at THE NOOK. This is intentional. Please come enjoy being unplugged.
The camp represents a rustic, Maine camp experience, with minimal climate control. We have fans, space heaters, and amazing linens and blankets, but if you're sensitive to extreme-ish temps, please plan your clothing and bedding accordingly. And not much beats a sleeping bag to keep you cozy at night, so bring one if you like.
All running water is potable. Hot water is available for the shower.
Please respect our 11am check-out time - due to our tight turnaround time and housekeeper scheduling, if your guest party remains on-site beyond 11:20 on the day of your checkout, you will be charged an additional $75 fee for our cleaners' delay.
