About the host
Hosted by Blaine Bradford

Hello, I’m originally from Northern Michigan, however lived in Chicago for almost 20 years where I worked at Northern Illinois University. It was a great experience but Northern Michigan kept calling me back to its beauty and slower tranquil life. I’ve never looked back since 2016 reconnecting with the “Pure” Northern Michigan’s culture and great outdoors. Now days I find myself exploring running and hiking trails, boating and visiting many of the beautiful lake towns throughout the “Tip of the Mit.” When I’m not out and about I try my best to sent aside time for painting, which is one of the things I did at NIU. My favorite medium is oil on canvas. As a host, it’s been the completion of an idea I have had for many years in that it provides me an opportunity to share most of what this unique peninsula, surrounded by Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, has to offer. It’s one thing to experience all the activities and places I’m familiar with, however it’s much more satisfying to share all that Northern Michigan has to offer with friends and acquaintances. I hope you enjoy my home, which has served as a centrally located basecamp for exploring and experiencing the tranquil life! Enjoy!
Why they chose this property
I have been a fan of Ernest Hemingway’s Nick Adams stories. Many of those stories were inspired by the area in which my home is located. In fact, the Bear River that runs through a quarter mile of my property was a fishing destination that the young Ernest used to frequent until he was 21 years of age. This historic and unique location is very much a basecamp in that it is less than a mile from Walloon Lake and Village, 15 minutes from Boyne Mountain Resort, and 15 minutes from Petoskey.
What makes this property unique
Embrace all Northern Michigan has to offer! Relax in this stylish new home, located on a former golf course, which opens up to beautiful mountain views where "a river runs through it" just footsteps from your back door. Located on the Bear River, where Ernest Hemingway used to explore, the home serves as a base camp that is conveniently located a half mile from Walloon Lake & Village, 10 minutes from Boyne Mountain Ski & Golf Resort, 10 minutes from Petoskey, and 30 minutes from Charlevoix.
