Had to make the best of a situation
We traveled to Florida to attend a very long anticipated graduation so we couldnt wait to celebrate. The property contact was nice & let us check in an hour early so the kids could start swimming. The community is beautiful & the check in was super easy. The house was just as described, the furniture was a bit worn (could use new couches) & the fridge had broken drawers but otherwise the beds were great. We left to hit the grocery store (publix and aldis both super close!) to buy everything. Anytime we have rented a home there are some basics (at least 1 roll of paper towels,dish soap) but no biggie we were there for a great long weekend. However we returned to the property & saw cockroaches in the kitchen. I know bugs are more common in Florida so we didnt make a big deal out of it & called the property mgmt team, who sent a guy that afternoon to spray. We cleaned the whole kitchen & washed EVERY dish & then went out to eat. The next morning we found more roaches & pest control had to come back. We left for breakfast & the parks. Came home that night to cockroaches scurrying all over the kitchen/dining room & 4 in the bath upstairs. We called/texted & left messages to all the emergency numbers & did not receive a response until the next morning. We were told pest control would return & the spray would draw out the bugs & kill them within 48hrs. That would mean no using the kitchen again for days. A huge cost since we cant cook especially with kids! I called Homeaway & was sent to 3 different agents & on the phone for 3 hours!Only to be told they had no homes available with equivalent rooms & private pool, instead they said we should separate our party into townhomes in another city. I was very unsatisfied with their customer service. We attempted to reach the owner (myself & Homeaway) w no response. We decided to ask for a deep cleaning & stick to the outdoors. Paid for pool to be heated & finally left for the parks. Pest control returned to spray, lay traps & someone came to clean the kitchen. We had 1 day of no bugs & then found more bugs dead/alive the last day but I was done. We requested late check out (& were granted 3p, which was least they could do for all the time spent on this & wasted use of a kitchen). Home is big & beautiful, if they get this under control. I have stayed in FL many times so it isn't simply a thing. I will be using a different company for our next rental & choosing a place w/ more reviews!
