Sweet Spot!

I stayed here with a good friend for the weekend and we couldn't have had a better time. House is spacious and clean, right on the river, kayaks and yard games provided. We hiked Old Rag on the way up which was an amazing (and very challenging) experience, then spent Saturday kayaking and fishing. We went into town Saturday night for food and drinks. We couldn't get in to Chop House but highly recommend Asian Station for a casual and fun meal. Also stopped into the wine bar and played some musical bingo. Overall, I definitely recommend this spot and look forward to returning.

Delightful stay

Totally a five star experience. Extraordinarily thoughtful hosts, the house greeted us with wine, crackers, and even a stick of butter that proved so useful! Very comfortable house in a delightful setting next to a river (with views!) and easy access to many hikes and wineries. Local information available in booklets and pamphlets in the house. Totally the sort of place to recommend to anyone! We had the best possible time and hope to come again!

Overall Great Stay

Overall was a great stay. Very easy to check-in, house was clean, and thoughtful surprise welcome with snacks (thank you!). Appreciated the fairy lights in kitchen and living room, so had a little bit of light at night. Loved the porch. Good water pressure with showers. Extra chairs in closet helpful since had a 5th person at the house for dining table. Plenty of storage in the pantry, and appreciate the kitchen items (ex. cooking spray, salt, pepper, etc) along with all the hand soap at all sinks, so we didn't have to bring it. Good location to get to Shenandoah River Park each day for hikes, and downtown to hit the shops one afternoon. Quick response from host. Biggest downside was that we had no cellular service with Verizon or AT&T. So could not make/receive calls or text messages, which was big disappointment. But we did have good wifi for internet (hubbie brought router with him). Wish the fireplace had flames you could see when on. Beds not terribly comfy and squeaky when you move, so one of the kiddos had trouble sleeping. All cutting knives EXTREMELY dull - we tried them all - had heck of a time trying to cut fruit and veggies. Wish the firepit had chairs - we noticed campfire chairs under the deck, but didn't have the energy to set them all up. But other than not being able to receive/make calls, everything else wasn't that big of a deal. Overall good stay, would recommend so long as you can receive/make calls while staying at the cabin.

Great location, unfortunately the after effects of Hurricane Helene meant we couldn't take advantage of all the great facilities ie kayaks etc. Lori and Geoff made us feel very welcome.

Cozy cabin near Shenandoah NP

We really enjoyed staying at Rivers Edge! Upon entering we found snacks and wine from the hosts, such a nice surprise! The home is decorated in a lodge style which makes it very cozy! The large porch is really nice and kept us dry during our stay as there was a lot of rain. All of the outdoor equipment was there just as advertised, but because of the weather we were not able to use it. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. There was also shampoo and body wash in the bathrooms. There were a lot of games and puzzles and a nice big yard. Lori was great responding to all of our questions about rainy day activities. The road to the house (off of the main road) is gravel but we didn’t really have any problems with it in our mini van, although it was a little intimidating the first time down it!

Slice of Heaven

My partner and I had an absolutely wonderful time at this riverside cabin. Inside was clean, simple, comfortable with a well-stocked kitchen. The deck spacious and a great place to enjoy the sunset. The lawn was great for games (cornhole, badminton, frisbees, balls of all sorts provided). Nice fire pit. Having kayaks readily accessible was a real treat. If you like fishing, the river was teaming with small mouth, blue gill, and catfish. Definitely will visit again!

Perfect River Cabin

The cabin has a great location. Close to Luray and Skyline Drive. Not only was it well kept and a nice getaway, this was one of my first VRBO places that had such a well stocked kitchen. With matching coffee cups and place settings and serving bowls. I bring a bin with all things I need and here so much was already provided. Also we all loved that all light switches were labeled so there was not that constant guessing game to turn on and off lights. Also we were celebrating my boyfriends bday and they left a cake and candles and a card. So sweet. Wish we had noticed they would have driven us up river to canoe down to house. Next time! Thank you! No one wanted to leave .

Perfect place with many extras

We enjoyed our stay here! The host has all kinds of games, things like camping chairs and sticks for hot dogs/ marshmallows, and sunscreen/ bug spray. Very conveniently located about 15 mins from Luray caverns. 2 things to note. Renters are responsible for their own bed linens and bath towels. I had forgotten but they even had that to get us through. The river bottom is a very rough/ sharp rock where you enter. Even with water shoes it was slow going.

Wonderful River Retreat

Wonderful home right on the River. We were greeted with a welcome gift on the counter and a booklet with House info and local info. The beds were comfortable and the house clean. Very pleased to have many common supplies/spices/cleaning items available for our use. We all played badminton and cornhole. my husband and boys tubed down the river and we had a great time around the fire pit! Easy drive to Shenandoah National park and other local interests. Would highly recommend!

A short stay

My family & I were booked for 2 nights & unfortunately, I was only able to stay one night, but the owners of the property were kind enough to check on us as they noticed we never made it the first night. I thought that was considerate of them & upon arriving the following night, my family & I were very happy with the layout and cleanliness of the home. Everything and then some was available to a person's needs. They were generous enough to leave a bottle of very pleasant wine and 2 bags of Pepperidge Farm cookies as a welcoming gift. That made us all smile. My 7-year-old son, 12 & 18-year-old daughters were very content with their space to chill and play. My wife and I enjoyed the large deck & listening to the River while relaxing on the rocking chairs. The oven worked great and, the fridge had some useful condiments and the pantry had plenty of supplies & seasonings as did the bathroom with toiletries. It was a pleasant surprise in the morning receiving a courtesy from the owners for a late checkout. That extra few hours.made quite a difference and allowed us a little more time to rest, explore & pack. Although i iIitially wasd on this place because we love to kayak and a ghaveood campcampfire didndidn't to utilize the boats or the fire pit but we will return for a longer stretch & put those ammenamenitiesse. A storm the day prior had left the river discolored & swollen with plenty of debris. It was fast & uninviting, Fin; Fingerssed we c,an enjoy it the next time.

Best Vacation Rental Ever

Our stay at Rivers Edge Cabin was my family's best vacation stay ever at a short term rental. The cabin was clean inside and out and exactly as described, It included many amities that you do not usually find, all at the same location, such as: a very well equipped kitchen including spices, zip locks, foil wraps, etc; multiple games, yard games, badminton, corn hole, etc; two kayaks, a canoe, multiple tubes to use in the river 200' away. 15 minute drive to Luray Caverns & the town of Luray and 30 minute drive to Shenandoah National Park. In preparation for my trip, I emailed two questions and both wee answered within 10 minutes. I highly recommend this cabin.

Why they chose this property

We love the quiet and beauty of the Shenandoah Valley. We were fortunate enough to find this property right on the river where we could build our own cabin. Nothing beats having the Shenandoah River right out your front door.

What makes this property unique

We can swim, fish, and canoe right from the house. Evening campfires overlooking the river are the perfect way to spend an evening after a day in the water. There is plenty to do without leaving the house.
