Book a stay at the Double J&D Historic Hot Spring Ranch and soak in the South Fork of the Payette River's largest private odorless hot spring with NO shared spaces. A two room bungalow awaits with one bedroom, living room futon, dining room table & chairs, frig, microwave, coffee maker, & flat screen TV. Your private bathroom is a short walk away, steps from the pool. Adults only, two-person max, no smoking & pet free. Come relax & enjoy "Robe Life" at the hot spring ranch! While new to VRBO, we've been sharing this magical place since 2021. We are the only listing in the area on another popular rental platform maintaining a perfect 5 star rating with over 330 reviews.

The space
Your cozy space will keep you comfortable after a full day of fun on the hot spring ranch or after adventuring. The expansive and private property offers all sorts of outdoor activities for you and your companion to exclusively enjoy. In addition to the private hot spring pool take advantage of: badminton, horseshoes, mountain disc golf, croquet, photography, bird watching, hiking, biking, river activities, star gazing& a seasonal Fairy Tale Garden with private soaker tub. Tours are highly recommended to help you take full advantage of the ranch. Initial guided river access is required, after which you are free to enjoy the private beach and source at your leisure. You must respect off-limits areas; if you're unsure, please ask. Our horse Legs is our official mascot and he loves the treats we provide.

Guest access
We are owner/hosts & live on site, but there are NO shared spaces between us and our guests. The listing offers an exclusive experience with no other guests or unregistered visitors allowed. You'll have access to your living space & private bathroom, much of the grounds around the 7 acre property; including a disc golf course which serves as a great self guided tour, waterfall platform, river access (guided initially, no fishing allowed, but great holes are w/in walking distance) 24 hour private hot spring pool (clothing optional), creekside hammock, and all of our outdoor activities with lots of room to play and relax on multiple patios and river view seating areas. We provide a propane grill and fire pit.

Other things to note
Please familiarize yourself & your companion with the listing. The property and structures are historically old (homesteaded in 1898) so the set up is a little quirky and takes you back in time a little. Read the entire description & click on pictures to reveal captions. The bathroom is roughly 25 steps from your living space and only 10 feet from the pool (which makes for a handy changing room and a quick dash to a warm room during the cold months. In a tiny house situation, it is our opinion that having the bathroom separate from the studio helps keep the romance alive.

We are adults only (including infants), and two-person maximum. Tobacco use, underage drinking, unregistered guests, animals of any kind, and open carry firearms are prohibited. This is a completely safe sanctuary and place of true respite. Leave the kids & pets at home and come here to disconnect from the everyday grind.

Please note that if you are over six feet tall, the studio space has 6'6" ceilings & low doorways. Please bring what you need to prepare meals; we don't provide dishes, etc. We offer a grill, microwave, frig, and coffeemaker w/ fresh ground organic coffee, plus some little surprises. Check out our welcome guide further down in the listing.

Beautiful stay!

This property is beautiful and in a wonderful location to do so many Idaho activities we looked forward to. Jamie and Dan are so welcoming, and the amenities and hospitality were perfect for our stay. For the pool being a shared space, we did not feel like they were too close—in fact, it was nice to have someone nearby in case anything happened. Legs the horse was a sweet feature as well as the elk grazing close by. We’ve never been to Idaho before, and when we return, we’d love to stay here again!

My husband Dan and I are the owners & stewards of the Historic Hot Spring Ranch on the South Fork of the Payette River. We have my beautiful mom to thank for helping us get the courage up to build a business around this spiritual place. She knew what a truly unique experience we could offer and what a dream come true it was, and still is, for us.

Geothermal water has always enchanted us and we have distinct memories of soaking across the river at the public Campground Hot Spring, wondering just what the hell was going on over here. One day, we were driving by and saw a for sale sign on the property. Out of sheer curiosity, my mom called the realtor. A deal was in play, but they made fast friends and she promised to call us if it fell through. We got that call on a Tuesday, drove up from Boise that afternoon to meet her. The second I rounded the corner of the old ranch house and saw the pool, a complete vision struck me and I knew our lives were about to change forever.

Dan being an Idaho native and me a transplant from Riverton, Wyoming, we met and lived in Boise for almost 20 years; escaping to the mountains every chance we had. We backpacked all over; enjoying the most amazing views and backcountry soaks there are to be had. We moved here full time July 1st, 2018. My mom lived with us and soaked everyday, helping us clean the place up and make a long term business plan before she succumbed to lung cancer in May of 2019. After a lot of work, we started hosting January 1st, 2021. Along the way, we have met amazing people who've made the work more than worth it. We're excited to be part of the VRBO community.

Being here is in itself an escape and lord knows, now more than ever, we all need a safe place to feel grounded, loved, and accepted. We wake each day pinching ourselves with gratitude and striving to honor my mom's legacy, make her proud, and continue to build our tribe of like-minded, robe-life loving kindred spirits. Namaste everyone🙏

Why they chose this property

You'll get to see the geothermal source flowing from deep within the Earth up close and soak where the hot water flows into the river, all while being showered by a hot water fountain. If you've ever soaked across the river at Campground Hot Spring and wondered what the heck is on the other side of the river, this is your chance to find out. While untold people, dogs, and babies pile into basically a communal bathtub about the size of our shallow end, you'll feel like hot spring royalty enjoying a pool big enough to swim in, all to yourselves. Surrounded by mountain views and open space, with lots of activities to enjoy and places to discover, two nights is barely enough time to take it all in.

What makes this property unique

No other listing anywhere near here offers what we do and the price per night is exceptional given everything there is to enjoy. The closest comparable listing having a private geothermal pool you can, not just soak in, but swim in, with a kitchen, will cost you over $1000 more for the same stay.

True, the set up is a little quirky, but a twist in perspective replaces hesitation with celebration: Not having a kitchen means you don't have to spend time cooking, cleaning up, or doing dishes. Instead, support the locally owned restaurants & market in Crouch, about 15 minutes from us, bring food you've prepped ahead of time, or plan to use the grill.

The separate bathroom space provides perfect separation from the bungalow to keep the romance alive and at night provides a chance to see the stars at their best. Back in the day, the folks who homesteaded here had to walk to a cold outhouse with who knows what waiting inside. Nowadays, your private bathroom provides endless hot water and doubles as a convenient changing room, being just steps away from the largest private hot spring pool in the valley.

A secluded fairy tale garden offers a soaker tub at the base of a small waterfall. Choose from multiple river view seating areas, a private beach, and a plethora of outdoor games. This property is truly, one of a kind, and we invite you to come feel the magic for yourselves. Dreams do come true and karma is real; this place is living proof of that💫
