About this property

Port House - New Oceanfront Listing! - Beachcomber Vacation Homes

Cape Cod charm meets Cannon Beach views in this stunning beachfront home. Boasting gorgeous ocean views across the Ecola Creek estuary with Tillamook Rock Lighthouse offshore in the distance, this lovely home is located just yards from the beach and only one block from the village’s charming downtown shopping area. You’ll be struck by how easily you can feel like you’re off the beaten path while being so close to the beautiful art galleries, diverse shopping experiences and wonderful restaurants that give Cannon Beach its distinct beach town vibe.

With four bedrooms, two kitchens and three and a half bathrooms, this home offers enough flexibility to make it the perfect spot for two to three small families or a good-sized group of friends. It features four gathering areas large enough for your whole group and seemingly endless nooks and cozy spots where individuals in your family can sneak away for some quiet time to themselves.

From your parking spot, an arched gate leads you through a quaint fenced courtyard to the east entry of this lovely house, where you’ll step into a long, wide hallway culminating in a small library with a cozy couch perfect for late-night hot chocolates and a good book. Off the left side of this entry, you’ll find the first of this home’s delightful gathering areas: an expansive billiard room with its own half-bathroom. Just off the back corner of the billiard room is where you’ll find the laundry room, which holds a full-sized washer and dryer.

Although the entry level has two different stairways, we highly recommend ascending to the main level via the stairs nearest the entry door the first time you explore this amazing house. The staircase also has a stairlift that can be used for anyone with mobility issues. This will lead you into the home’s great room, which is a showstopper in and of itself. Dividing the main level in half and running from one end of the house to the other, this expansive light-filled gathering space is crowned with a two-story ceiling and truly is the heart of this very special home. It features a small music nook at one end, central dining area with a table large enough for ten plus with the extension, a gas fireplace and a wall of shelves brimming with books. A spiral staircase at the west end of the room leads up to a beautiful open loft with two big comfy chairs and its own gas fireplace. This tiny perch looks back into the great room on one side, while secretly hiding a Juliet balcony to the west and a small walk-out balcony to the north, both offering unparalleled views of weather-twisted trees, the expansive beach and beyond.

A door off the east end of the great room leads to a balcony overlooking the entry courtyard where you can sit and watch birds flit through the trees. At the opposite end of the room, a door just past the spiral staircase leads to a wide, covered deck perfect for enjoying your morning coffee while taking in the stunning seaward views this home has to offer. From the deck, you can wander through the little gate at the edge of the fenced yard and find the path leading down to the beach and Ecola Creek, where it’s easy to spend hours building sandcastles or watching all the wildlife this magical estuary attracts. You may even see an elk (or several) wander by if you linger long enough.

On either side of the great room, there are two distinct living areas which could be secluded from one another as desired. To the left, French doors open into a cheerful dining area with seating for four, which in turn leads into a bright and well-appointed kitchen. Off to the right, you’ll find a large living area which has a fireplace, tv and room for 10+ guests with the built-in table extender to relax comfortably and chat about the day’s adventures. The west wall of the living room is made entirely of windows that allow natural light to spill in; as well as a door that leads directly onto the deck, giving you the option to watch the sun’s last rays dance through the dunes across the creek or wild winter waves marching to shore, either from a comfy seat on the deck or the warmth of a chair by the fireplace. From the opposite end of the kitchen, you’ll find the back stairs descending into the billiard room below, as well as a half-flight of stairs leading up to the first of the bedrooms on this side of the house. With lots of natural light, this bedroom is very large, holding two queen-sized beds with plenty of room to spare. Just next door is a bathroom with a large walk-in shower and a window that opens onto the great room below, allowing in more natural light during the day. Up another half-flight of stairs, you’ll find a hallway leading to two additional bedrooms and another bathroom. The first of these features a queen-sized bed and its own sweet little deck. Across the hall, you’ll find a bathroom with plenty of counter space and a shower, as well as another window allowing in light from the great room. At the end of the hall, you walk straight into a large, west-facing bedroom with lots of windows, a king-sized bed, a small desk and a deck offering some of the best oceanward views from the house.

Starting in the great room again and exploring the right side of the house, you’ll walk through a set of French doors into another inviting living area. This one features a large brick fireplace and comfortably seats seven. Large west-facing windows let in plenty of light and a telescope invites you to search the distant waves for whale spouts. Next to this living area, you’ll find another full kitchen that is a tad smaller than the one on the other side of the house. Just down the hall from the kitchen is a bathroom with cheerful blue tiles and a walk-in shower. Past the bathroom, the hallway opens into a small sitting area with a tv and room for four, just right for reading that last bedtime story to a kiddo or catching the end of an overtime game without keeping everyone else in the house up late. At the end of the hallway, you’ll find a bedroom with a king-sized bed and lots of light filtering in through its east-facing windows. Just a few steps from this room, you’ll find more French doors welcoming you back into the beautiful great room.

Whether you’re in the mood for watching for whales offshore, elk wandering down the beach and pelicans cruising the creek, checking out the welcoming character of the town or just cozying up with a cup of coffee and some breathtaking ocean views from the seclusion of your bedroom balcony; this house can accommodate all your Cannon Beach dreams. If you love the idea of getting away from it all, but also want the convenience of being steps away from everything this quaint beach village has to offer, this home is the perfect place for your family to comfortably sprawl out during your next getaway.
