Big Porch Cottage-peaceful farm, animals and room to play - reviews say it all!

NO EVENTS. NO PETS, due to the unique situation of farm activities and farm animals present, no outside animals are allowed for their own safety and the safety of our farm animals. As our reviews reflect, we work hard to make the cottage clean, inviting and a place to make lifetime memories. Whether you are traveling with several family members, a group of friends, or only a couple - we know that you will find relaxation on the big porch rocking chairs or around the fire pit. There is just something so amazingly peaceful about watching the hens and cattle going about their leisurely lives of grazing and resting. The property has plenty of room to toss a ball or frisbee; play flashlight tag, chase fireflies or catch snowflakes on your tongue. There is a cornhole board and bags set for outside and board games for inside. We have decorated the cottage in an inviting, comfortable country theme. There are books and inside toys for the children to enjoy (if you can ever get them inside).
The kitchen offers everything needed for your stay. With two separate round tables and bar stools, you can all enjoy a sit-down meal in the house - or a picnic style meal in the pole barn which is lighted with strings of clear lights.
The master bedroom has a queen sleigh bed, large walk in closet and a full bath. The south bedroom has a queen sleigh bed and a twin bed with antique dresser. The north bedroom has a unique door-headboard, queen bed and a twin bed with beautiful views of the hay barn. The south and north bedrooms share a full bath and walk in closet. The living room has TV with cable and DVD, seating for 10 and lots of floor space to play games. There is also a game table in the living room. The kitchen/dining room is very spacious with beautiful oak table/chairs and an island with bar stool seating. The kitchen is fully furnished with stove, oven, side-by-side refrigerator with water dispenser, dishwasher, microwave, coffeepot, blender, dishes and cookware.

The Perfect Chattanooga Getaway for Families with Littles

We loved the property so much. It was very easy to get to, no steep, treacherous mountain roads to navigate to get to it. Checkin was a breeze. I spoke to Mrs. Tammy when we were on the way and she let me know the process for checkin. When we got there everything was as it said. My 4 year old immediately took to the play kitchen. She and my 18 month old discovered a plethora of toys throughout our stay. Not only were there toys, there were children's DVDs, coloring books, books, and a ton of board games! My daughters had countless hours of fun here. This is the first vacation rental we have had to cater to children this way! There was also access to a high chair and booster seat, which we appreciated since we didn't want to carry our own high chair. We did not use the washer and dryer but appreciate they were there in case we needed them. There was plenty of beds, plenty of linens, and we loved that the master bathroom has a detachable shower head as that is very important for us to be able to wash our daughter's hair. We also loved that both bathrooms had full tubs. Unfortunately we had a lot of rain while we were there and it was too wet to make a fire but the fire pit area was awesome! My husband really loved the barn/patio area. My 4 year old daughter enjoyed seeing the cows and we even saw deer and a couple of rabbits! I'll definitely choose this property again when we visit Chattanooga in the future!

Chattanooga Weekend

Everything was perfect. Very clean house with anything you could ever need. Host was very friendly. There were 6 of us including my 8 week old grandson.

Quiet Country living

This was a New Years trip for my husband’s BDay. We wanted somewhere out of the city. This place was perfect. A nice scenic ride up the mountain just outside of Chattanooga. Tammy and her family were very accommodating and friendly. Even gave us some tips of places to go site see. We wanted to use the front porch rocking chairs more and didn’t see the cows much after the second day, but I don’t blame them. It turned just frigid cold. But the house was comfortable and warm. It had everything we needed. We will definitely keep this one in our favorites list. Thank you so much.

Wonderful relaxing home

We could not have been more relaxed at the Big Porch cottage. The porch is indeed large and completely relaxing with beautiful views of the sunrise and sunset. The home is large, very clean, and warm with a kitchen that was so well outfitted we were able to cook an entire Thanksgiving feast. Tammy answered all of our questions quickly and was kind enough to let us pet her cows. Although it is very quiet in the farm, it is still a quick and easy drive to all the sights I  Chattanooga.

Perfect Getaway

Location of the property was perfect and so convenient to sites in Chattanooga. Tammy and her husband have gone above and beyond to accommodate families with small children. We will definitely be back!

So quiet and cute!

It was so cute and relaxing! We hung out with the cows as much as we could and even fed them apples! We also met the barn cat biscuit who was super sweet! The property is super clean and there's no animal hair or any allergens at the house itself! My girl friends and I just lounged on the big porch,and relaxed our whole stay!

Very peaceful

We loved our weekend stay at Tammy‘s. We had our children and grandchildren With us and they loved the freedom to run the big yard and see the farm animals up close. My favorite was sitting on the wraparound porch in the rocking chairs first thing in the morning, drinking my coffee. It looked out over a beautiful meadow filled with yellow flowers. It was only about 8 to 10 miles from all the activities and downtown Chattanooga, but felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. Definitely going back.

Big Porch Cottage

The owner was very kind and fast to respond. The property was beyond beautiful and relaxing. We were able to enjoy the company of cows, chickens, and some of the wildlife, such as deer and rabbits. The porch was so very peaceful to sit amd enjoy a cup of coffee or conversation with family. The cottage was comfortable and very kid-friendly. Our almost 2-yr old didnt even touch his toys we brought for him to play as he enjoyed the play kitchen and other toys provided. It's an easy 25-minute trip to downtown Chattanooga where we enjoyed the aqaurium and zoo and exploring downtown. I highly recommend the Big Porch Cottage for your next stay.

This place is great!

This was our second stay at the Big Porch Cottage. We love it. The drive up is great. It’s far enough from Chattanooga that it’s secluded and quiet, but just a short drive down the mountain and you’re downtown in the middle of everything. Kids enjoyed playing outside with no worries about traffic or people being around. The house has everything you need, plenty of bath supplies and kitchen items, good internet, dishwasher and laundry room. The hosts are amazing, easy check in and check out and a really clean place to stay and call home.

Perfect Family Vacay!!

This was the perfect place for our family to stay and close to my daughter's house in Jasper. There was plenty of room for all 5 of my grandsons (ages 4-12) to play outside, feed the cows some apple cores and watermelon rinds, play some baseball and cornhole and fix s'mores over the firepit. The views were gorgeous and we loved rocking or swinging on the big porch and seeing deer, bunnies, and hummingbirds.The home was clean and had most everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Would love to come back one of these days and highly recommend!!

Great time!

We really enjoyed our peaceful trip to Tammy's rental. She was very responsive and accommodating to me even after I forgot to check in with her the day before our arrival. The house was in perfect condition and we loved spending time outside and in the barn. Our young boys spent so much time outside exploring the property and trying to find the turkey and her babies. We hope to make it back out to this property again in the future

Great getaway

This property is perfect if you're looking to be close to things but not TOO close. You have the peace of being away from the city, but can still reach everything in 20-30 minutes. This was our second stay, and we continue to enjoy the space for our kiddos to spread out and explore.

Wonderful Family Farm

We had the best time relaxing on the big porch while the kids ran around burning off some energy. The bedding is beautiful and the beds are so comfortable. The house was perfect to cook a meal and eat together. The barn with the lights was magical and the kids loved exploring. The dogs are delightful and the kids loved playing fetch. I would come back again and again. Tammy was awesome to communicate with. I wish we had more time.

Couldnt have asked for better

Tammy was an amazing host and extremely helpful we unfortunately had one of the boys get sick and tammy went above and beyond to make sure we had what needed and was able to give us information we didnt have like where to take him for a dr. Early Mother's Day Weekend

We cannot express enough how wonderful our stay at Big Porch was!! The house is immaculate and clean. Host Tammy has the gift of hosting. Just far enough away from Chattanooga to enjoy the leave and quiet of the country yet close enough to drive into the city to enjoy all the amenities Chatt has to offer. Nice place away from the crowds

Place was clean roomy and comfortable. Host was friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the firepit. Host even provided wood. Enjoyed seeing deer from the huge porch, and grandkids enjoyed the outdoor space and climbing trees. Only thing missing was an outdoor grill, but inside was furnished nicely with everything we needed.

Fun weekend with friends at Big Porch

We had a lovely time at Big Porch Cottage. The setting was just far enough outside the city to feel like a retreat, but close enough that driving over for a day’s adventure was easy and convenient. The hosts were so gracious, and we loved getting to feed the cows with them. The kids were thrilled with the Christmas decorations and had a great time playing cornhole. The house was warm and welcoming, with everything we needed right at hand. We’d love to come back someday!

Our names are Steve and Tammy Henderson. We live and raise cattle, chickens (for eggs), apples and a garden on this 40 acre farm. Steve also works away from the farm, but we enjoy being here for most of our spare time. Since offering the rental cottage, we have been blessed to meet many wonderful people from states near and far. We enjoy answering questions about the farm animals. Why they chose this property

This farm was originally owned by Tammy's parents. We built our house here shortly after we married and have lived here for over 39 years. The location has been very convenient to schools and jobs, yet offers a peaceful retreat from the hectic city life.

What makes this property unique

Guests to our cottage most always comment on the wonderful front porch, 8 ft x 50 ft with 8 rocking chairs. The fresh mountain air and peacefulness seems to melt the stress out of your body and put a smile on your face. Sunsets are beautiful from the porch or the pavilion. We have a barn-wood pavilion out back where families can spend evenings under twinkling lights and play corn-hole or other games or enjoy a picnic. One of my favorite places in the cottage is standing at the kitchen window looking out at the big red hay barn. There are often cattle, chickens and guineas in the pasture by the barn.
