About this property
Charming 3-bedroom lake cottage in Perry with AC, and sandy beach
Situated on a private sandy beach on Boyden Lake in Perry, Maine, the Sandpiper Cottage is a wonderful 3 bedroom lakefront rental with all the comforts of home and more!
This cottage boasts a beautiful panoramic lake view, excellent swimming, terrific fishing, docking system, 2 canoes, 2 kayaks, paddle boat and full basketball court.
This three bedroom, two full bath cottage will accommodate 6-8 guests with one king sized bed, two queen beds and 2 twin beds. The charming center fireplace completes this spacious cottage which features a living room, small study, open dining room and kitchen, and two waterside decks.
One of the decks is great for grilling and picnicking, and the other to simply relax with family and friends while watching over the lake and the children swimming.
The kitchen has plenty of counter space and comes complete with a breakfast bar, dishwasher and most any cookware needed by the cooks of the family to prepare wonderful vacation meals.
The cottage itself is handicap accessible with entryway ramps, extra wide doorways, handicap shower, a roll-under sink, and toilet with grab bars, easy-lift living room recliner, wide wrap-around deck and runway to the docking system.
The cottage comes complete with washer, dryer, gas grill, outdoor furniture, Internet, TV, games, microwave, paddles, life jackets and firewood. Bed linens, bath towels and beach towels are not provided, so guests will need to bring their own.
The lake is managed for big smallmouth bass and healthy landlocked salmon. Angling guests will enjoy catching these prized smallmouths and doing battle with leaping silvery salmon. Fishermen will also enjoy catching the lake’s largemouth bass, chain pickerel and white perch. Adventurous anglers seeking eastern brook trout can also venture up the lake’s two tributaries, Penknife Stream and Mill Stream, and catch Maine’s state fish using flies or the traditional garden hackle. In these streams, the brook trout average between 6 to 10 inches in length.
The Sandpiper Cottage is also only 12 miles away from the seaside village of Eastport with its many ocean vistas, seafood restaurants and maritime excursions, such as the three masted schooner Sylvia Beal. From Eastport visitors can take the ferry to Canada’s Deer Island, and from there board a ferry to mainland Canada.
Campobello Island, also a part of Canada, is reachable either by ferry or a 40 minute drive through Lubec, Maine. On Campobello, visitors can tour the historic summer home and grounds of Franklin D. Roosevelt, play golf at the excellent course at Herring Cove or hike to the East Quoddy Head lighthouse and view the frequent spouting whales.
The Quoddy Bay area off Eastport is one of the most scenic and rich marine environments on the coast of Maine. The area is teaming with wildlife that includes many species of whales, porpoises, dolphin, eagles, osprey, ducks and shorebirds. Eastport is also close to the open Atlantic and offers ocean fishermen great opportunities to fish for cod, Atlantic mackerel, pollock and flounder.
Guests at this cottage are also only a hop, skip and jump away from St. Stephen and St. Andrews, Canada with their wonderful shops and scenic coastal settings. Remember to bring your Passport, so you can cross over into Canada for a day trip or two.
Other notable parks close by include Quoddy Head Park in Lubec, Cobscook Bay State Park in Edmunds and Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge in Baring. All of these parks are terrific areas for hiking and biking.
The cottage is 3 hours east of Bangor and 5½ hours northeast of Portland, 7 hours from Boston and 12 hours from New York City. It is also 1 hour from Machias and 2½ hours from Bar Harbor.
