This is a truly wonderful property on Jocassee. The cabin is rustic but has some of the best views of the lake available. It also has one of the best walks (few stairs and shallow grade) to the lake. The dock is both close and perfect for boating, swiming and kayaking.
The host is also terrific.
We had wonderful time in the summer of 2024 and cant wait to come back.
I'll get the small amount of negative comments out of the at first.....the road into the the property is treacherous, especially because it was raining when we arrived. Very steep, narrow turns and tight roads. I understand that people that live in the area, like the cleaners, are used to the mountain roads, but coming from the lower part of the state, it was eye opening. According to the instruction email I received, they recently expanded the drive to allow more parking near the house. That was very nice. The house was very clean and well maintained. Once we walked into the house and saw the lake from the back porch, we completely forgot about the driveway. The view is amazing. The lot gently slopes to the lake. The dock was perfect for our 3 jet skis. We kept our truck and trailer at the state park and drove the skis across the water. It's 5-10 minutes from the state park. The house is an older log cabin that has been updated nicely. We didn't do any cooking, but the kitchen has everything you need if you choose to. The back porch was amazing, we spent a lot of time just sitting looking at the lake.
The next time we stay here, and we will, we will bring our boat and load everything we need on it and boat to the house. If you can do that, then the driveway doesn't matter at all.
The cabin was exactly as advertised, and perfect for our weekend getaway! Wraparound deck was perfect for morning coffee, the house was clean and organized while fully stocked for everything we needed. Fall foliage was beautiful in November! The best weekend spot no matter what time of year, and thanks to Craig for being so responsive and helpful.
Great location with a rare lakefront property on beautiful Jocassee. Neighborhood road and driveway are super narrow with steep drops on the sides - go slowly. Definitely make use of boat trailer storage solutions given by the owner - I would not want to tow anything down that driveway. Walk to dock was not bad, but lots of loose rocks and big acorns - don’t recommend for elderly folks. House was as listed and communication with owner was timely and helpful. Great central location to visit waterfalls and explore Cashiers or Highlands, etc.
Our group had an awesome time at the cabin, we spent most of our days on the lake and evenings on the porch watching as the sun faded. The views from the cabin/property are better than the pics, and if you have a boat the dock and swim platform are in great shape! The cabin is truly a cabin, but clean and has everything you need for a great stay. Hope to stay here again in a few years when we are looking at Jocassee for a vaca again!
We had a wonderful time at this location and the views are amazing! House was very clean and had everything we needed since we brought our own keurig. The place for our boat was super nice to have and the recommended guy for our trailer storage was very friendly. This would not be a house for you if you have any walking issues, very small children or for older people though because that walk down to the water is a tough one that’s for sure and especially after it rained it was really slick. All in all a great trip though!!
We had a great time! The log cabin gave us the feel of staying in a hidden, upscale tree fort.
Elderly folks may not be able to make it down the hill to the dock, but we had no trouble.
We took our boat and had a blast discovering little waterfalls. Leaving the trailer and truck at the state park was easier than we expected, since we sent some of our things with our kids.
This cabin on jocassee has great lake access and great internet. Good internet in this part of the country is hard to find. Cabin comfortably sleeps three couples and up to 4 kids. I love this place.
Great views on the water. Rustic cabin and very remote. Recommend better mattress and easy arm chair for more senior folks in the interior living space. Access to the dock was difficult for us older folks. The overlook deck was helpful to manage that access. Recommend you get your groceries before you come. Overall a great getaway stay!
This cabin was amazing! My family and I had a wonderful stay. Being right on the lake is priceless. The house is super comfortable and the process of renting, arriving, etc. was easy and we had no trouble. Highly recommend!
Had a great week with family and friends at jocassee hideaway. rented a boat for the week that was delivered and provided much fun on our favorite lake. The house had all the things you need and felt spacious for our group of 7 + dogs. Loved the front porch and the view through the trees was just magical. The moon during our week was amazing and the property was positioned just perfectly for watching the moonrise. Craig is very easy to get and responsive. Feel lucky we have found this space hopefully for future time at Lake Jocassee.
Good, clean rustic cabin exactly as described. Plenty of room, great views. Will stay again. The only caution I would say is to those with children. There is on opening where the dock transitions from wood to metal. It's about a 10 foot drop to the water/rocks below. The opening is large enough that a child can fall through. My 10 year old did on our last day, luckily her aunt was right beside her to catch her before she went all the way through. You can easily step over the opening but you know how kids can get excited and not pay attention so I just wanted to make others aware. Other than that the stay was great.

Our family lives a little over an hour away in beautiful downtown Greenville, SC. My husband grew up on the coast of SC and I grew up on the Florida panhandle. We’ve now spent over half of our lives in Greenville but really love being able to enjoy such pristine water (with no sharks 😅) and the beautiful scenery and hiking of the surrounding mountains.
Why they chose this property
With only 37 home on Jocassee, we knew we had to jump at the opportunity to enjoy and share such a beautiful place. We had a cabin on Lake Keowee for nearly 15 years but it became too crowded for us to enjoy being there as much on a regular basis. We wanted to be more remote and to be able to explore.
