About this property
The Roundabout Cabin near Portsmouth, Ohio
Nestled on 4 wooded acres along Pond Creek, this one of a kind cabin will certainly be a unique experience. Walls of windows blur the lines between inside and out, connecting you with nature in every room. The house is very open, with rooms winding around the central stone fireplace with varying levels. The kitchen is stocked with supplies for preparing your own meals, but downtown Portsmouth restaurants are just 10 minutes away. Outside are patios for relaxing and woods for walking.
We live in the area but not on this property. Guests have the entire space, inside & out, to themselves.
This is a residential area and the neighbors enjoy the privacy of the dead-end road. It's pretty quiet out here and they appreciate a low level of noise after 10 pm. We hope you'll enjoy that as well.
You have access to the cabin and 4 acres. Due to safety concerns, the loft is inaccessible to guests. There are patios, fire pit, paths to explore, and a platform that overlooks the creek.
PLEASE NOTE the openness of this house is way cool. This means the bathroom and shower are open to the bedroom, which has no door. The bathroom does have a door to the main living area. Questions? Just ask.
There is a king size bed in the bedroom. For additional guests, the couch in the living room pulls out to a queen size bed. The cabin is pet-friendly and we only ask that pets are kept off the furniture and bedding. We allow pets to stay for free and this helps us keep it that way! The interior of the cabin is non-smoking.
If you head south on State Route 73, you're about 5 minutes from Giovanni's (pizza, sandwiches, pasta) and an IGA for groceries. The Boneyfiddle Historic District of Portsmouth is also south about 10 minutes.
There is firewood available for use in the firepits. Bringing firewood from where you live can spread harmful insects and diseases. Please help protect the local trees and forest by only using the firewood provided.

About the host

We love living in the Appalachian Foothills. It's a beautiful place and we enjoy Shawnee State Park, the forest, and the Historic Boneyfiddle District of Portsmouth. Appalachia is a special place and we like that we have the opportunity to share unique spaces with those who visit.
Why they chose this property
The Roundabout Cabin borders the Tremper Mound property. Tremper is an ancient Indian burial mound and the property is being preserved by Arc of Appalachia. The mound is open to the public (please use the public access located on State Route 73) and hiking trails are being developed on the property.
What makes this property unique
This property is a work of art. Local builder Jack Vetter painstakingly built this cabin using local resources and reclaimed materials. It's a one of a kind space. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do!
