Beautiful views

The house is beautiful and the views are spectacular. The only Complaint that we had was the cleaning of the house. The refrigerator had not been cleaned from the last people and we had to wipe it down. We were picking up crayons and cereal off the den floor when we arrived. I would stay here again but the cleaning team needs to do a better job

BEEEUTIFUL, SUPER COMFORTABLE HOUSE W/SPECTACULAR VIEWS!

We were a group of 7 adults (multi-generational) and we all really had a good time at this house. The great room is very welcoming, the kitchen is clean and very well equipped, all the bedrooms were super comfortable, clean and welcoming....everything in the house had been carefully selected and was of good quality. The surprize feature was the wonderful upper patio which had plenty of lounging furniture and the most stupendous views! There are incredible, easy hikes around the house, and it's just minutes away from shopping. Would we return - yes we would!

Great VRBO Experience!

Our family stayed at the Canon Retreat over Labor Day weekend. Everyone loved the property. It is as good as advertised! When we return, we will definitely look to stay here again!

Perfect Retreat!

We were in town for our son’s graduation from the Air Force Academy. This house was perfect for our family to gather from across the country. Everyone had their own private room and the great room allowed us to cook, eat, and socialize together before and after all of the events. The views are amazing! We took advantage and had a photographer come and take portraits with the mountains as a beautiful back drop. The grandfathers especially loved sitting on the deck to relax after a tiring day at altitude. We had some issues with animals getting into the trash the first couple of days but the management staff was helpful in cleaning it up and replaced the cans with locking ones which prevented this from happening again. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it highly.

We had the best mini reunion in the woods. This place has hiking steps outside and the most incredible views of the stars And mountains. We loved this place. Very easy to sleep the group of 10. Easy cooking in the huge kitchen. There is a bit of a windy road to get to the place and there are close by neighbors. The most incredible house on the side of a hill. Thanks for the amazing stay!

Absolutely Amazing!

The house was everything we wanted and more for our Florida group. The mountain views from the great room are spectacular! Everyone loved hiking right from the back of the house, the second story deck was a favorite for getting some sun during the day and stargazing at night. The great room allowed us all to be together while some cooked, some watched TV and others gathered at the table to play card games in the evenings. We stayed over Christmas and were delighted to find a beautifully decorated tree when we arrived. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of pillows and blankets to go around. This home was truly everything we wanted for our Christmas holiday.

Beautiful home

We stayed here while I attended a conference at a local hotel. This home is as beautiful as the pictures! I really appreciated the body wash, shampoo, conditioner and hand lotion that all bathrooms were stocked with. We also appreciated the coffee. We loved the rooftop deck. The heated floors were great for the chilly mornings. Kitchen was well stocked with spices. Would highly recommend this property to anyone interested. If we come back here would stay again.

Beautiful Mountain Home

We rented this home for a family vacation (6 adults, 7 kids). The pictures on the site were so enticing we had to book it. Upon arrival, everything appeared just as it did on VRBO. The setup of the home was perfect for our combination of adults and kids. The views were spectacular, both porches were outstanding, and the house had plentiful supplies for cooking, bathing, sleep, and games. While the property appears remote, it is 10-15 minutes from downtown Colorado Springs, so we had a great combination of nature plus the convenience of a small city close by. There are many attractions close by that we were able to do such as the Cheyenne Zoo (get there early), 7 Falls Park (the gate is only a one mile hike from the house), Garden of the Gods, and a tour up Pike’s Peak (we used Manitou Springs Adventures, they were amazing) among other things. We were there in the summer and the house can get quite hot, but they had very good instructions how to use the skylight and window screens to keep cool, especially at night. Check in and check out were very easy. The owners and managers were helpful and quick to respond to questions. If you like nature, this is a fantastic spot. There is a trail right outside the back of the house. We saw lots of deer grazing outside the house, and a curious bear and raccoon both walked across the porch to see what was going on. I would highly recommend this property if you are visiting Colorado Springs. We could not have asked for a better time staying here and will definitely book again if we are visiting the area in the future. What a wonderful experience!

Magical serenity

We rented this gorgeous home for our home base during my daughter's graduation from the Air Force Academy! It was the perfect spot to unwind and reflect after busy days and our family enjoyed joining us for cake and champagne while watching the sunset over the mountains. I was thrilled to walk down the street to the Starsmore Nature Center to unwind with some hikes along the cheyenne canyon ! The only regret we have- is having to leave!

Totally Perfect

My family and I stayed here over Christmas and it was everything we could have hoped for. The home is as beautiful as the pictures make it seem! Stunning Home with Equally Stunning Views

Book this house! We were in Colorado Springs for a Memorial for my father-in-law. What a perfect place to share memories of a remarkable man. A stunning panoramic view of the mountains, feels very secluded but just minutes from the town center. The dedication to craftsmanship is everywhere you look. Also, love the sustainable aspects of the home as well. Pictures truly do not do justice to this home. The kitchen was well-stocked with all of the amenities needed. Coffee, creamer and a fabulous state-of-the-art expresso/cappuccino machine were the first things we noticed in the kitchen (there is also a regular coffee maker.) The kitchen is well-equipped with almost anything you might need. Plenty of spices and such for cooking. The bathrooms all had plenty of hotel quality supplies in case you forgot to pack your own. Kudos to enough hot water to keep up with this large crowd, no one ever complained of a cold shower. As another traveler noted, the 6th bedroom with the bunkbeds is accessed through one of the other bedrooms. Since we had a young family with 2 small children, this worked perfectly for us. If it had been 6 couples, might have been a little odd (but don't let that stop you from choosing this place, just nice to know ahead of time.) We definitely would have slept outside on the upper deck Murphy beds had it not been at the end of November. The radiant heat floors throughout the house are a nice touch on chilly nights. The Master Bath has a unique soaking tub with a direct line of sight to the beautiful mountain views. We would definitely stay here again! Trina and the gang :)

Beyond our expectations

We loved our stay! It checked every box for us! Thank you Elisha and Ryan! We came from several east coast states to enjoy a family wedding at the Pinery and celebrate a 70th birthday. Six of us stayed at the house but on Friday evening and then Sunday we were able to host extended family for outdoor exploring and a meal. Every one was in awe over how wonderful this home is. The house is sizable with a beautiful open gathering area of the kitchen, dining and living area which is expanded by the deck area. One evening we were enjoying the deck and realized that we had deer within a few feet of us off the deck. The deer are comfortable in the area of Canon and Cheyenne so keep your eyes open when you drive. The bird watching was great, there were numerous birds different from what we usually see. The bird feeders and hummingbird feeders attracted lots of activity. The views are spectacular! It was so hard to leave! We were able to access the upper deck though it is still under construction. We checked it out but it wasn't until we showed it to our guests Friday evening that we realized that the hummingbird paintings at the top of the stairs showed brilliantly with the night black light. That was just one of the many personal artistic touches in the house. From the decks you can see the Broadmoor and Pikes Peak. Just a short walk from the property you can visit a Nature Center and access hiking paths. The house can sleep well beyond the amount of people that we had but just for future knowledge, the parking is limited. It wasn't a problem for us but if you are thinking of having a group of people and different cars coming and going,you may need to rethink that. Elisha and Ryan responded to our communications promptly and made sure that we enjoyed their lovely home. FYI, the view is wonderful but if you have die-hard sports fans, they might be disappointed with the access. Our Penn State fan family members spent a long time trying to access their various streaming accounts and matching laptops and streaming but eventually just had to watch the game on a lap top.

Captivating House and Views!

As if this fabulous house was lacking in positive reviews - well, here’s another! Our family of 6 just had a fabulous Summer vacation in this wonderfully designed house. The views - you could just look at the mountains all day and never get tired of looking! We loved the great room and kitchen and the bedrooms were all a great fit for our family. As one family member put it, once you are here, why would you ever want to leave?

Wonderful property, incredible view!

We had a family reunion (12 people), and there were so many comments of how beautiful the property was, and the view even more special! The house is so well built, my husband kept commenting on the craftsmanship. :) The young-adult cousins enjoyed sleeping outside in the murphy beds on the top deck, even though it was a little chilly. The only comment I have for future renters is to be aware of the sleeping arrangements. Don't let it stop you from renting, but we had a little bit of a challenge deciding where everyone should sleep. The bunk bed room (two bunks) is accessed through the double-bed room. The nice thing about the bunk beds is that the two bottom bunks are larger than a standard bunk, so two kids could probably sleep in one together. We didn't have any kids, but it worked out fine with our five young adult cousins. The oldest slept in the double and the other four in the bunks. My husband and I ended up in the queen bed loft - comfortable, but a little awkward. Just something to keep in mind. We never did find the second twin that one reviewer said was an air-mattress, but we didn't really need it. Also to note, the twin in the room with one of the queen bed's is actually in an alcove in the wall - pretty cool and convenient for a kid to sleep with the parents, but not big enough for a teen, probably. Don't let these comments stop you, though! We loved the house! A big plus for us - the house is very convenient to Seven Falls, the Broadmoor, and Garden of the Gods - try the Broadmoor Soaring Adventure (zip lining) - it was incredible! You can see one of the lines from the house!

As the homeowners, Ryan and Elisha Whitten, of The Cañon Retreat Vacation Home, we are excited to share the comforts of our home with you. As a family of five with 3 creative and energetic children, we enjoy exploring the world and doing so by bicycle! 2008 was the first year we decided to explore as a family through Asia for 6 months, from Singapore to China. Ryan was raised by a master carpenter and now is a master in carpentry himself. You can see his fine work throughout our entire home, from the large dinning wood table, to wood counter tops ....even the master bed frame was designed and built specifically for this Cañon Retreat!

This property is magical. When we first came across it about 5 years ago, we saw so much potential. Ryan has such an eye for design and knew working with the large timber beams in the great room, this place would be a real treasure! Backing up to open space and trails...anyone can see why we jumped to the opportunity!
