Great Place!!

Very Cabin like feel. You felt like you were secluded from everyone. The dog is so sad that she does not live there. The house had everything we needed for the 6 days/nights.

House was very large. All the bedrooms very comfortable, kitchen well stocked with all the dishes, glassware and pans needed. Great family room for watching TV. Beautiful view of the lake; very peaceful. I won't be able to rent it again as there were too many stairs to get to the house and down to the water and I have bad knees.

It was our second time here and it was amazing! Great location on the lake 5min from the boat rentals, warm lake house vibes, and Sherry was amazing and attentive.

Positive first stay on Lake Gaston

My family's first experience on Lake Gaston was a pleasure. Lake is very clean and with the large amount of homes on the lake it seemed not crowded. Our lake house was rustic at the same time clean and a good layout for gathering with the family. Only negative we had to provide our linens and towels. This was first property we had to go this.

Loving lake life!

My family, me, husband, our 7 and 5 year old girls, and my mom had a great week here! The home is situated on a quiet cove and we had a great time swimming off the dock. We also rented a pontoon and cruised all around the lake. The house is nicely appointed with 2 bedrooms upstairs, 2 downstairs, and 3 bathrooms, one with a tub. The girls loved the outdoor shower! We played lots of games and enjoyed ping pong. The property manager has excellent communication and was quick to answer questions. We look forward to coming back again!

50th Sorority Line Reunion

Setting is beautiful. House had a musty order especiyy downstairs. Refrigerator temperature was slow in cooking. No linen service was a drawback considering the $500+ per day.

Lakeside Views

Our family enjoyed the views and the other amenities (fire pit, lakeside deck, and canoe). The weather during our time ranged from cloudy and pleasant, to rainy and cool, to typical sunny May day. We had the space to spread out and do puzzles and read, all with wonderful views of the Lake. Also used this location as a base for exploring, including a trip to the Sylvan Bird Center. Host was exceptionally accommodating and friendly. We would definitely stay again when planning a trip to Lake Gaston.

Perfect House

The house and location were great. House was well stocked plenty of cookware, dinnerware, and supplies. Even a fresh made chocolate cake. We had 4 adult couples and plenty of room. beds were comfy. House was clean. The firepit area was great to hangout after dark. we will certainly be back.

End of Summer Getaway

We had a great stay, the house is a classic lake house with everything you need. The kitchen was stocked very well and the house was clean. The homemade baked goods was a pleasant surprise and very tasty! We used the kayaks everyday and caught so many fish from the dock and kayaks, even several large mouth bass. It was too hot for a evening fire in the firepit, so we will be back again in the fall or spring. Sherry - thank you for sharing your house with us, we had a great time. It was a pleasure working with you.

Family time at the lake

We really enjoyed our time on Lake Gaston. The house was right on beautiful Lake Gaston. We enjoyed fishing, swimming, boating, and just relaxing. The house was perfect for what our family needed. It is a rustic home with a lot of charm. Although the house is a bit older, it accommodated our family perfectly. Everyone truly enjoyed this vacation!!

Perfect Lakehouse

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! It truly is a great location on the lake and floating in the lake is the perfect remedy to a crazy year!! The kids enjoyed floating and kayaking. We were welcomed with a text and email by the owner. She was very fast responding to any questions we had. The house was clean and ready for us as advertised. We even arrived to a chocolate cake. The views from the deck are amazing. We used the kayaks and ping pong table daily. I learned that I need to workout more. If you are looking for a relaxing lake vacation, this is the place. The Food Lion grocery store provided plenty of choices for grilling. Next year, we'll rent a boat for a day or two.

Wonderful getaway!

My husband and I brought our son and three of his friends to stay on beautiful Lake Gaston. The house had the perfect layout for us. The boys had the lower level with the two bedrooms and bathroom, tv and ping pong table. Upstairs, we enjoyed the nicely appointed kitchen and the large deck and its view of the lake. The boys had a blast fishing off the dock and kayaking or canoeing. One night an 8 pound bass was caught right off the dock! The fire pit was a hit for s'mores and the comfortable adirondack chairs at the water's edge was a favorite spot. The nicely decorated house and superbly landscaped yard made for an excellent vacation for all of us. I can't say enough about this house. It's a wonderful getaway!

Nice Long Weekend

We decided last minute (1 week!) to spend a 4-day weekend at Lake Gaston while we put our house on the market and we’re fortunate to hook up with Sherry and the property on North Triton. When my bank erroneously declined my credit card charge due to suspected fraud activity, I explained to Sherry what had happened. She said not to worry and promised to hold the property for us until we were able to get the charge reprocessed which took another 24 hours. It was then our good fortune since it was early in the season that there was no rental on either side of us so Sherry invited us to check in at 10am on Thursday and stay until 5pm Sunday. The extra time really made our weekend. While the house is clearly older, it was super clean and well stocked with all essentials. Super location. While other homes are nearby, it is isolated enough by woods and ravines that we had no concerns allowing our 1-year old lab to roam the nice yard and lakefront without worry of running off. House is only 10 minutes from Food Lion, The Pointe restaurant and boat rentals. Overall, a great introduction for our first time at Lake Gaston. We’ll be back! Thanks Sherry!

Great weekend away!

We had the best weekend at this property! It had a great spot on the lake and the house was open and accommodating. Sherry, the property manager, was great to work with. There a the best chocolate cake waiting for us in the refrigerator and when we had a question so handled it immediately. Would definitely recommend!

Can't beat the view!!!!

We really enjoyed this property. The house is older, but it added to its uniqueness. It was almost like a log cabin. There was a bit of a musty smell, but it didn't bother us. We spent a lot of time on the deck. The kitchen was well stocked with essentials (so much so there was not much room for pantry items, so just be aware of that if you bring a lot of food - there is plenty of space on the counter). The kitchen was recently updated. The view from the deck was simply amazing. It's wooded, so very private. I loved the tall trees and beautiful lake view. It was very peaceful and relaxing. The place was very clean. Bedrooms and bathrooms were fine. We enjoyed a night by the firepit - again, can't beat that view. We fished from the top of the boat dock (in fact I caught a large catfish!). Sherry was extremely responsive and a wonderful person to work with. I would rent from here again for sure!

Disappointing

Our stay was disappointing. The realtor had oversold the property. We paid top dollar for a property that should have been worth half that amount. The air filters were filthy and I had to change them myself. The smell of mildew permeated the house. The kitchen was disorganized with chipped dishes and lacking proper cooking essentials for a week stay (we had to bring in our own knives to carve the turkey as well as other items). The appliances were old. The dishwasher was so loud it could only be run at night and the oven with a microwave (had a cemented handle) had no working cooking lights. There was broken furniture on the deck and inside the house. See through shower curtains had soap scum on them and one bathroom had no towel rack only broken ends. Several mattresses were difficult to sleep on for a week. Closets lacked hangers and hampers for clothes. Front outside stair lights never worked. There was also no trash pickup and an expectation for us to haul our own trash to the dump (we did not have pickup trucks with us) almost on a daily basis for five people. All the issues were reported to the realtor, Sherry Williams, with pictures. It took over a month for her to respond. This makes me very cautious to ever use VRBO again. I certainly will not book with this agent. We have not been properly reimbursed for being overcharged. The house had a beautiful scenic view and the antique decorations were lovely. The house description and cost was not accurate to the house that was delivered. This rental is a bad reflection on VRBO.
