About this property

BEST LOCATION; SKI RUN CORNER on GROUND FLOOR; G.S. BLDG 3; ski in/out

Location! Location! Location!

This 2bdr 2ba ski condo is on the ski run corner and the 1st floor so it is in the absolute best spot for ski (or ride) in and out to the giant steps ski lodge (and access to chairs 2 and 3).

You can watch the riders in the tubing park through the corner windows in the warmth of the cozy living room. Enclosed parking is directly below the unit. There is a shared jacuzzi hot tub and sauna at the club house between buildings 1 and 2 that also has a game room.

There is covered parking in the enclosed garage that is under the condo (note: 80" max vehicle height), and limited outdoor parking at the end of the building

Tubing area and snow play area is just outside the door, with lighted night skiing on chair 3 and in the tubing park on weekend and holiday nights.

This corner unit has additional balcony and window space compared to all interior units. Unit is fully equipped for cooking and has cable tv in both bedrooms, as well as in the living room.

The ski resort's Giant Steps day lodge now features live music on many Friday and Saturday nights and you can easily walk there.

This unit is very comfortable and convenient for families. It may not be as fancy as some units, but it is clean and cozy. Living room also has a blue tooth sound system that is connected to the tv for improved sound. The couch has dual recliners, there is a Lazy Boy rocker/recliner, and an over sized love seat.

Please, no smoking or pets in the unit.

NOTE: This condo DOES NOT have reliable internet access. There is wifi available in the clubhouse between buildings 1 and 2. There is a T-Mobile cellular hotspot but it has a 50 GB data limit each month.

But if you need dedicated wifi internet access in the condo, this is not the unit that you should rent.
However, there is reliable cell phone service from the major providers if you have your own hotspot service on your cell phone.

There is a DVD player with some DVD titles, and the TV is capable of streaming content if you bring a hotspot to connect to it. There is no loner any cable tv service at any of the Giant Steps units.

There are also some (analog) games and puzzles, and more coat hooks than you have likely ever seen in one place:)

Book the best location on the actual mountain that most skiers/boarders prefer to use.

Note: Giant Steps properties are NOT wheelchair accessible and/or ADA compliant due to the nature of our parking garage and are privately owned residential condo dwellings

Great location!

Great location for intermediate and expert skiers and snowboarders! Hop on your skis/boards and ride straight to the chairlift! Stop by the condo for lunch and get back on the slopes without missing a beat! The owner’s boot/glove tree is ingenious—we all had dry gear every morning even though some of us came back with soaking wet gear every night.

Ski In/ Ski Out Comfort

This condo was the perfect respite after a long day on the slopes. Great location with easy access to the Giant Steps lodge. Condo had all the essentials plus a few extras, like humidifier and crockpot, that made the stay more enjoyable. Would definitely book here again.

Suggestion

Better instructions on how to use TV to get to streaming services. Also property provide a bucket for wood so you don't have to keep going back and forth. Otherwise everything else good.

Great stay

We have been to brianhead many times, usually staying at giant steps. The property was cozy and had all the things we needed for a successful stay including cooking at the condo. Beds were comfortable which is important. Snow was amazing for skiing and being in bldg 3 is a plus from the standpoint of having momentum heading to the lift so you don’t have to walk or shuffle the rest of the way there.

Great location, outdated and no WiFi

The location can’t be beat but the condo is so outdated. Had no lighter, toaster, WiFi, can opener. Just missing a lot of essentials. Every surface is covered in nick nacks so it felt very crowded. Probably wouldn’t rent again. But we had an incredible time sledding right on the tube area, playing in snow right out our window and skiing was epic!

Appropriately priced

The owner's description is accurate and the furnishings are somewhat dated. However, everything we used was functional and clean. The location is exceptional and truly ski in/out for moderate-to-advanced skiers as the Shotgun trail takes you right back to the steps of the unit. Otherwise, it's a short walk back from the Giant Steps lift. It was also an easy walk to the market/Thai/pizza central area for young children. Our kiddos had a blast playing in the snow just outside the property making forts and snowmen and navigating a sled through some trees. They could play in an area that we could keep an eye on them right from the patio. As mentioned in some other reviews, the WiFi was basically non-existent. The TV's we're equipped for Netflix, etc., but essentially non-functional. Our T-Mobile devices could get decent signal (2/5 bars) near windows. Overall the unit is a great value. We look forward to visiting again.

Love our stay at the Giant Step lodging. It is a great location, location, location.

Our family of 5 love the place. Definitely ski in and ski out. However one has to be an intermediate skier to ski in from Shot Gun trail. Place is fully stocked and clean. Internet works but spotty.

Clean, convenient ski-in-ski out condo

This property was a terrific value for money. It was one of the cleanest and best-equipped condos we've used in Brian Head over the years. The condo would comfortably accommodate 3-4 kids in the second bedroom, as well as having a comfortable living room. The owners were very responsive and generous in accommodating our requests. Kitchen and the abundant kitchenware were cleaner than typically found elsewhere. There was plenty of hot water when showering (yay!), and we had no problem keeping the rooms at a comfortable temperature. The only negative experience was the unreliable internet that made an all-day zoom meeting challenging, but phone and cable TV access were fine. We would definitely stay here again.

great location

This place is a great ski in ski out. On the first floor by the stairs from the garage, which is great because of the elevation. The beds and couches are comfortable. The owner has a hand out that I downloaded that is very helpful with details on codes, how to get there, where to park in the garage, shuttles, and how to ski back to the condo. One thing that he needs to add to the list is where the heater control is to the room with the bunk beds. It is behind the upper bunk. It took me a while to find it. This place is very nice. I can't wait to stay here next season.

Great Location!!

The location was great. It was so nice to have the ski in/ out location. Place is clean. We did have issues with the WiFi, even after we reset it. It also would have been nice to know that the rec room or the sauna would not be open. But we understand with the COVID.

Relaxing Christmas Break

Had a great stay at Giant Steps 61. Location is awesome. The listing, pictures and expectations were pretty much spot on. The beds are comfy. The kitchen is clean and stocked with all the little things we forget. The owner is very responsive and we will be going back.

You get what you pay for

I feel that reviews are to give information on what you are paying for and here as advertised this place is the best value although there are some issues. The add says it's not fancy but there is a huge difference in out dated and worn out! The 2 beds are both full size which is very difficult for 2 adults to sleep on, not to mention they desperately need to be replaced. They were so uncomfortable and we could not get a full nights sleep. My family can deal with no flat screen tv's, shotty internet and outdated decor although when we cannot sit comfortably on any of the 3 sofas because they are so worn out. On the positive side, the owners communication and information was outstanding. It is very clean. The condo is ski in and for the most part ski out with a short walk to the lift which made it very convenient. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you would need. Convenient underground parking but just a warning our truck fit with only inches to spare.

Great Condo for our Family

My family stayed in this unit over the Christmas holidays. It was a perfect unit for our family of 4. Plenty of room to spread out and the kitchen was stocked with everything you need to cook! The door to get to the ski in/out was just outside of our unit and we were able to walk to the torch light ceremony and fireworks at Giant Steps Lodge New Years Eve in addition to sledding right outside and skiing in/out! We could also walk to the new tubing area (and see it from our windows). The unit was also very quiet and great underground parking. We are going back next year!

About the host

Hosted by R. Bruce Pocock

Host profile image
We have skied and boarded all over the western U.S., Canada, and a bit in Europe. Since we live in Needles, Ca., there are not many ski areas as close as Brianhead that get reasonable amounts of natural snow. We have owned this unit since it was built in 1984. We love it here!

Why they chose this property

We selected in building #3 while it was being built. We liked the extra windows on the corner units, and wanted a condo on the ground floor, closest to the ski run so that it would be easy to dash in for a hot drink, to get lunch or a snack (or some other type of fortification), and be right back out on to the slopes. The thin air (highest base elevation of any ski area in the country @ over 9,000') makes every flight of stairs a major ordeal, especially now that we are a little older:)

What makes this property unique

Covered underground parking makes it easier to bring your stuff in and out of your car. A dumbwaiter carries it up and down for you without being out in the snow. The ski run corner makes it easy to get on and off the slopes.
