About this property
Storybook Farmhouse in the Woods
A whimsical farmhouse nestled on 5 wooded acres with two small creeks. Surrounded by a tranquil forest, this 2-bedroom one and a half story fairy-tale cottage is truly magical. Relax and unwind on the front and back porches.
Whether you're planning a private romantic getaway for two, or a place where kids can roast marshmallows and explore nature, it's the perfect space for all ages.
The house is a twenty minute drive to downtown Asheville and only five minutes from the grocery store.
The farmhouse is tucked away on a five-acre private forest with two creeks running through it, outside Asheville city limits, but still close to everything! Minutes away from the French Broad river and only a 20 minute drive into downtown Asheville. The yard is a shared space. Feel free to use the fire pit and bring a hammock to hang from the trees.
The house is a brand new construction completed in 2025. Caretaker's apartment is located on site. You'll have the entire house to yourselves, except for the basement which is locked.
The attic bedroom can be accessed through the library's hidden bookcase door! Be careful to open and close the door slowly so as not to knock anything off the shelves.
The forest is yours to explore! Bears do visit the area so be careful when out in the woods. There are also deer and wild turkeys along with various other wildlife that roam the thickets. There's poison ivy in the forest too, hike at your own risk. There are two creeks that run through the property, both are around 3 feet wide and only inches deep. They make beautiful sounds. There's a second fire pit off the driveway next to the creek that's also yours to share. The fire pit next to the house is reserved for your use only. There's some fencing along the borders of the property, but most of the land is not fenced. If you want to explore, please review the areal photo to get an idea where the boundaries are.
The main floor and attic bedroom are all yours. The owners private storage area is in the basement and it's locked up and off limits. The 5 acre forest is a shared space, but you have your own private fire pit. Caretaker lives on site. The tiny house is private, but feel free to walk around the outside. There's also a carport with a shipping container next to the tiny house, it's used for storage and is locked up. Feel free to roam around anywhere outside.
Other things to note
The gravel driveway is steep and winding. Don't stop on an incline. You don't need 4-wheel drive to navigate the driveway, but you do need momentum to get uphill.
The wood stove is equipped with artificial, flickering flame candles that can be turned on and off with a remote. No fires are allowed in the house. Feel free to enjoy a fire outside in the fire pit.

About the host
Hosted by Katie Damien

I'm a writer, filmmaker and photographer. I love to travel and used to work on cruise ships. I've been to all 7 continents, I know how to make beer, I had a short film play at the Cannes Film Festival, I've been skydiving, scuba diving, bungee jumping and Zorbing. When I'm not making movies or adventuring around the world, I like to curl up with a good book and full pot of tea.
Why they chose this property
I have always dreamed of living in a quiet home in the Appalachian mountains, surrounded by woods and close to running water. After six years of intensive searching, I was extremely lucky to find this raw land just outside Asheville. In 2025 I moved into a house I designed, complete with a library. This home is truly a dream come true.
What makes this property unique
This modern farmhouse is nestled at the center of a lush 5 acre forest, bordered by two small creeks. Enjoy majestic, towering trees and fresh mountain air in a newly constructed, custom-built home. Far enough from the hustle and bustle for privacy, yet still a short drive into town.
