About this property
Charming historical home in the countryside of Dillwyn, near Farmville
Welcome to our charming historic three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom home, nestled in the peaceful countryside, just a short drive from local universities, wineries and shopping areas.
Relax in the spacious living areas, unwind on the front porch, or explore the surrounding area. There’s plenty of room to rest and recharge. The kitchen is perfect for home-cooked meals, or you can venture out to the nearby winery for tastings and local fare.
The Eppes House consists of a historic middle section built in 1797. Two wings were added 15 years ago. The one wing is a two car garage with an apartment above it. That space is a separate rental unit. Because it is separated by a wing it would be rare for you to come in contact with anyone renting it. If you need more space than the main house offers , be sure to check out that listing.
The older section of the home has a country kitchen that is fully stocked and has a coffee/tea bar for you to enjoy. Upstairs you will find two beautifully appointed bedrooms. One with two twin beds and one with a queen bed. All have new hybrid mattresses. Please note that because of the age of the home there are no bathroom upstairs on this side of the home. Downstairs you will find a uniquely decorated dining room with a large French farmhouse dining table. Past the dining room there is a full bath and beyond that there is a laundry room/half bath. Moving on to the large living room there is plenty of room to relax. The pull out sofa is a queen bed if needed. There is a second upstairs that has a beautiful master bedroom with a king hybrid mattress and a large attached full bath with a separate shower and jacuzzi tub! Downstairs enjoy a living room with a nice bar equiped with a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Step out onto the patio equipped with a Solo Stove firepit and a gas grill. Firewood, fire starters and propane included. Outside enjoy 2 porches facing the open backyard.
The home has many fireplaces but unfortunately are unavailable for use. Each bedroom and the two living rooms have new Roku TVs for a total of 5 tvs. Our Starlink internet works very well even though we are out in the country. You will find plenty of parking on the horseshoe driveway. Please do not park in the parking area in front of the attached garage and leave the left side of the driveway open. That is reserved for the guest of the attached apartment.
No smoking or vaping inside the home or near entrances. Please dispose of cigarette butts in the receptacle on the patio.
We allow up to two well behaved, house broken dogs ( no cats, reptiles or other animals). Please no pets on furniture, beds or bedding. Please bring your own pet supplies. We do have food and water bowls and bags to discard their waste. Your pet must be on a leash at all times when outside on the property.
Unfortunately our home isn't set up for children or those with mobility issues. Due to the nature of the age of part of the home there are original stair banisters that are under 30". Please do not lean on or over these for your safety. Because of this it is not a good fit for younger children. if you have a mature older child feel free to reach out to us to discuss. Thank you!
Enter through the front door with the electronic key code you will receive before check in and please lock up when you leave.
We are out in the country but there will be some noise from the road. You might even hear the horse and buggies going down the road, especially on the weekends.
