About this property
The Village House A Charming Refurbished Irish Period Home in County Galway
Charming 1850s Village Home – Fully Restored with Unique History & Character.
Step back in time while enjoying all the comforts of modern living in this beautifully restored 19th-century home. Nestled in a peaceful village just 35 minutes east of Galway, it is located directly in front of the historic O'Mannion Castle Site, a striking connection to the area's medieval past.
Originally built in 1850 as a single-story thatched cottage, the Disken family transformed it in 1890 into a distinctive two-story residence, complete with a unique rendered facade that still stands out today.
In 1947, local businessman Tim Devaney purchased the home, which remained in the Devaney family for many years, becoming a cherished part of the community’s heritage. More recently, the house passed to a village native, and—together with the skill and dedication of local tradespeople—has undergone a meticulous two-year restoration, breathing new life into the property while preserving its timeless charm.
Thoughtfully updated throughout, the home offers a perfect blend of traditional character and modern comfort.
