About this property

Les Trois Terrasses - A Memorable Vacation In A Charming Village House

Welcome to Les trois terrasses centrally located in Roussillon, in the heart of the Luberon mountains. Our traditional stone Provencal house offers a comfortable accommodation for up to six people. The house includes a living room/dining room with a sectional sofa bed, fireplace and TV with satellite British programmes and a dining room table and six chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large stove (gas cooktop and electric oven), dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven and large fridge.
There are four spacious bedrooms: one has a queen-sized bed, en-suite bathroom with bathtub, satellite TV and terrace with a view. The second bedroom has a double bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. The third bedroom has twin beds and in the fourth bedroom there is a single bed. Both the third and fourth bedrooms share a bathroom with shower and a balcony with a panoramic view.
One of the highlights of Les trois terrasses is a large terrace off the kitchen, an oasis of serenity where, after a long day of traveling you can cool off in the small dipping pool, bask in the sunshine, read a book and, of course, enjoy food and wine in the shaded summer dining area.
Your vacation experience at Les trois terrasses starts in Roussillon, one of the most beautiful villages in Provence. Roussillon sites include an 18th century Town Hall, 17th century church and towering ramparts. Roussillon has narrow winding streets and a village square with outdoor cafés, the meeting place for locals and visitors alike. At over 300 meters elevation you also get wonderful panoramic views across the valley to the Grand Luberon, the slopes of Mont Ventoux, and the plateau of the Vaucluse. But Roussillon is most renowned for its unforgettable ochre quarry. The rich warmth of the quarry's colours are everywhere in the village. From Roussillon it is an easy drive to other popular perched villages such as Gordes, Lacoste and Bonnieux. Excursions to Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, Cassis and many other destinations can be made easily during the day.
History, museums, architecture, antiquities, hiking, biking, Mediterranean beaches, gastronomy, wine tastings and vineyards, local markets, and shopping all await you in the Roussillon area.

Lovely Luberon Location

This beautiful house is located in the heart of this stunning village with great views. We chose the property because it looked like it belonged in the Luberon rather than being a property than could have been anyway. Wonderful quirky but spacious layout with just about all requirements covered for your holiday. We loved it. The village has an amazing bakery and some fab restaurants with incredible views. It was very easy to visit the other spots in the beautiful area.

At home in Roussillon

Excellent base. Great having so many bathrooms. Loved the terrace, plunge pool and outdoor living. Lots of dining options indoor and outdoor. The location was perfect for accessing a lot close by, especially if you are into nature: poppies, lavender, rocky hills, gorges etc. Good markets close by. We didn't do a lot of long trips except to Pont du Gard, the Chauvet caves, the Carriere des Lumieres. A new find was the foret de cedres near Bonnieux. A lovely spot and even had a wheelchair "walk" which was great as one of us had recently broken a leg.

Great Stay in The Luberon - Loved it.

We spent 7 nights at this homestay. Christian is a wonderful host. Our flight was delayed and we missed our connection - consequently my aunt arrived a full day before us and he helped her navigate to the rental by herself in the dark. Christian answered all of our calls. The house is beautiful & oozes charm. Everything worked as it should. The photos on VRBO do not do it justice. The house is very well set up for a vacation rental - no photos of someones family on the walls, lots of books and DVDs, great internet, plenty of storage for our clothes and things, all the local tourist informational pamphlets, clean white bedding, dishwasher, hot hot water for bathing, 4 toilettes, 2 showers, 1 claw foot bathtub, full size washer, dryer was ok but there are 2 large dry lines outside. The cooling pool (imagine a cool large not-hot hot tub) was great. The outdoor grill was great for cooking without heating up the house. There is no AC available so it can get warm in the late evening - we were staying in July and temperatures were over 90F most days, but opening all the windows around 10PM and closing everything up around 10AM kept things comfortable. We cooked our dinners there most evenings and the kitchen felt very gourmet and very well stocked - the knives were dull but I sharpened them the best I could. Everything in the village is just a few minutes walk. Parking can be a challenge. The garage could fit a small fiat 500 or similar but did not fit our Jeep or our 5+2 Citroen. We were able to park one car along a wall behind the unit although I am still unsure if that was legal or not, it seemed the residents had a special sticker to park in these areas - regardless we did not get a ticket. There is also a long term parking lot for 3 Euros per day behind the Vival grocery store about a 5 minute walk. We did make the mistake of parking overnight in the central parking lot (which is free from 21:00h to 9:00h if I recall correctly) on market day and our car was towed. The local police were very friendly and helpful - they drove us to where the car was towed and the towing fee was a fraction of what you would pay in the U.S. Roussillon is beautiful. Lots of english speakers running the local businesses. Lots of tourist during the day, but we spent most days touring around the Luberon so we didn't see them too much. The town was very quiet in the mornings until about 10:00h and after 17:00h. I am out of characters - Overall, great, I recommend.

First the good news…

The house was in a perfect location for exploring Roussillon and the environs. It is an old house and had challenges but all in all it was a good choice for our party of five. Now for the not good news - the property manager was completely AWOL. Be aware there are three Roussillons and my phone first took us to the wrong one. the manager did not meet us but hid a key. didn’t tell us where to park. didn’t respond to many messages/questions and when the smoke alarm started to chirp we had to disable it ourselves. the cleaners showed up a day early. thelinens were terrible. if the property manager issue was resolved i would highly recommend this home - we had a lovely time in Roussillon and beyond but it certainly could have been less stressful.

Belle surprise !

Wonderful house at an amazing place

The house was bigger than expected and we had plenty of place to enjoy time together but also to be a bit by ourselves when wanted - with three teenagers this could happen now and then ;-) Kitchen provided everything needed to do own cooking, beds were comfortable and all was very clean. Just be aware that the bathroom is sort of integrated in the master bedroom, no door between them. Location is simply perfect: great view, option to do smaller grocery shopping in walking distance and absolutely quiet at nights. Christian was supportive and helpful at all times. Thank you!

On conseille 😉

Wonderful Views

Wonderful views of the ochre and the valley. Enjoyed coffee every morning on the terrace which is shaded from the sun at that time of the day. Later the patio is good for sunbathing and when you get hot you can take a dip. The pool is really a cool hottub but sufficient for the purpose. The location is great both for going into town to a bar or the boulangerie/boucherie and for exploring the Luberon. You will have to put up with the tourists however. A few negatives - the thick walls are insufficient to cool the house during 90 degree weather and our first week (high 90s) was a sweatbox without air conditioning (a couple of portable AC units would cure this). Parking can be tricky but we were mainly able to park on the street opposite the house (get a small car) - otherwise we parked in the public lot about 100 meters away. English language TV was very limited and the TV is not "smart". I suggest you bring a Roku device. The manager Christian was most helpful and the house came with most of what we needed. I contrast that with the house we moved to or our last week near Montpellier - no coffee maker, no herbs for cooking, no laundry detergent. I would rent here again but not in very hot weather.

Fantastic location, beautiful Provencal house

Ignore that first review; this place was lovely. Beautiful view from master bedroom, superbly quiet, fantastic tiled and furnished interior and all requirements catered for, with a homely feel. Great base for touring and walks. Would happily return. Christian is a warm and engaging and reliable person to deal with. Highly recommend a stay here. Don't hire a large car if you want to park near the house or survive local roads and traffic! Peter and Christine, Australia

Excellent value!

I guess that they fixed all of the problems that the other couple had. Everything worked, it was calm and serene on the terraces and yet we could walk a block into the village and had everything at our disposal. We rented for two weeks and loved it! We would recommend this rental for anyone wanting a central base to explore Provence. My wife bought food from the local farmers markets and we cooked every day. Wine is very reasonable as well.

provencal experience

Les Trois Terrasses is a hidden gem, even though it is in the heart of one of the most beautiful villages in Luberon. Great spot to base a week of touring the hill top villages and towns like Marseille, Aix-en-Provence and Avignon. After our day trips we enjoyed the main terrace, which made our stay as comfortables as it gets. Roussillon itself has everything we needed, such as bakery, cafés, restaurants, grocery store pharmacy. It was very helpful to have the property manager speaking fluent english.

4/10 Poor

Les Trois Terrasses

This is definetly a case of buyer beware! We have rented homes and condos in many different locations thru VRBO for many years, and never had an issue with a rental until now. My family stayed in this home from June 17-21, 2013. The interior of the home was in good condition, although more attention should be given to the cleaning, as there were cobwebs in many places. Also, the TV was not working throughout our stay, so we had no basic television service. The property manager did come to look at the TV and take measurements for a replacement, but a new one was never provided during our stay. The most disappointing part of our rental experience, was the condition of the main patio. One of the main reasons we reserved this house, was for the large outdoor patio with dipping pool/jacuzzi. The pictures on VRBO of the patio depict an oasis. However, it was anything but!! The jacuzzi was not working, and it was obvious it had not been for quite sometime. It was half filled with water, and full of mildew and dead leaves and branches. The majority of the plants on the patio were either dead of dying due to a lack of irrigation. Upon checkin, the patio floor was covered with dead branches and leaves, as no one had even taken the time to simply sweep it up. There was mildew on the patio floor and wall tiles and overall the area was dirty and in disrepair. Again, the property manager came out (after we complained via email to him) and looked at the jacuzzi, even bringing in a repair person, but nothing was ever done to repair or even clean the dirty jacuzzi. We ended up fininding the cover to the jacuzzi, which we placed over it to prevent insects and so we wouldn't have to look at the filthy thing! Also, all of the beautiful windows had planter boxes in them, which were filled with old, dirty, smelly plastic plants and flowers. As I didn't want to look at or smell these things during our stay, I removed them and placed them in a storage room. After demanding a partial refund, we did recieve some money back from the property manager. Ironically, he blamed the French housekeeper for all of the maintenence issues we encounted. The town of Rousillon is very beautiful. However, our stay in this home was quite disappointing. In the future, I will only reserve something on VRBO if it has positive guest reviews. This home did not have any reviews at the time we reserved it (apparantly mine is the first) which should have told me something.

What makes this property unique

We fall in love with the Luberon Region, especially with the hilltop village Roussillon. It is one of the most beautiful places in the South of France. In this village is everything what makes a vacation memorable...Restaurants, Bistros, Cafés, Bakery, Grocerystore, etc.
