About this property

A Countryside Escape – Where History Meets Modern Luxury

Tucked away in the rolling countryside of the Schoharie Valley, our enchanting 1820s farmhouse is a love letter to the past, thoughtfully restored to embrace the present. This is more than just a home—it’s an experience, an invitation to slow down, connect, and make memories that linger long after you leave.

From the moment you step through the original handcrafted front door, you are enveloped in the warm embrace of timeless design. To the left, the sunlit parlor—designed for intimate gatherings and effortless relaxation—boasts multiple seating areas, a game table, and access to the sprawling front porch, where classic Adirondack chairs invite leisurely morning coffee or evening aperitifs. Don’t forget to give the original 1820s doorbell a ring—it still works, a little whisper from the past!

Beyond a charming pocket door lies the Dining Room, where whimsical wallpaper sets the scene for unforgettable feasts. Seating up to 14 guests, this is where laughter spills over candlelit dinners and brunches stretch into the afternoon.

The adjacent gourmet kitchen, a chef’s dream, is fully outfitted with top-of-the-line appliances, an original farmhouse sink, and an expansive island for effortless culinary experiences. Need extra space? The butler’s pantry has you covered, with a Sub-Zero freezer, laundry station, and ample storage.

Each bedroom is thoughtfully designed for the modern family. On the main level, the Lounge/Flex Primary Bedroom serves as a cozy sitting area by day and a plush sleeping sanctuary by night. With a plush queen-size Murphy bed, a TV lounge, and an en-suite bathroom, it’s perfect for guests who need everything on one level.

At the top of the stairs, you’ll find a full bathroom and a charming Bunk Room, designed for sleepover magic with four full-size beds (perfect for kids and the young at heart!). Just down the hall, a cozy bay window invites you to curl up in the sunlight.

The Family Suite offers a queen-size sleigh bed, vintage furnishings, and an abundance of natural light. The attached primary bath—featuring a clawfoot soaker tub and a standalone shower—feels like stepping into a spa of a bygone era. And for a delightful surprise, tucked behind this suite are two charming twin bedrooms and a restored historic back “servant” staircase leading to the kitchen.

The screened-in porch is a dream for those who love fresh air without the bugs—sip wine, play games, or just bask in the sounds of nature. Step outside to the backyard patio, where alfresco dining and twinkling lights create the perfect backdrop for magical evenings.

Beyond the farmhouse, standing proudly against the landscape, is our beloved Dutch Barn—a timeless testament to the region’s rich agricultural past. Carefully relocated from the Hudson Valley after the Revolutionary War, this historic structure carries the whispers of early settlers, whose resilience and craftsmanship laid the groundwork for the thriving farming community we celebrate today. Nearby, our vibrant red barn hums with potential.

At Muddy Brook Farm, every path invites discovery. Stroll through our young fruit and nut forest, where the promise of future harvests sways in the breeze. Check out what is growing in our fenced Market Garden and enjoy the seasonal produce that our farm staff will leave for your culinary creation! Find a quiet moment by the fire pit, challenge friends to a lawn game, or stretch out beneath the open sky with a picnic blanket and a good book.

This historic homestead is more than just a place to stay—it’s a place to live, laugh, and create stories of your own. Whether you're gathering with loved ones, hosting an intimate celebration, or simply escaping for a little countryside magic, we can’t wait to welcome you to magic that Muddy Brook Farm has to offer.
