We picked this property because it was on the lake we grew up vacationing at 63 years ago. Surprising little had changed. The cabin was spotless. Well stocked, and Very comfortable. Looking forward to another trip there.
This is probably by far my favorite place we’ve ever rented. It had a wonderful view. We had a nights of stargazing (saw shooting stars). The property is fully equipped with anything you need having the rowboat was perfect for the teenagers and the bunkhouse was also great for them! We will definitely try to rent again!
We loved our week at this sweet cabin. There was plenty of space for our crew and the cabin was incredibly clean and stocked with everything we could possibly need. The teens loved the bunk house, kayaking and fishing while the littles loved the shallow lake by the dock and all the opportunities to see turtles through the clear water. It was quiet, relaxing and exactly what we needed. Thank you!
We had a fantastic experience at this lake house. The setting is gorgeous, the host/owner is helpful and kind, the house is clean, and has all of the amenities one could ask for. This house on turtle lake provides much fun for a family with kids or a group of adults. There is something at the house/lake for everyone, and plenty of other things to do in nearby areas.
We had a wonderful relaxing vacation at this property. We enjoyed the warm and shallow lake where we could comfortably let our kids play. The kayaks were a big hit as well. We were in comfortable driving distance (20-40 minutes) of all the hiking and beaches and dunes of the area.
This was our first time to the area and plans were made on very short notice. The owner John was very helpful with the process. The cottage is nestled in a nice quiet area on a small lake great for kayaking and swimming. Many of the area attractions are easy to drive to and enjoy. Perfect vacation.
My sister and dropped my son at Interlochen camp and headed to this nearby cottage for a sister get-away. It was perfect! Quiet and charming! The host was extremely responsive to questions! The house was super clean!!! We sat by the dock with our feet in the sandy lake. I enjoyed kayaking around and counting turtles!!! We were an easy drive to Lake Michigan beaches, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, and Leeland/Fishtown. We loved it all! Most of all, the peaceful views, clean home, and attentive host made the trip perfect.
We headed to this wonderful area to attend the inaugural Half Ironman in Frankfort from Iowa. A quick drive over to the event, made this an ideal spot to relax and prepare. The cottage was bigger than we expected and super clean! The communication was very timely and kind from John. This was a great spot for us to land, we just didn’t have enough time to enjoy all it had to offer. We brought life jackets to enjoy the kayaks and lake, but ran out of daylight. We did get to enjoy coffee while watching the water, which is a personal favorite. I would definitely recommend a stay here and if we come back to the area, this can be our booking again! Thank you for sharing your home.
We really enjoyed our stay here at turtle lake. The owners provided the perfect set up for a relaxing stay by the lake. Plenty of firewood was provided with nice chairs placed around the fire pit facing the lake. There was 2 sitting areas outside which included a deck and a stone patio. It rained one day and we utilized the enclosed porch. The living room has a large bay window with a lake view. It was quiet even though there is a camp ground across the lake. The house was very clean. Kayaks, canoe and row boat available for use. Paddle to the end to see turtles in the clear water. Conviently located near platte river and short drive to sleeping bear dunes and Traverse City.
The property was exactly as described and we really enjoyed our stay. We woke up and had coffee by the lake while the kids fished or swam. Then made our way to Lake Michigan for the day. We definitely would stay again!
We really had a good time at this property. We could have fit many more people—seriously nine beds in total—but we enjoyed it just the four of us. Be sure to bring lifevests because kayaking and canoeing on Turtle Lake was just the best—we definitely saw lots of turtles and the water was clear enough that we could see them under the water.
Was very surprised that no one had inspected the property after a severe storm prior to us occupying the cottage. We came to find out that a dangerous large limb was hanging over the fire pit and had to notify the manager. For the amount of the contract I would at least expect some one to look things over between occupants. Also if you want to make sure your septic tank is cared for, I would suggest at least providing one roll of toilet paper for new occupants upon their arrival.
Very nicely maintained property and also very clean. We really enjoyed our stay and found that we were easily able to get to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Frankfort, Traverse City. Owner Bill was responsive to questions and very pleasant to work with. Would definitely stay again!
We had a wonderful time, enjoying the views from this perfectly placed cottage. The owners were clear communicators and the check-in and check-out procedures flawless!!!! The cottage had everything we could possibly need.
We will always remember this trip and the beauty of the surrounding woods and lake.
We had a very nice week. The kids enjoyed the lake and having their own area. The cabin was well stocked with dishes and linens. The window AC unit did not keep the cottage cool and very muggy/humid inside. Could use some updated oars/kayaks, however very nice to have access. The only drawback to the location was how far it was to town or anywhere (30 min) and the campers across the lake were a bit rowdy and loud past midnight a few nights. Truly a nice stay if you want to be away from it all!!
John’s property was wonderful. We unfortunately got hit with a rainy week, but there was still plenty to do in the surrounding cities and in the house to occupy our time. The house is on its own lake that is beautiful with little turtles that you can see when you take out the provided kayaks and canoe. John was quick to respond to any messages and questions and was a great host. This house would be perfect for a hot summer stay on the water!
We really enjoyed our stay. The water is a very short distance from the house and the grandkids played in the sand and water. My son and daughter in law went out on the lake in the kayaks that were available for use.The area is nice and quiet. We ate most of our meals outside on the deck. We visited an alpaca farm nearby, visited Traverse City and Sleeping Bear sand dunes. It was a great place to stay.
We had a great time. The kids had fun in the bunk house. Ping pong was a blast. The lake is small but clean and great for kayaks. It was quiet and relaxing. Day trip to Traverse City was perfect and enjoyed biking the Betsey Valley Trail. The owner was great and answered all my messages right away.

Why they chose this property
We love the location, it is right between our favorite areas in Northern Michigan. We enjoy all of the hiking and biking trails, and the nearby beautiful beaches.
What makes this property unique
Our favorite time of day is mid to late afternoon on the dock as there is usually a nice breeze coming off the lake.
