We had such an amazing time at this incredible house! It was super clean, well-stocked and the absolute perfect layout for our extended family vacation. And the hosts were kind and easy to get in touch with. Would stay again in a heartbeat :)
This was our third summer where we spent a week at this house. I guess that is testament to the fact that we love it, as we're repeat guests of this great house. Thank you to our host once more!
Our three generation family now numbers 15. We take regular vacations and have for many years, almost always in a different place. One family was traveling in Europe this summer. The house has a very large capacity to absorb people and provide plenty of privacy. We had a terrific week and the owner was extremely responsive to any of our questions. If you have a large group, this is a great property.
This was our second time we've rented the house for a week, and we enjoyed staying here just as much as the first time. We love the layout, which is great for our extended family, including young children, to all spend time together. The neighborhood is awesome - lots of shade for nice walks, and close to everything. Thanks, Barbara!
Every other summer we try for a whole family vacation which is no small feat, given work schedules, class schedules, other commitments, etc… This house was perfect, though we were missing a few people, there was ample room for family dinners, games, and quiet.
Barbara was great, excellent communication, the rooms were comfortable and well appointed, we got to explore the area and the beach was lovely.
It was a great two weeks!
If you have a big family who wants to hang out together in a gorgeous, spacious, well-appointed home in an exclusive neighborhood with easy access to the beach, shopping and great restaurants, then this is the place for you!! We could not have been more thrilled. Barbara was super nice and their home is magnificent.. plenty of space to sit around and chat, and plenty of beds and closet space. Kitchen is well-stocked with utensils and appliances. The decor is beautiful. All in all we have NOT A SINGLE negative thing to say (which never happens). Price was completely reasonable for the location and the house!
My family of 9 adults and two young grandchildren stayed here for a week in late September. The house was very clean with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and clean bathrooms. We cooked all our meals at the house and had plenty of room for our family to gather or find privacy when the urge was felt. The owner provided a brand new gas grill of high quality that we used most days. We rented bikes and rode to the beach (1/2 mile) and bicycle trails to Lewes or into Rehoboth, all short distances and flat. The house was in a very quiet residential neighborhood that was very safe with friendly walkers and bikers passing by. The owner notified us a few days before our arrival we needed to bring our own sheets and bath towels so recommend that be added to the description of the house during these times of COVID-19. Overall we had a great stay and thoroughly impressed with house and location.
The house was perfect for our family reunion. It was spacious, aesthetic and an abundance in the extras! There were bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, games, etc. Also the location is so close to downtown yet you feel secluded. Lastly, the private beach was amazing! spacious. soft sand and room to spread out. Strongly suggest planning a bonfire on the beach, it was magical. 5 stars all the way around!!
Our stay at this property was absolutely amazing. My family had plenty of room and the house was in a fabulous neighborhood. We had a wonderfully warm and enjoyable stay. The homeowner was very kind, accessible and she left a nice notebook for our review. Outstanding accommodations and location.
The home was perfect for our large group. There was plenty of room for the kids to play and for the adults adults to relax. The private beach was a great bonus and the parking was super easy. Overall we loved it!
The 3 bedrooms upstairs smelled musty and there seems to be a brewing mold problem. I did not feel it was safe for anyone to sleep in those rooms. My husband and I have been renting with VRBO for about 14 years and we have never stayed in a home that didn’t appear professionally and thoroughly cleaned. There was also opened food left in the dirty refrigerator. Not exactly how you want to start a stay during COVID. The last problem was the little bugs that looked like fruit flies (but probably were from the canal close to the house) flying around. We left the next morning and fortunately were able to find another rental house.
The house is beautiful and had plenty of room for our extended family of young adult children, parents and grandparents. The furnishings are tasteful and very comfortable, especially the beds. The bathrooms and kitchen are beautifully designed.
The neighborhood is Lovely, bordered by the beach and a state park. The streets are lined with beautiful trees and wonderful houses , making it the perfect place to walk, run and bike.
One issue we had was that the grill is definitely past it’s useful life. It was filthy, rusted and did not get hotter than 250 degrees. It has not been maintained and needs replacing. We were unable to grill which was unfortunate for a week at the beach and surprising given the high quality and price of the property. Also the bar fridge does not work which was unfortunate as we could have used the space.
When we arrived we had to clean the terrace as it was covered in fallen leaves and branches from what must have been a recent storm.
Overall though this house is a great place for a large family gathering.
It was a lovely property in a lovely neighborhood. Would definitely recommend the place to friends. Very spacious, clean and well laid out. Convenient to the trails and the beach. Really enjoyed out trip. The host was so responsive and helpful.
We were looking for a vacation where our family could have fun and be safe during this time. Barbara was a great host and her home provided the privacy and it was just a short walk/ car ride to a private beach. Barbara was a very helpful host. We would highly recommend.
This house has plenty of room for extended family. Five of my eight grandchildren are teens, and having plenty of bathrooms was a bonus. The kitchen was fully furnished; this was wonderful in the time of COVID-19 as we cooked rather than going to restaurants. The grill worked, but the bottom of it is rusted out. The bikes were not all usable. We loved having use of a private beach; however, I was dismayed to find out there are no lifeguards. Definitely a safety concern.
I've been to Rehoboth many times, but this was my first stay in Henlopen Acres. I'd be delighted to come back to this house for my next trip!
The house: We needed the extra space, and this house really delivered. The fact that there were multiple common areas was a great blessing, as we could have multiple conversations, board games, etc. Many of the large family houses have bunk beds and limited floor / closet space, but not this one; everyone's room had ample space to spread out comfortably, and no climbing over one another!
The location: The cul-de-sac parking worked out very well for our daily trips to the beach (which is less crowded than the Rehoboth area). Even when I stay in Rehoboth, I always enjoy walking and running in the shady area of Henlopen - a great neighborhood.
The extras: and having the extra beach equipment (chairs & umbrellas) was great. Having the bikes in the garage was awesome! I over packed - there were board games already stocked. The kitchen was well stocked for a couple of nights where we prepared large meals, and everyone fit comfortably in the dining room.
