About this property

Clear Springs Log Cabin | Pet-friendly | Historic

The love of history, romance, quiet and adventure is elevated while staying at this cabin. The log room of the cabin was built in 1846, the year the State of Texas issued a title to this ranch's first owner (a copy on display). A sample of the original interior finish (mud and straw) is also displayed. A stone kitchen and bedroom were added at later dates along with the modern bathroom. The log cabin was home to frontiersmen, but for 60 or more years it was used as a barn. Your host and family worked for three years to make this house the special place it is today.

The native stone front rock porch leads into the log cabin. The living room is furnished with an antique couch and chair placed to enjoy TV/DVD. The bedroom is furnished with a king bed. An antique armoire is provided for hanging clothes and stores extra bedding. Adjacent to the bedroom is the bathroom where you can enjoy a luxurious bath in a 7' whirlpool tub.

The kitchen has an antique wood burning stove which has been converted to two burner electric cooktop. A refrigerator, electric oven, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and slow cooker are also provided. Dishes are in the old pie safe. Your hosts cook and deliver a hot breakfast each day.

The second bedroom is found across the dogtrot breezeway, and although rented as part of the cabin it is very private for the second couple in your group. Inside is a queen bed faced to enjoy the flat screen TV over the door. There is a small coffeebar with a coffeemaker and microwave. A table for two is at the foot of the bed to enjoy morning coffee. The bath has a large tiled shower and notice the antique cabinet with the sink sunk into it. There are lots of special touches in this bedroom/bath, but my favorite is all of the Mason jars that have been converted into light fixtures.

Outside is a special treat! Flowers to attract butterflies and hummingbirds are grown as seasons permit. The spacious backyard has a picnic table, grill, glider rocker and a lovely view of ranchland. Deer are often seen. A pond for fish (bass) is nearby. This is a working ranch, but you are welcome to walk trails or jog down the mile long granite gravel road. Hunting season begins the first weekend in November and continues through early January. This is a time to be very careful, so check with your host before hiking during the hunting season.

*The home is pet friendly and will accept up to two dogs. However, there is a pet fee of $32/dog/night. Due to the fact that HomeAway/VRBO does not allow us to charge for more than one dog at the time of booking, please let us know if you will be bringing more than one dog, so that we can make sure that you are charged the correct amount. If you bring more than one dog and do not let us know, you will be charged accordingly. Furthermore, please bring crates for your dogs and crate them in your absence from the house, do not allow the dogs on furniture or beds, and pick up and properly dispose of their waste. If these rules are not followed, there will be an additional $200 charge added to your reservation.*

*If you have food allergies or are on a special diet, please let us know at the time of booking, as your hosts, the Fluitts, would be happy to tailor your breakfast accordingly.*

$32.00*/per pet/night
*plus 13% tax

Please Note: You are renting a cabin in the Hill Country which means you may encounter wildlife (Snakes, Deer, Racoons, ETC). Peaceful + Cozy!

We had a very nice time at the cabin. It was the perfect weekend—peaceful & cozy! We enjoyed having the kitchen and both a nice big tub & a very modern shower with lots of hot water. Our dogs (and us too) loved the yard, we enjoyed sitting outside and just relaxing. Thank you for the wonderful hill country hospitality!

The best place to stay

Clear Springs Log Cabin is the best place to stay for those wanting a quiet and relaxing weekend with a delicious homemade breakfast served hot to your door. You have a beautiful area of their ranch to yourself. The hosts are friendly and were quick to respond to any of our concerns. I highly recommend this place.

Clear Spring Cabin

This property is fantastic and the hosts provide the best breakfasts ! This is our 3rd time at Clear Spring Cabin and as before, the property is maintained beautifully. The option of the additional bedroom allowed us to bring another couple along to enjoy the Fredericksburg area.

Wonderful Cabin

This was our second time to stay in this cabin. The bed was extremely comfortable! The owners brought us a delicious breakfast every morning that would make Emeril Lagasse proud. The only drawback is the big cabin doesn't have a shower, only a large jacuzzi tub, but that's not a deal breaker, we would certainly stay here again!

Charming historic cabin

We enjoyed our stay at Clear Springs Log Cabin. The cabin and surrounding property are rich in history, which was fun to experience and learn about. Our dog quickly made friends with Maria, the very sweet donkey, upon our arrival. A delicious hot breakfast was delivered each morning for us to enjoy before heading off to explore. It's not far from downtown, but far enough that you truly feel in the country. We will be back to enjoy another stay at the cabin.

Enchanted Rock

This cabin was very convenient for our recent trip to Enchanted Rock state park, while being close; it also has an abundant amount of facts and history that you can indulge at your own time. It also shows a different side of life that people from the city that aren’t accustomed to. A great stay, and also a big piece of Texas history.

Clear Springs Log Cabin

This is our second time to stay at the cabin. Hopefully we will have more visits to this beautiful cabin, which is on a ranch with real cows, goats, chickens, a donkey and a cat whose name I don't know. Our hosts were perfect. They did us a great favor by making the cabin available to tourists like us who don't know much about this interesting way of life and it's history.

Great Christmas House!

My husband, son, daughter in law, and three year old grandson spent last weekend in the Clear Springs Cabin. We loved it! The owners had it thoroughly decorated for Christmas, complete with Christmas china and Christmas music playing. We loved our little donkey out back and seeing the beautiful clear skies full of stars at night. It was a great get away from city life.

The most relaxing magical place!

This was our second stay at the cabin and I would say it was even better than the first. It is the most relaxing place with the most unique experience. The host are the best! The breakfast every morning is delicious and so special! We could not have asked for a better place to stay after our engagement and then this year coming back to celebrate our one year anniversary. We cannot wait to continue this tradition!

Quick Getaway

This was a quick getaway. Our first trip after the pandemic. It was lovely to be back in Fredericksburg and to stay in a cabin on a family ranch. Enjoyed watching the deer in the evening and early morning along with all the other wildlife. The breakfast was delicious and was able to speak to one of the owners. We hope to come back to Fredericksburg and stay at the cabin soon.
