About this property

Spacious for 2 only 1 mile from Giant's Causeway-SuperKing Bed-WiFi-Wood Stove

Experience the ultimate stress reliever - a get-away for two at Ruby Stove Cottage! Explore by day, relax by night in a cottage designed for two.

We tried to think of everything that would make your stay enjoyable. I think the favorite is the comfortable super king bed in the spacious bedroom! A close second is the espresso machine! There is a Lavazza pod machine and an old style machine. In the lounge, we've provided wood and firelighters to get you started, so no need to pack wood in the boot! You can buy extra wood locally. And the leather seating reclines so you can put your feet up and enjoy the fire! In the large bathroom there’s a heated towel rack, and there's plenty of room for your toiletries. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washer-dryer for your clothes. Is there a freezer? YES - fridge/freezer.

The cottage gives you easy access to 20 miles of gorgeous, scenic coastline. You can explore the stunning North Antrim coast with its many ports, visit Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Dunluce Castle, the Old Bushmills Distillery.A short drive will take you to the Dark Hedges, or you can travel a little further to the Titanic Museum and the Ulster American Folk Park Museum in Belfast.

If you prefer public transport, there is a bus that passes the cottage every two hours year round, and more frequently in the summer. Check schedules for the 402 to Coleraine and 172 to Ballycastle.

History:
Ruby Stove Cottage has a long history of welcoming visitors to the area, with Sally and Mary Browne (my husband's aunts) offering a cup of tea to many passers-by over the years. They would sit on a bench at the front of the house, and chat with the passing neighbors or the summer visitors to the area. It was easier to walk the roads in those days, as tractors were smaller, and cars were slower and less frequent. There were also no tour buses rushing to the next destination. At that time, the cottage was known as Tonduff, which is the name of the Townland in which it is located.

The cottage has been in the Browne family since the early 1900's. The Brownes raised a family of five children in the original two-room cottage. Everyone worked together on the farm, and the next generations continue the tradition. Two brothers still have farms on the Causeway Road within a stone's throw of the cottage. It was always a hub of farm life.

Enjoy Golf? There are five 18–hole and three 9–hole golf courses within 12 miles of Ruby Stove Cottage. There are many other excellent golf courses within an easy drive.

Bushmills – Bushfoot Golf Club – 3 miles West
9 holes

Portrush – Royal Portrush Golf Club – Home of The Open in 2019 – 9 miles West
2 – 18 hole courses; 1 – 9 hole course

Portstewart – Portstewart Golf Club – 12 miles West

Fantastic stay!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay! House was well equipped and it was so nice to come back to after a long day of exploring. Beautiful parts of the causeway coast are a short drive away and Betsy provided us with a whole list of places to check out. Super easy check in and all the amenities you could need.

Bushmills Causeway Coast stay
Ideal for causeway coast sightseeing. A mile from Giants Causeway, and close to other interesting places to visit. Beautiful scenery & a must to visit white bay & see the cows on the beach & walk along the bay. A car is preferable here to public transport.

Cosy cottage in a great location
We spent a fantastic few days in the area, mostly walking and taking in the amazing coastline, which is only minutes away in the car. The cottage is extremely comfortable and well equipped with real consideration to detail which made us feel very welcome. Dealing with John prior to the trip was pleasure and everything was well organised. We hope to go back some day and would definitely stay here again if we do.

Tranquillity at Ruby Stove
A cosy and comfortable wee house, very spacious for two and very well equipped. Very peaceful (aside from an hour or so each morning when the farm across the road comes to life.) Superbly placed for exploring the local area. We had a great time and would definitely return to Ruby Stove if staying on the Causeway Coast.

Giant's Causeway Dream
Betsy's cottage couldn't have been nicer, and she was very warm and helpful when I had questions. It is a lovely place to stay for seeing the Giant's Causeway and other locations. I loved it, and if Betsy ever wanted to sell it I would be extremely interested in purchasing the cottage myself. Thank you 😊!

FABULOUS to celebrate 20th Anniversary
My husband and I have wanted to explore North Ireland together for years. Ruby Stove Cottage was the most incredible spot to do just that. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and were able to enjoy the luxurious cottage while enjoying the quiet and scenic area. We were also close to so many breathtaking views of the Coast. We talk often of returning to Ruby Stove and pray a blessing over those who visit in the future!

Everything promised and more
I can't say enough good things about this place. Adorable, clean, easy to communicate with owner, etc. We were visiting Ireland for the 2nd time for our 35th anniversary and felt right at home. The home is wonderfully updated while still cozy. Linens and towels were fresh, crisp, and sparkling white. All the amenities available in the clean and modern kitchen were well labeled for use. The drive to the cottage is scenic and just a short drive to the Giants Causeway and lovely Bushmills with friendly pubs and restaurants. We highly recommend the accommodations.

Highlight of our trip
Ruby Stove Cottage exceeded our expectations. The cottage is beautiful and the host (Betsy) is exceptional. The bedroom is huge, comfy bed, full kitchen included with all amenities one would need, tons of extras like blankets, treats, toiletries, and the whole property is just gorgeous. We are from the U.S. and got married at Dunluce Castle during our stay. The cottage is perfectly situated near Giant’s Causeway, the town of Bushmills, Dunseverick Castle, Dunluce Castle , and White rocks beach. The stove was so nice to have fires which we enjoyed every night that we stayed. We can’t wait to return for our 5 year anniversary! We are so grateful we found this amazing cottage and HIGHLY recommend others stay here while enjoying the beautiful landscape of Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland Holiday
We absolutely loved staying here at Ruby Stove Cottage. This was our very first visit to Northern Ireland and we had a fantastic time. The cottage was everything and more we could have expected. It's a beautiful cottage in a lovely setting. It's location is perfect for visiting the coast line. Probably only a mile and a quarter to the Giants Causeway and a couple of miles outside of Bushmills. The whole area of the coast is stunning and well worth a visit. It's made that much better when you have a lovely place to stay and Ruby Stove Cottage certainly fits the bill.
