not worth the expense

We chose this property because of the outdoor play structure. But that was probably a mistake. The house itself was clean, albeit a bit run down. Whatever. It was just a place to rest our heads while we toodled about big bear. This place came with a laundry list of rules. Ok. Fine. But for all those rules, little things began to add up. Don't use the dishes. Get your own toilet paper. Instructions to unlock the door, but we had to figure out how to actually lock it through trial and error. It just seems so stingy for the price we were paying. And the place isn't even that nice. And the heater--which you are admonished to never turn off, DIDNT WORK. That house was downright cold in the morning. Other than a place to rest your head, and a nice TV, there isn't much redeeming about this place. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Rundown and dirty

This home is way over priced. I knew it was an older home but I wasn’t expecting it to be so rundown and dirty. The reviews didn’t give enough detail about the condition of the property. The carpeting is filthy and stained. I wouldn’t recommend walking on it in bare feet. The furniture is old and worn but the sofa was the worst. Torn, stained, dirty. I had to put a blanket over it before we sat on it. As stated the kitchen is bare minimum. You will need to bring everything including a toaster! No dish rack to place your washed dishes in. The kitchen trash can was broken and cracked in several places. A new one would be less than $20, why keep that broken one? We did not have hot water, it was barely lukewarm. The tub hadn’t been cleaned before our arrival. There were several long black hairs left in it. No hand towels in the bathroom, no Kleenex. I didn’t see any pride in ownership of that home and no care about the comfort of their guests. There is a lot this homeowner can do to improve this rental starting with a deep cleaning and getting rid of that sofa. I don’t know how VRBO can endorse a place like this, aren’t there any standard requirements? I will never book this property again and don’t recommend it for anyone else in its current condition.

Weekend with the family

The property was perfect for me and my family. There were 6 adults and a child and we fit comfortably. The yard was the best part of the house! Plenty of space to play in the snow, which is the whole reason we came. The bedrooms are quite tiny, but we spent most of our time around the fireplace or in the snow. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need (expect pans) so I don’t know why the listing said otherwise. There were plenty of dishes to use. Overall, the house could use some upgrades and therefore seemed a little pricey. I do understand it’s winter and the rates go up, but it was still a little pricey. Great weekend with the family and I would stay here again.

Great spot for a quick getaway!

My sister and i came up here for the weekend. Great location away from the hustle and bustle of the village/town, but not too far away. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. The house has a great enclosed front yard if you have a dog. The cabin could use some deep cleaning and upgrades, but overall would recommend. Check in and out was an easy process, Kristina was very responsive to all my questions before arrival.

I feel like I got bamboozled because of covid

The house was not very clean there was a bed above a closet with no way to get up there so someone had to sleep on the floor it said they did not have plates silverware pits pans etc was not allowed to use the stove they gave us a small camping bbq in a strict fire zone really made no sense a bunch of full trash bags on the street that weren't being picked up over all I feel like because of covid they drastically over priced this property we have rented cabins in big bear for years by far the most expensive and worst cabin ever I feel like vrbo should step up and give me a partial refund

First of Many Visits

My family of 6 loved the cabin! Perfectly located for us, away from the main street but just 2 turns onto the main road. Rooms were comfortable, spent most of our time in the living room, outside and in the kitchen for a Thanksgiving feast. House rules were reasonable, neighborhood friendly. Can't wait to go back.

Cute Cabin - Could use some TLC

The property manager was really sweet, easy to work with and very communicative, which is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 3. The cabin is cute and the front yard is huge and well gated! Great for kids or dogs. You're about a 15 minute drive into town. The house itself could be a little better stocked. The kitchen is barren - very few cooking utensils, one pot and pan that were in really bad shape, no spices, not even a knife or pair of scissors. This place isn't set up to be able to cook most meals. We ended up having to order delivery a lot, which is veryyyyy difficult to do in big bear - particularly when it's snowing. You could tell the place was well cleaned before we arrived, but carpets were very worn - big holes under the couches, permanent stains. Beds aren't overly comfy and are a little small. Pictures were a little deceiving. All in all, we had a great time. The heat works well, which was great because it was snowing. And the place is comfy - just used to a little more with vrbo. So be sure to bring everything you might need with you!

Great Experience

This is a good place to stay if you have more than 2 guests , so much space in the front and backyard for both children and pets. The area around the house was calm not disturbing, this household is excellent I recommend it to most people. We will definitely come back.

Great Family cabin!!

We had a great time here. We traveled with 4 kids and the back yard playground was a big hit. It let the adults come back to the cabin and relax without hearing the kids complain they were bored! The house was clean. And everything was a good size. I had no complaints. Would definitely recommend.
