We have stayed at Bruce’s Bend twice for an annual cabin trip and it is wonderful! The house is lovely with all amenities needed! The outdoor living space is fantastic with a fire pit overlooking the water and plenty of games and activities available. Then there is the creek. It is AWESOME! The creek bends right in front of you turning into gentle rapids followed by another bend of emerald clear water with cliffs on the opposite bank and an old railroad bridge in view to the left. Perfect for creek walking and fishing!
All i can say is WOW! What a beautiful home and location. The house is exceptional well equipped with everything you need. The setting right on craigs creek is amazing and peaceful. What a great get-away with family and friends. Highly recommend this venue and our host was most accommodating and communications were quick and helpful. Love, love, loved it !!
We had a perfect memory making long weekend! Canoe rides, fishing, campfires with s’mores, nature walks, craft making and games on huge kitchen table, and every pot, pan, and utensil we needed to make our meals. Bruce’s Bend was absolutely perfect! Grandma, granddaughter and great granddaughter-we all will remember our special Veterans Day weekend!! Thank you again!!
My husband and I were looking for a quiet getaway, and Bruce’s Bend hit all the right notes: beautiful views, very secluded and relaxing, plus pet friendly. Lots of beautiful trails all around. The owners had prepared a very helpful binder of information about the surrounding area, too. We fully recharged!
Property was beautiful! Pics online don’t do it justice! Setting was ideal and location is great: feels like you’re away from the world but close enough to run to town to get dinner or groceries. We even floated down the creek in mid October. Plenty of amenities and the kitchen has everything you would need. We were so relaxed we didn’t want to leave and stayed two extra days! Would definitely go back!
We chose this cabin as it easily accomodates our group with plenty of essentials to make the stay pleasant. The options for outdoor activities are numerous and just what our group likes.
Overall we had a nice stay. It had nice views and good fishing spots. I do however feel the comfort of furniture (sofas and chairs) and beds could have been better for the price we paid. The house was very clean and the owner had good communication.
The property is amazing! It's located right on Craig's Creek and has a fire pit and playset! The house is beautiful and has everything our family needed. We will definitely go back next year!
We booked this property to got to the west virginia state fair, and absolutely love the house! My son and I had a great time in the creek, and the Roaring Run loop/watering hole was amazing
Cant wait to return!
The property is very nice, & the location is great. Zero neighbors! The owners left us stuff to make s’mores, & the kitchen was well stocked. The screened in porch was used a lot. Plenty of room for dogs, & kids to play. The creek was perfect. Deep enough for the kids to play, but not to deep they couldn’t touch. The only thing I could ask for is tv’s in all the bedrooms. We will definitely be back!!!
Loved it. Each one of us from age 78 to 2. The house is inviting, has everything needed, like a private treehouse on a gorgeous stream. Hummingbirds galore. Lots of other birds. Small well-kept playground. Canoe, kayaks and tubes available. We enjoyed a campfire every night, even in the heat, really refreshing breezes. Want to come back!
The house and grounds were amazing. We had two small children with us and they were enchanted. The creek flowed clear and cold, we canoed, swam and fished in it. The children played on their playground equipment, chased fire flies and roasted marshmallows. A day hike and a trip to the falls rounded out the trip. We look forward to returning.
Thank you for a wonderful relaxing time! The cabin was so clean and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend here! Our favorite spot was the screened in porch listening to the creek and watching the birds. We loved how the owners had bird feeders set up and we saw so many birds, including humming birds...our daughter was in heaven watching them! We used the boats to explore the creek, the kids loved the playset, played cornhole and enjoyed evening fires. We did the Roaring Run hike which was about 2 miles away, it was gorgeous and perfect w/ younger kids. The check out procedures were super easy, which we really do appreciate. Beautiful clean cabin, relaxing property, and lovely owners who take pride in their place. We will definitely be back!
What a fantastic property! My family owns the 800 acres across the creek and road of this property so it was perfect proximity to explore it all! We fished and used the kayaks. Be mindful of the poison ivy around the property and creek bank. The home is super roomy and just perfect for a getaway. We will def be back! I fell in love with the screened in porch and listening to the creek.
I recently stayed at Bruce's Bend on Craig Creek, and it was a fantastic experience. The cozy cabin was perfect for a quiet retreat, and the view from the deck was breathtaking. We loved having direct access to the creek for kayaking and fishing. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the surrounding hiking trails provided great outdoor adventures. It was a perfect blend of comfort and nature, making our stay truly memorable.
Our sincere thanks. The property exceeded all expectations and is truly an incredible place to stay. All communication with the owners was helpful and informative, with great response time and detail. We are grateful!
Second time staying at this beautiful house. Enjoyed a peaceful Easter weekend with each other and our 2 small dogs. Played board games, enjoyed the fire pit and did a nearby hike. Looking forward to staying again next year.
Property is perfectly located on the creek, and exceptionally well stocked + maintained. Our family of 4 (kids 5 and 7) had an amazing time, and particularly enjoyed the fire pit, playground, and proximity to Roaring Run.

About the host
Hosted by David and Kimberly Bruce
We are the Bruce Family. David and Kimberly Bruce-the owners of Bruce's Bend. We have 3 children. David was raised just one mile from the property and is very familiar with and loves the area. I was born and raised in New jersey till 1999 when I moved to Virginia. We both love to hike and be outdoors. Our children also love to hike and do all the outdoor activities that we hope you get to enjoy when you visit. We look forward to meeting new people who share the same love of the area.
Why they chose this property
David grew up just a mile down the road from the property. He had visited this house and knew the prior owners and told them that if they ever wanted to sell to let him know. Fortunately for us, they decided to sell and contacted David about purchasing the house. We love the house and plan on retiring here. We have had to move for a job change at this point and thought why not let others enjoy our home while we cannot.
What makes this property unique
David was in love with the house from the first visit. The view from the couch gave the appearance that the creek flowed directly under the house. We absolutely love the screened in porch. We love sitting on the couch in the screened in porch and have our morning coffee. The house has many great points--firepit, creek view, big side yard, patio area, deck overlooking creek and much more. The screened in structure out front is the origional camp that still remains. It has a fireplace which is a good place to sit back and relax or hangout on a rainy day or evening.
