Beautiful and private

Fun place to stay. Lush plants surround the property. So nice to sit on the deck in the evening listening to the birds and frogs. Feels very private.

Excellent unique hideaway

This was just the right amount of funky in this spot. It's a very unusual house in a quiet (except for the local wildlife) area. Layout is weird but workable. The kitchen had all the basics for cooking, tons of linens in the bath, "smart" TV (bring your logins). It's 2 miles from the main road, so stop by the grocery store first. And bonus friendly kitty from next door!

Tropical getaway

Mapquest got us to the house easily. The hosts helped us with everything we needed. We chose the house for the hot tub because my husband has chronic back pain and hot tub jets help him relax. The hot tub did not have jets that massaged. They just moved the water slightly and only lasted for 5 minutes. That made our stay very difficult for my husband. Also the layout of bathrooms to bedrooms was unusual. All in all we had a good time but not as great as we’d hoped for.

Gecko poop

Charming house, but we weren’t able to use the beautiful upstairs bedroom because there were multiple geckos hanging out in there and there was feces on the bed and floor. The owner said we could change the bedspread but I was afraid they would use the bathroom on me while I was sleeping. Also there were a lot of bugs. You would always expect to see a few on most Hawaii properties, but there were obvious gaps in doors and walls where they could easily get in.Also, the ceiling fans were filthy and we couldn’t use them. The owner did offer to come and clean them, but I just didn’t feel like dealing with it so we used a floor fan. We found ONE that was clean enough to use. The rest of the house was mostly clean. Although there was also feces on the kitchen floor. The adorable geckos do poop a lot.

Unique experience in paradise

Very accommodating host, kids enjoyed hammock, hot tub. Great location feels rural yet near everything. We learned so much about wildlife and visited volcano national park while staying at this property.

Fun and funky retreat

We really enjoyed the funky fun location and architecture. There was everything we needed in terms of kitchen supplies and linens. We were there in late August and there is no AC but lots of fans so It was pretty hot and humid. Just be prepared. We slept better when we threw the sheets in the dryer for a few minutes just before going to bed. The hot tub on the lanai is lovely! And the private jungle location is lots of fun!

Totally awesome!

Such a funky and gorgeous place in an old water tank. Comfortable and well stocked, great hot tub. Love the AC. If you can figure out what light switch belongs to which light on your first night, you get a prize!

A little paradise..

We had an amazing stay. The property is beautiful, the house was perfect for us.. we woke up to the sounds of birds and rain.. the sun peeking in through the 360 windows on the top floor, went to sleep to the sounds of nature.. Thom was amazing, had great insight on the island and it’s happenings. Super friendly and answered all our questions. A+++ We will be back for sure!

Love, love, love this place! Upon entry, the place was even more whimsical than the listing leads one. There were producing fruit trees in the yard and the garden was so pleasurable to walk through. The king-sized beds were very comfortable and the breeze throughout the house left no need for A/C. The property manager was quick to answer any questions we had and was very attentive and nice. Even though the property seems remote there were stores within a 10-minute drive for last-minute dinner needs. We were graciously granted early check-in and late check-out. We stayed 5 days and it was not enough!! Can't wait to return and stay again. Mahalo nui to our hosts!!!

Oasis treehouse

My family of 4 had a lovely experience staying at the Hawaiian Paradise Park. The moment you drive up you are transported into a lush paradise. The property is surrounded with thick tropical vegetation(including fruit trees) and great for your littles to run around. The manager, Thom, is easy to communicate with and offers great local suggestions during your stay. It's like having your very own concierge. If you are looking for a tropical paradise, away from the condos and close to Vocanoes NP and all the fun things in Hilo this place is great.

Peaceful

Such a peaceful stay...it rained everyday and the birds drove me crazy but that was what made it charming...had trouble finding it but thom came to find us and saved the day...everything u needed was here..it was not overall clean however the bedding was neat..plz clean under the mat in the bathtub..and pillows in the living room made it kinda funky smelling..the hottub was not able to be used we bought a test kit but didn't want to mess with it..overall we would come back..

Amazing

This property is truly an oasis- if you are looking for an extremely quiet tranquil location to relax and use as a home base to explore the east side of the big island this is a great option. Thom the property manager is terrific and local and very knowledgeable about the area and had a lot of great suggestions! This place also had A/C which was great for cooling off after a hot day of hiking and exploring. The kitchen was well appointed with all you need to make your own meals which I will say is how we roll and there is no delivery in the area and most restaurants are in the towns about 10-15 minutes away. There is a beach about 5 minute drive away that’s very private- not a huge white sand but small black sand beach- also a very cool area to explore at end of street where the lava flow took over the landscape. We had a great stay for 5 days here and would definitely suggest it to anyone looking to get away!

Fun House, Perfect Location

This was such a fun place to stay! The location was perfect to access any of the Hilo side attractions with fairly short drives to any of them. I felt like I was staying in the middle of the rain forest. Yes, the frogs, birds, and rain on the roof were noticeable at night, but I loved listening to them and just threw my ear plugs in when I was ready to sleep. The house was stocked with anything you may forget (toiletries, shower stuff, kitchen essentials, beach gear) and there were plenty of towels and bedding for everyone. We picked oranges, mandarins, and lemons off the trees and they were better than anything you'd get at the grocery store! This property was build in the early '80's so don't expect everything to be perfect. It was clean and cute and the perfect place to relax after a long day of sight seeing. Thom, the property manager, was in touch with me the day before we arrived and gave wonderful recommendations for things to do and was always quick to respond if I had any questions.

Tried, but couldn't stay there

We were willing to overlook the lack of cleanliness of this site, given it's cute funky details. It was quite romantic! We overlooked that we couldn't get any TV (mostly for news/weather purposes, and the manager recommended WE resolve it with the cable company!). But we couldn't overlook the "DRIP, DRIP, DRIP" of the lack of drainage system on the home from the rain. The rain itself was lovely and soothing, but the drip all night made it unteneble. We left halfway through our pre-paid stay. We have asked for a refund, and have not had any response. Everywhere else we stayed on the island was great.

Hawaii vacation

The house and surrounding grounds were very nice. The hot tub wasn’t working upon our arrival.The hot tub was a great amenity and the primary reason why we chose this rental home for our vacation stay.So it was disappointing to find out that the hot tub was not working upon our arrival. I called the guest contact person Melissa but she didn’t call me back so I called the back up guest contact person Joe. I sent both guest contact people pictures of the controls on the hot tub. After Joe tried to walk us through turning on the hot tub jets over the phone but his attempt was unsuccessful. So Joe came over to the house and tried to get the hot tub to work. However he reset the jets, looked up how to turn the jets via YouTube and then he pushed all the buttons on the hot tub but he was unable to get the jets to turn on. Melissa returned my call about 9:30 PM and I tried to explain to her that the hot tub jets were not working. Melissa kept saying just reset the jets and the jets will come on. I kept trying to tell Melissa that Joe came over and he already tried to reset the jets and it didn’t work. So Melissa said she didn’t want to discuss it anymore because I kept asking her to call Joe and telling her that resetting the hot tub button didn’t work. Melissa also said that they ordered parts for the hot tub but it’s Hawaii so it takes a while to receive parts. I replied oh so you knew the hot tub is not working. And she said no and I said then why did you order parts. And Melissa hung up the phone. Which was very unprofessional, rude and unnecessary. I didn’t do anything to deserve Melissa hanging up on me.I’ve been a Airbnb Super Host for over a year. I definitely didn’t get my Super Host status by being rude, unprofessional and disrespectful to my guests. The back up guest Joe was very kind, professional and he went out of his way to try to help us. I showed my sister pictures of the house and she loved the house and its amenities just like I did. My sister was going to rent this house during the end of July for her birthday vacation. She decided to find another home to rent after I told her about my unpleasant experience with Melissa. Which was on the first day of our stay at the house. So Melissa caused the property owner to lose a rental customer. And she is the cause of the property owner getting a bad review from me. I’d never do anything to lose a customer, customer referrals or get bad reviews on my home unlike Melissa.

This property suited our needs completely--close to family, room for everyone, a place to cook meals, comfortable sleeping and relaxing areas, laundry facilities and just a cool house. The house embodies the "aloha" spirit. Mahalos!

An interesting and enticing experience

The house was quite interesting and the build was quite amazing. We were surrounded by lots of nature and found the frogs croaking to be an interesting touch. We were also surprised and thrilled that there weren’t any bugs in the house. Thom, the owner of the house gave us some local information and replied very quickly.
