About this property

Wine Cup Cabin | Romantic Hill Country Getaway

When visiting Fredericksburg our hope is that you come to relax and enjoy your quiet time here! If that is your goal as well, we have the perfect place for you- Wine Cup Cabin found just a few miles south of Fredericksburg.

The logs found throughout this wonderful cabin are from Mayfield, Kentucky and date back to the late 1800s. Your hosts are sixth generation Texans with rich and local history. They enjoy sharing their beautiful hill country views and wildlife with their guests. Inside this cozy cabin, more history awaits. The tin and barn wood your hosts bought from Art, Texas just outside of Mason is over 100 years old. When they bought the little kitchen cabinet, they were told that it once belonged to Jim Hogg and the pie safe is an old Texas piece bought in Fredericksburg. Notice the loft-the chickens are very happily sitting on antique chicken cages. Every time you enter you will discover another new and interesting piece of history.

The living room has a very comfy leather sofa placed to enjoy the wood fireplace, smart television, and DVD. There is a coffeebar plus a small refrigerator and microwave. In the bedroom, find a king bed topped with a country quilt and pillows. There is a large corner whirlpool tub in the bedroom. The old dresser is where you will find the bathroom sink.

Enjoying the front porch will be a special treat with its comfy chairs and beautiful plants—and then there is the awesome countryside to enjoy with deer, ducks and birds plus anything else that might wander by. There is even a pair of binoculars on the porch for you to get that close up look.

The home is dog-friendly and will accept up to two dogs. However, there is a pet fee of $27/dog/night. Due to the fact that HomeAway/VRBO does not allow us to charge for more than one dog at the time of booking, please let us know if you will be bringing more than one dog, so that we can make sure that you are charged the correct amount. If you bring more than one dog and do not let us know, you will be charged accordingly. Furthermore, please bring crates for your dogs and crate them in your absence from the house, do not allow the dogs on furniture or beds, and pick up and properly dispose of their waste. If these rules are not followed, there will be an additional $200 charge added to your reservation.

Things to be aware of:
*The bathroom has an accordion style door.

Please Note: You are renting a cabin in the Hill Country which means you may encounter wildlife (Snakes, Deer, Racoons, ETC). Please be aware of your surroundings, and take caution while driving at night. You may also encounter the various bugs, spiders, scorpions and mice that live in the country AND sometimes do make their way inside. All properties do utilize pest control services on a regular basis BUT this does not guarantee no pests or bugs will be visible.

Adorable cozy little cabin

We had a wonderful stay. It's the cutest and coziest little cabin in a country setting, but not far from town. We enjoyed sipping coffee on the porch while watching the wildlife and appreciating the serenity. The only things we felt were missing were wine glasses and a wine opener, but that didn't take away from our stay. We hope to be back!

Cute cabin and great location

The cabin was adorable and had a great location. We really enjoyed sitting outside on the porch and enjoying the seclusion and nature. However, there is no kitchen like advertised, and we had hoped to cook a few meals. There was just a microwave and refrigerator. We opened the microwave to find a very old loaf of banana bread shoved inside!! Gross! Also the bathroom is not quite a bathroom. There is a toilet in a closet with a door that wont close if you are in there. It was functional and the cabin is still worth all these nuances. But this all should be noted. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would do it again.

So peaceful

Gästehaus is an incredible host. Always quick to reply and answer any questions. Great customer service ! This was our 2nd trip to Wine Cup Cabin. We really love how remote it feels and how quiet the surroundings are. We didn't see as many deer this time but there was a lot of ducks on the pond and a few armadillos wandering around. We also greatly appreciate being able to bring our Golden retriever with us. Not all places accept big dogs and he is such a good boy. The cabin is comfortable. The shower pressure is great! We enjoyed a bonfire one night in the fire pit. Not having a stove isn't a big deal if you plan ahead and of course there is so much food good in Fredericksburg anyway. Mostly we just relaxed. Thank you. We will be back! :-)

Perfect private Cabin minutes from Fredericksburg

Historic structure with modern accent additions on a gorgeous plot of land. Dark skies perfect for stargazing and an East facing traditional settlers porch for sunrises. Easy access on a private property road with ideal privacy. A hill country gem!

The stay could not have been any better. A romantic little cabin that was secluded but convenient to downtown Fredericksburg.

We loved staying at the Wine Cup Cabin! It was not too far from town, and it was well worth the drive to get the spacious property, beautiful view (including deer), and privacy. The only disappointment was the non-working coffee machine. We had to drink hot tea the first morning and buy our own coffee in town the next. The glasses were not washed and there was no dishwashing soap available. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend this cabin to friends.

Dissatisfaction with Wine Cup Cabin

The appearance of the cabin outside was horrible, and some areas of the inside were not so great as well. I'd be happy to share photos of the issues we experienced. July 3rd we stopped by the office to voice our concerns and a lady took a report but didn't seem overly concerned. This is our second time to rent and both times we've had issues. I'd like to continue the relationship if I could share my concerns with someone.

Cabin Get-away

This cabin exceeded my expectation. It's was just the right distance from Fredericksburg and offered peace and quiet with easy access to town. The size of the cabin, furnishings, and cleanliness were perfect.

The wine cup cabin was very cute and charming with flowers on the porch. The bathroom setup was a bit uncomfortable as the toilet was in a very tiny closet right in the bedroom. Very hard to maneuver. The sink in the bathroom side of the room didn't work so we had to brush our teeth in the little kitchen sick that was under a shelf. The shower was pretty high up off the ground making it hard to get in and out of. It could be a fall hazard. There was no door or shower curtain over the shower making it uncomfortable. The bed was comfortable and the charm of the cabin was nice. The owners left sweet rolls that were delicious along with other breakfast items. It's a very cute place and we did enjoy staying there.

My wife and I really liked the location but the cabin and service needs a little attention. First, the print out we received for our reservations said there is a breakfast with muffins and fruit, there was none. There were roaches running around the kitchen area and the floor was pretty dirty. There was only one roll of toilet paper in the cabin and no facial tissue. We ran out of toilet paper because we were using it to blow our noses as well. There should be at least one refill of toilet paper and some facial tissue as well, this is pretty common in all hotels and places to stay overnight. The binoculars on the deck are filled with water and are not usable. They should be replaced or take them out of the description for the cabin. The power was out for a few hours on our last morning.

The service from Gastehaus Schmidt was fine but the cabin itself is rough. I would say it needs better upkeep, clean linens to start! I would not stay here again and would not recommend this to my family or friends.

Relaxing Stay

We enjoyed our night at Wine Cup Cabin with the jacuzzi tub, fireplace, and comfortable bed. The stars shone so brightly at night and we enjoyed seeing a few deer from the front porch in the morning. We always enjoy being out in the country where it is so peaceful.

Wine Cup Cabin

Cabin was excellent and loved the deer in the front yard. Thank you so much for a wonderful and peaceful experience. Do not like having to go into town for the key. Wall to wall people, many without masks; no wonder the hospitals are full. Should be able to get the key at the cabin.

Rustic Escape

Relaxing escape in the country. Enjoyed sitting out under the tree watching the deer and moonrise over the hills and the quiet time, plus hanging out with a fire in the fireplace. Loved the log cabin feel and all the antiques send you back in time.
