The cabin was clean spacious and well supplied. We had our whole family (17) there to stay for 5 days between Christmas and New Year's. It is a beautiful property in a picturesque setting. We were hoping for a little more snow to make the snowmobiling a little funner, but it still worked out.
Great central location for all that we did in the area. Internet was slow and the washers and dryers took forever when we washed the towels, but the rest of the place is fantastic.
We had a group of 14 adults and 8 children ranging in age from 2-17. The house set up worked perfect for us as each couple had a bedroom and those with children had the right number of beds in their room, it could not have been more perfect. Also plenty of bathrooms and having a washer/dryer was a nice bonus. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pans, silverware, crockpot etc. We could have used more dish towels and a pot holder or two. All the bathrooms had plenty of towels etc. Having two living areas was helpful so we could spread out a bit depending on what we were doing. The large island in the kitchen with lots of stools was great for meals with that many people. I recommend this house for a large group. We also were lucky to have a white Christmas! Beautiful area. The host was very helpful and responsive to my questions prior to our arrival and also communicated with us that a plow would arrive to clean up the driveway. We had an absolutely wonderful time. We did not go out exploring the area as we were there at Christmas and wanted family time.
Lovely stay. Lots to do in the area. Abundant wildlife.
Great hiking.
Only disappointment was that none of the upstairs bedroom windows had blinds.
Sun beat in early in the morning.
We had a great time here! Our party of 24 was comfortably housed, with lots of room for conversations, cousin time, and even a talent show on the spacious deck. My only concern was that there was furniture close enough to the upstairs balcony rail that our toddlers who don’t know better could easily climb up and fall over the rail. We alleviated our fears by simply keeping the tiny tots downstairs during playtime, and by pulling the bed and table away from the rail (just in case…). Outland Meadows Lodge was a win for our large family group!
The kids found items under the beds from the previous tenets (underwear). The description says high speed internet but it was really slow, especially at night. We had one person who needed to study for school so slow internet made it very difficult. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and had plenty of room for all of us.
Loved the cabin. We stayed here for an large family vacation. There were about 20 of us. Anytime I had a question for the host (Sheryl) responded promptly. It is a little off the beaten path but still beautiful. There is a large horse ranch close by that offers horseback riding. We all did it and it was fun. We spent a day in yellowstone which is about 50 minutes away. If you want to go tubing/rafting Macs inn is about 15 mins away. There are also plenty of hiking trails around.
There was a Moose and her calf that would hang out close to the cabin. We saw her about 4-5 different times. (usually in the morning or evening)
No complaints here. It was fun!
Excellent visit, especially during Yellowstone flood
Since we were there during the flood disaster we can say how well the property handled our group of 18. We were there for 3 days of rain and snow. We then ventured out to Yellowstone Park. The Park Rangers were so great at stopping visitors from coming in. Their quick actions helped save people. So we ventured out to Mesa Falls, ID and then the next day to Grand Tetons and Jackson Hole. Then we went to Big Sky MT. There was a lot to do, camping overnight at Grand Tetons, with reservations.
There was one area to our cabin that flooded but the crews were there to fix the pipe line that was handling the water run off. They detoured us to our road and all was well.. No other flooding problems to our cabin. We had lots of groceries. No problems with shortages of any kind We didn't even get in each others way. The house handled us well. Laundry and cooking was smooth. I really believe the house was setup for our group Thank you for our pleasant stay.

Almost brand new log cabin, comfortable for a big group of 25, responsive host!
Our group of 8 families (16 adults, 10 children) stayed for 7 nights to visit Yellowstone. From the cabin to West Entrance is 45 min driving, another 15 min to Madison Junction. So It will cost 2 hours of your day but in our opinion, we made an excellent choice to stay in the log cabin. Toiletries were adequate. Kitchen utensils were OK but more pots/pan with lids would be appreciated. All appliances worked. The log is in a remote place and we enjoyed that. It will take some driving to West Yellowstone town for groceries and supplies (45 min) but it you are heading there any day, this is convenient. The front balcony is to die for as you see in the picture, we hanged out there a lot. Please plan your BBQ because the gas grill outside is ready to go. Originally we wanted to do charcoal BBQ but we always came home late from Yellowstone, so charcoal did not work for us. For a big group, we would prefer to have another fridge for more storage but it is OK if you plan your meal accordingly. The host, Sheryl, was very quick in responding to our questions and we appreciated her. We tried to leave the log cabin in a good shape, just like when we walked in the first day. Overall, our group had a great time at the log cabin and if you want to visit Yellowstone, put this cabin on your list.
Family was there to celebrate wife, mom and grandma.
Things went well until I tried to pay second half and the only time that someone could help was after midnight the night before it was due. I lost that contact but the next day info showed up in my email box which allowed me to complete the process. The contact/property manager was excellent to work with and very helpful. Great cabin, awesome stay which made memories for a lifetime.
Sheryl is a fantastic host! She was wonderful at communicating from the very beginning when we first booked it. We booked this cabin for a family reunion. We were also able to book the private two bedroom cabin right next to it for the grandparents to stay in. That was a very nice arrangement! Sheryl looked into every question I asked, including if she knew where any good day-use spots would be where we could play in the water. Although she didn't know off-hand she looked into it and got back to me in a matter of days. I am impressed with how she took care to look into the details to ensure we had a great stay.
As a side note, the place she recommended and that we ultimately went to was: Lakeside Lodge Resort. Our group loved playing on their shore with their day use pass, which included access to their bounce houses, play set and water trampolines. The kids loved it! It was a great lake day!
Unfortunately, this area is experiencing a large volume of what the Yellowstone Rangers called, "Buffalo Gnats". In Yellowstone they informed us that there was an inordinate amount of them, and that the female gnats would bite at the hairline. So due to things outside of the hosts control, this cabin unfortunately has them and has them bad. From what we could tell, they were in the drains. More and more would come out of the drains as the day progressed. We talked with a few people in the area and multiple cabins are experiencing this problem.
We messaged Sheryl about them and she came after the first night with bleach and bleached the drains. By the second night, our kids were getting bit and she came the next day and cleaned out every drain, in an effort to address the gnats. Unfortunately, it will probably need much more attention to fully eradicate this gnat infestation. Sheryl left the second day and gave us instructions to contact her if the gnats persisted, and while they did, the adults also came down with a 24 stomach flu... and we kind of just dealt with the gnats.
Without the gnats, this cabin/lodge is amazing! It totally fits all of our needs and can host a large family gathering. With the gnats, it made coming home to relax difficult. We would constantly have gnats in our faces in the evenings. Ultimately, from what I've been told, there is an unusual amount this year, but if bugs are an issue for you (as they were for some people in our party) there are a lot and you might consider a tent as there are no drains for the gnats to live in.
We stayed the 1st week of July. Everything was great for an epic vacation. We wish we could have stayed longer. The Lodge was clean and comfortable and had lots of amenities. There are deer and moose in the area. The host was responsive and polite to our questions/concerns. I would highly recommend this property.
Enjoyed the cabin except for the major nat problem. Need pest strips to mitigate some of it. It would be nice to have blinds on all the bedroom windows and screens replaced that weren’t there for needed airflow for the warm days. Larger or another full refrigerator would be really helpful for a cabin that sleeps 25. Some of the mattresses need to be replaced. Overall having so many bathrooms and then sinks in the bedrooms was great. The layout was wonderful and the property was beautiful and well kept. Loved the extensive decking and all the rockers.
We had a big group of family - children and grandchildren. The house was wonderful - large open kitchen/ family area. Game and kid area downstairs. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The area was beautiful - great for riding snowmachines. We had a wonderful weekend and we would definitely go again!!
Enjoyed our stay! The deck and the large windows provide a beautiful place to view the scenery! We had 23 people in our group so every bed was used and every inch of the cabin was used! A great family get a way!

About the host

Making the drive frequently through Island Park to Bozeman MT to see our kids, we became enchanted with the mixture of tall pines and beautiful meadows. We bought this place to give us a chance to spend time with our kids and be close to the things we love to do.
Why they chose this property
This property is quiet and a little ways off of the busy main road. It is secluded with elk, deer and moose wandering through. Wooded but with beautiful wildflower meadows that show off in the spring and summer. Stunning view of the Centennial Mts. Also Yellowstone Park is just a 45 minute drive!!
What makes this property unique
ATV / Snowmobile trails surround the area. Yellowstone is 45 minutes drive.. World class fly fishing at Henry's Fork nearby and Horseback riding just down the road. And skiing at Big Sky or Grand Targhee are only 90 minute drives
