Beautiful view, great getaway, will definitely be back

This is such a charming little property. From the dogs running around to the hot tub overlooking the mountain. Robert was a great host and was SO helpful getting up and down the mountain/recommending some good places to eat! Perfect location, about 15-20 mins from downtown Asheville. We will absolutely be visiting again. It was perfect for a romantic getaway with my girlfriend!

Not so private getaway

My husband and I booked a long weekend for our honeymoon. Granted we did not read all the reviews before booking, but when we saw 5 stars it was a quick decision after seeing the pictures as well! The views are beautiful and being on top of a mountain was pretty cool. 4 wheel drive is a must as some of the road is on a very steep incline! The location in proximity to Asheville and the Biltmore were also very convenient. The only things we were not pleased with is that there are people who live here that have 3 dogs that are left out to roam. Our dogs aren’t necessarily unfriendly but I didn’t feel comfortable letting them off the leash. While the location is secluded you really don’t have the place entirely to yourself. The kitchen is small and workable but not fully equipped. Overall we had a good time but it wasn’t exactly what we had imagined the place to be.

Quiet, but a little different

I thoroughly enjoyed staying with Bob and Melissa. They are both wonderful hosts and make sure the guest have what they need and also are available for any issues during the stay which was great also. I arrive down there by myself, so it worked out great to not be completely alone until my boyfriend came up in a few days. I enjoyed talking with Bob and Melissa and they told me some great spots to trail walk and eat in Weaversville. The hot tub is actually on the other side and more remote; that table on the front is top there currently. We stayed on the top floor which was great for what we needed. The view was amazing; a nice size room with a king bed and a gas fireplace heater. Then there is a quaint little kitchen with a open space to a couch and a table. The couches were so comfy that on rainy days I would open up the blinds and view the mountains and either watch a movie or read my book. The hammock needs work in the front, but I brought a blanket and read my book on a lovely hill next to the cabin. I very much did enjoy my time there and my dogs were happy to explore around the mountains. Yes you can bring dogs! The other thing is there are other dogs on the property, but they are all very friendly. Enjoy your stay!

Beautiful views and a lovely place to stay

My husband and I spent this weekend here and had a lovely time. This one bedroom had everything we needed plus a hot tub with a view that is amazing. I would highly recommend this rental. Please, though, pay attention to the requirement for a 4wd vehicle....the road up the mountain is a private road that winds and turns and is very steep...Rob and Melissa are great hosts and lovely people!

Peaceful paradise!

My daughter and I spent a wonderful extended weekend up in the beautiful and peaceful island in the sky! The view was gorgeous and the temperature was cooler at that altitude so we did not need air conditioning. The hot tub was relaxing! We do not have a 4 wheel drive but our hosts were always available when we needed a ride up or down. Very conveniently located a short distance from Asheville!

Amazing views. Great hospitality. Can't beat it.

My girlfriend and I have visited Bob and Melissa's place three times now. We come every year toward the end of April/beginning of May and plan to continue that tradition. Bob, Melissa, and Bob's daughter Kristen are all amazing hosts. The views are second to none, as the two cabins look directly toward the Smokies. The top of the mountain is so peaceful and secluded. We honestly enjoy it more every time we come. You're within 15 minutes of downtown Asheville, the Parkway, and the Tennessee border. The location, the cabins themselves, and the mountain are all great.

The property was beautiful! The views were breathtaking!

My husband and I recently went for a weekend getaway and it was very peaceful! The cabin was in great shape and the property was easy to navigate. I was under the impression it was a cabin all by itself. When we arrived I noticed a cabin underneath ours and another one next door. All cabins were booked for the weekend. The other attendees were nice but I would've liked something a little more private. All in all the town wasn't too far and our dog had plenty of space to run and play. It was enjoyable but not as private as what we anticipated. Defiantly need a four wheel drive car to get up the mountain. And make sure you have ALL of your groceries so you are not up and down the mountain your entire trip.

Great hospitality and amazing view

It was the perfect distance outside of the city and for being in mountains. The views were breathtaking! The 4 wheel drive is no joke. Make sure you take one with you or get a rental! We would definitely do this again!

Amazing view, close proximity to downtown Asheville

We stayed here for 4 nights, and lucked out with some unusually warm weather for early November. Everyone is right about needing a 4x4 vehicle to get up and down that mountain. That was one heck of a climb to get to the top. I do think they could do some grating to make the trek a little smoother. The sunrises and sunsets are incredible. The house was a little smaller/older (furniture well worn, doors that need painting) than we had anticipated, but we knew we'd be out most of the day so it suited it's purpose. We did have an issue with the cleanliness of the house, thankfully Kristen did work with us on that; whenever I rent a house I assume the house will be appropriately cleaned before a new guest arrives. Overall our stay was fine, and Kristen and Bob are very nice people, but I think if we come back to Asheville we will look for a newer, more modern rental property.

Great Property!

This is a great cabin with a fantastic view. Bob and Kristen were both very helpful with recommendations and also easy to reach for rides up and down the mountain. Sadly, Bert was missing but we had plenty of fun exploring the land and enjoying the hammock swings. And you can't beat a hot tub with a view!

Beautiful private space in the mountains!

This was a GREAT location to get away and enjoy the mountain view! Getting up the mountain was an adventure in itself, but well worth the bumpy drive! The cabin is situated with one of the best views that you could ask for and it was nice to be away from all the hustle and bustle of Asheville. The cabin was very clean and had most everything that you might need and had a very spacious outdoor area to relax on both the balcony and on the mountaintop. This was perfectly centrally located for all of our activities for hiking in Grandfather Mountain, rappelling Big Bradley, and exploring the Biltmore. I would definitely stay there again!!

Park like setting on a mountaintop! Clean, well maintained, world class views, and they love dogs.

Kristen met us at the bottom of the mountain and we followed her up in our 4x4. She showed us the property, which is really beautiful. Our cabin was clean and simple. Mr. Bert the Emu was unavailable, he's gone on a walk-about, so I'll be making banana bread and muffins when we get home. Thank you Kristen! Our weekend was relaxing, perfect all around! Kathleen

Excellent Property

My wife and I enjoyed two nights at this property. It is very clean and well kept, even better than is shown in the photos on here. The view is absolutely fantastic and there is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy around the rental. Definitely have a good 4 wheel drive vehicle if you plan on driving up; it is literally on top of a mountain. I'd highly recommend this property and would stay here again.

Wonderful weekend getaway

My husband and I have stayed at MANY vacation rentals. From cabins, to B&B's, hotels, etc... This has been, BY FAR, the best stay. The views are even better in person and the owners are wonderful. A few other things to point out: only about 5 mins from a main highway, clean, VIEWS, as I mentioned, PLENTY of flat spaces for kids or dogs to play, walking trails, and more. This will be our go to from now on.

Breath taking views, privacy

Bob is a wonderful host, we did not have a vehicle capable of making it to the cabin, he drove us up and down the mountain several times daily. Bob also gave us recommendations on where to eat and spend our free time. My daughter and I had the most wonderful time, sharing the experience of Asheville and surrounding areas. Thanks Bob. P.S. Challenge yourself, walk up the mountain once. I believe Bob said it is 1000 feet of elevation change in 1 mile.

Nice place for some R&R

This place is great for some R&R. We weren't blessed with great weather (high winds, rain, and some snow) but it was still enjoyable. If you're looking to go do "this and that" around town then probably not the best place for you. If you're looking to relax and enjoy the mountains then this place is all you'll need. Bob was extremely helpful and even though I had 4x4 he drove us up for our last night after spending the day in Asheville because it was supposed to snow and coming down probably would've been dangerous (he puts chains on his 4Runner). All you have to do is give him a heads up on when you'll need a ride and he's more than happy. In dry weather you can probably make it up in 2wd, but just let Bob drive you because you'll create ruts and bumps going up in 2wd. The place was clean and has the essentials. It's no 5 star resort, but it serves it's purpose well. Would definitely recommend and will try to come back, hopefully with better weather to enjoy it more the next time! Also, Bert is a pretty cool addition. And Bob gives great restaurant recommendations.

SPECTACULAR VIEWS with everything we could have wanted and more

This little gem was such a pleasure to stay at. Bob was extremely friendly and accomodating. The weather was snowing and a bit icey so even though we had a 4x4 vehicle we didn't have the chains necessary for the ice so Bob was kind enough to accomodate us going up and down from the cabin as often as we needed. He lives on the property which is great if you need anything. Feeding Bert banannas all weekend was a highlight as well. He owns the top of that mountain. So funny to have an Emu running around. The grounds are fully equipped with multiple fire pits, chairs, pic nic tables, hot tubs, grills, etc. The inside is spacious and just right for a cabin getaway in the mountains. You won't regret staying here. We can't wait to go back!
