We had a great time, and the property is a great value considering the location! When we return to Raystown again, this will be the first rental property we search for.
This cottage was great for my large family (4 adults & 6 children). We loved that it was so close to a cove. If we were not down at the water we were out on the covered deck playing games or relaxing outside. This place is wonderful!! We will definitely be returning!
My husband was doing a job in the area with his brothers and nephews. This cabin perfectly suited their needs; it was clean and comfortable and the guys loved being able to relax around the firepit at the end of the day and listen to the owls and wildlife. They cooked all their meals at the cabin and enjoyed themselves thoroughly! Even managed to get in a little bit of fishing at the end of the road.
For the past few years we make a point to stay at Andrus Cottage, "Turtle Cove" to us .
Plenty of space inside and out along with ample kitchenware.
My family just loves it and are always homesick for days after we return home.
Affordable. A bit remote, short walk or bike ride to the lake. Only one set up bunk beds instead of two as listed. Wi-Fi is a bit slow for teenage demands but otherwise great stay.
Our neighbors took us on a weekend trip to explore Raystown Lake. Our family is new to Central PA. We had a great time. The house was larger than we expected and had everything we could need. The cove was very nice, quiet and secluded. We couldn't get much fishing done however, as the teenagers took it over for swimming! We really enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer.
Our family stayed for our yearly week vacation and had an amazing time. The house and property were just as described. We sat by the fire and enjoyed the quiet and nature. The walk to the cove is not to far. It is a great spot to fish and just enjoy nature. If you are up for it, there is a great trail that takes you out to a bigger open area that is an amazing swim spot. We found lots to do out in town, just a short drive down the mountain. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.
Great place and great location…short walk to the water and a short drive to the Snyder Run boat launch. Our family had a great week! Thanks for hosting us well!
The house and location was excellent we loved it there we will try to get it again next year we hope we made a lot of new memories that will last forever
Fun and quiet cabin-like setting just a few mins walk from a Raytown Lake cove. A small stream runs in front of property that provides a light and relaxing sound of running water. Fantastic fire pit and stocked firewood await evening campfire fun. If you want to unwind and relax, this is the place to be. Lisa was a great host and provided easy instructions for use of rental.
Me and eight of my friends stayed in this cabin for a visit to Raystown Lake. The layout of the cabin was a little strange, but it had everything we needed and the owners usually responded to our questions in less than a day. The cove was a short (less than five minute) walk away, and worked well as a shoving-off point for rafts and canoes. I would definitely recommend this cabin for groups of families or friends of up to ten people.

Pretty area
The area is nice. Great sunrises at the park just up the road a drive. Great sunsets there as well as at the end of the walking path up the hill.
The walk to put kayaks in the lake is a bit rough and when you get there it’s not easily accessible due to metal railings.
They provided plenty of dry wood for camp fires. The lot is beautiful and very spacious. Grassy but well maintained. A little creek runs right along the property.
However, one thing we all need in the mountains to make our phones work… at all …..is good internet, and the internet at this house was sketchy at best. Also, my brothers car almost couldn’t make it out of the driveway as it is very steep. So better to have a vehicle that can take a fairly steep grade like a four wheel drive.
All in all I would probably return, except for the poor internet.
We rented the property for a short three day trip. We were looking to explore the area, and do some fishing. Walk to the cove isn’t bad but you cannot drive down will have to walk kayaks, paddle boards, etc. Only about a five minute walk if that. The cove itself is beautiful there is a small walking trail along the edge and water was super clean. Water temperature was also 77 as it was still mid June I wasn’t sure how cold it would be but it was perfect. House has everything you need, including a propane grill. Kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, plates, cups, etc. House was a good size, you could definitely sleep the amount of people that they say in the ad. Yard was nicely mowed and plenty of space for a fire or games with the kids. Also if you are bringing a boat, there is plenty of room to park but you may have to use four-wheel-drive to get up the driveway as it’s pretty steep. Would definitely recommend to other people looking to explore the area and I will definitely be going back. Never even saw the owners, and They were very responsive when asking questions.
Smooth process, great owners to work with, clean and spacious property. Had an amazing weekend with friends and will be the first place I check for availability when returning to the area
My family and I really enjoyed our stay. The beds were very comfortable. We had a camp fire on a couple of occasions. The kitchen is well equipped. The property has two fireplaces. We will definitely rent the property again when we return to Raystown Lake area!
Very nice and communicative owner. The small cove nearby was very nice and peaceful. Good location to drive to the larger Raystown lake beach and eating areas.
