Fair Warning

There should be more warning provided regarding the uneven steps that are required to be used constantly, given that there is no bathroom on the main floor with the kitchen and seating area. Also, the only TV is on the top floor through a slanted hallway with 2 small bedrooms, making it difficult to watch anything. Finally, there was an ant infestation in the kitchen. The house is very expensive given the mediocre condition and issues I mentioned.

Nautilus stay

The Nautilus was a great place to stay. I was disappointed we couldn't get to the south beach. That's where we like to go on the beach and so much is under restoration. Hopefully it will be open where we can get there Friday

The Nautilus

The Nautilus was perfect for our family of 10. Plenty of places for the kids to play games, hang out and an easy walk for them to the beach. We loved the unusual design of the house. Perfect for us, and loved the location at the southern end of the peninsula, close to the wilderness preserve and fewer people. We hope to re-book for next year.

The most unique and well thought out beach home ever!

You will feel the merriment of so many previous gatherings that have graced this home the minute you walk in. Brilliantly designed to keep the beach out of the house by entering through the showers and leaving laundry downstairs to allowing the kids and grownups their own separate spaces. We look forward to more rewarding visits to DeBordieu and fun yet peaceful stays at The Nautilus.

The Nautilus

We love The Nautilus and have stayed there several times. It's a very unique house that fits our casual lifestyle. The bedroom on the 3rd floor does not cool well, but there are plenty of other beds. We hope to stay there again! The week we were there a new house was being constructed across the street and the pilings were being banged down all day which literally shook the house, interrupted our peace and quiet, was very noisy plus smelly because of the equipment. It's too bad this could not be done during the off season or that people could not be warned about this interruption of peace and quiet.

OK

We love DeBordieu and would like to book time for next summer, but we aren't interested in staying at the nautilus again. While it was great to have so much sleeping capacity, we felt like there is deferred maintenance and updating that really should be done. The stove made preparing every meal a complete chore. The driveway is in desperate need of repairing.

Great house in the trees

This is an amazing home, that took, quite frankly, a little time to figure out. There are two series of stairs - blue and green - with some rooms connecting in the middle. The outside shower also connects to the house. It was well equipped. It took awhile to find the 4th bathroom (it's in the shower) but convenient when coming back from the beach (which is a very short walk). There are lots of stairs, which is sometimes challenging for the elderly. It would be nice to have a King bed (vs Queen) and a shower in the bathroom shared by two bedrooms upstairs (it was tub only). It is well equipped - from kitchen to games. And it's obviously well-loved. We enjoyed our stay! Thank you

The Nautilus, 1272 Debordieu Blvd.

Though this is a well-built home, we found red mildew on shower curtain, power receptacle in bathroom not working, windows could use a squeegee, general lack of floor cleanliness, dusty, dirty mop head that was useless for cleaning floors, one bedroom rendered useless with insufficient air conditioning. Mosquitos swarmed, had to purchase citronella candles and torches to sit out on deck. Owners might consider rearranging top master to include one king bed. Overall dirty, therefore uncomfortable.

Nautilus Review

As a family this wonderful Swiss family Robinson home was such a joy to spend the week in- we were at home immediately. I would suggest the owners place king beds where the queen beds are- that is my only wish of something different. The peace rental offer for carts/bikes/ umbrellas/etc and a credit of $350.00 was not used as we did not need anything. I wish that there was a way to opt out when we booked the Nautilus- it should not be automatically billed and non- negotiable. It should be an offering for everyone to participate in or not. The fact that this was a dog friendly home was the main reason we selected it- so thank you! The hammock room was the magic touch- loved all the special areas and there was not a bad view in the house. So wonderfully done to fit in with the natural habitat. Great access to beach - could hear the waves crashing! Mike

DeBordieu Colony

The Nautilus was as advertised. Great location within DeBordieu. Kelsey at Peace Vacations did a great job communicating with us. Disappointed that the owner never got back to us about whether we could use the fireplace, especially since there were some days in the 30's. I also think the kitchen and family room could use a more thorough cleaning. DeBordieu Club surprised us with instituting an additional $200 per day usage fee(which was their right to do) for using any club facilities including golf and dining, effective January 1st, months after we signed the lease. So rather than pay the $200/day, we chose to travel 20 mins each way to use the fitness club and tennis courts in Litchfield and played golf and dined on Pawleys Island when those facilities existed on the grounds of DeBordieu. If you are interested in being nearer to a fitness club, tennis, golf, shopping or dining, I recommend you rent on Pawleys Island or in Litchfield. While we enjoyed visiting the area, the beauty of DeBordieu Colony is not sufficient enough to compensate for the extra driving time for activities, shopping or dining.

Excellent

We thoroughly enjoyed this home! There are a few things that would be awesome to have - better outdoor lighting at the parking area and car port area; a better solution to the shower curtains in the 2 bathrooms ( the shower pan is too shallow and the curtain is too short to keep water in);a shower option in the 'tub only' bathroom is necessary given that there are 2 bedrooms at that end of the house. Also, it's great to have a wifi router option but a booster is needed for the end of the home where the 2 primary bedrooms are. Lastly, there are a ton of stairs and I don't recall that included in the description - that needs to be emphasized. The very very top small bedroom above the primary rooms somehow needs more venting or it's own mini split A/C. It is very hot and the current venting barely blows cool or cold air. There is a floor fan but all that did was blow hot air.Lastly, when we arrived the flooring was pretty dusty/sandy and didn't feel so clean. Everything else was clean. Please note we did have such a great time and found the house to be really a fun addition to our family trip! We especially loved the location! Thank you!!

We enjoyed our week at the beach. The Nautilus was comfortable and family friendly. Very good stocked kitchen! Wonderful outside changing room and shower that served our group well. The third floor bedroom did not cool, so it was not used. Very clean and comfortable!

Good

The house is very unique indeed. It feels like a treehouse. My grandchildren loved it. There is lots of room to spread out so we didn't feel like we were on top of one another. However, the photos on line of the property should be updated. The driveway borders on dangerous. The grounds are so overgrown that the house does not get a breeze on the deck or any porches, and the only view of the ocean is from the crows nest. Additionally, there is no beach at that end of the island due to the erosion issue. Luckily, our tent company set us up at the Beach Club, which salvaged the situation. Although we had a great week, I would not rent this house again.

Great beach house for family.

We had a wonderful week in your beach house. Worked very well with teens. Lots of separate spaces to relax and enjoy. Well located.
