Affordable Cottage Steps Away From Lake Avalon

This up north cabin gives you access to pristine Lake Avalon. It's just a three block walk away from a sandy beach access. The cabin offers a secluded feeling surrounded by trees but still close to the lake.
This is a great rental for multiple purposes.

In the summer stay here to be near the lake without the high cost of lake frontage or to have a home base while you sight see beautiful Northern Michigan. In the fall stay here to hunting or go ATVing on the numerous trails near by. In the winter use those trails for snowmobiling. There is plenty of parking for ATV/snowmobile trailers.

The cabin comfortably sleeps 4 with the two bedrooms but can accommodate a blow up mattress in the living room if you're not afraid of close quarters. Plenty of space in the back yard to put up a tent if needed.
The owners are near by if needed throughout the stay. Let them know if you have any special requests. They are more than happy to accommodate.


Cabin comes with wifi and a fire stick to watch streaming services. No cable TV.

Cute little place

Cute place perfect for our short stay. The only difficulty was parking, because we had 2 full size trucks and trailers. Owner was great at communicating and letting us know what was going on.

Perfect Location for our Family Reunion

The cottage was exactly what we were looking for when at the last minute we decided to attend our 418 strong family reunion. The location was convenient to everything we needed and had all the amenities. The lake is beautiful. Sat on the deck one morning and was serenaded by the mourning doves and loons, what an amazing song! If you are looking for a nice getaway in this area, this place is definitely what you are looking for!

This was our second vacation here. Like the first time, booking was efficient and painless. Price was just fine. Communication was perfect and prompt. We spent 80% of our time in the cabin. Everything thing worked, very clean, very comfortable. Can’t ask for more than this.

Budget-friendly lodging just steps from an amazing lake!

We are repeat guests at this cozy home 3 blocks from Lake Avalon, which we consider the best swimming lake we have ever found! Alysa is the perfect host: attentive, accommodating and always happy to help. The cottage has received upgraded bedding and appliiances which have escalated the property from "rustic" to "classy country". The property is beautifully maintained and the house is very clean. The updates in the kitchen helped a lot, and we really appreciated the efforts of the homeowners to make the rear deck a wonderful place for morning coffee. I can't say enough good things about this small, cozy budget-friendly home!

Great stay

We were up in the area from Ohio. We attended the Sno*drift performance stage rally. We didn’t get to the cabin till late at night, maybe around 11. We found we had a small problem with the cabin. Alysa pickup the phone right away even thought it was late. Ted was there the next morning to fix the problem. Really seems like they care, that was nice. 100% recommend. Would definitely stay again.

Clean, Close to Thunderbay Elk Viewing

We booked because of the elk viewing at Thunder Bay Resort. We came with a second couple. I didn't want to book at the resort for the 2 night minimum and stay for one. I was seriously surprised by this place. They have all of the essentials. Before you go to the store, check the cabin. The place is immaculately kept. Plus (bonus) it was way cheaper than a hotel because there were two bedrooms. If you stay in this area, book the room. I will. For sure.

My husband and I have deep roots to Lake Avalon and the Hillman area. We bought this cabin for a multitude of reasons but right now we are enjoying renting it out to vacationers.
We live nearby in Alpena but spend as much time on Lake Avalon as we possibly can. My husband, Ted, is an electrician and I, Alysa, work at a title company in Alpena. We have one wild and darling daughter, Ava, and another on the way. They are joined by our huge black lab Boomer.
We love hosting renters and are only a call/text away in you need anything from us during, before, or after your stay.

Why they chose this property

We pride ourselves on offering the most affordable rental property in the area. This cabin is cozy and offers the 'up north' feeling that you want while you visit northern Michigan. You can't get a hotel with two separate room, a kitchen, and a private back porch overlooking the woods for this price. We try to make our guest feel welcome and always ask if there are any special requests we can fulfill. If you're looks to get some lake time, just get away, or be near family for a cheap price, we are the cabin for you!
