‘The Haven at Bluffton’ is a beautiful A-frame style home with over 3600 square feet of living space. This 3 level home sits right on the Muskegon Channel with 68 feet of lagoon/channel frontage with room to dock a boat (or two). The amazing views and both the indoor and outdoor spaces make this a very special place to be.

This beautiful home features two full kitchens, an open living area, family room, two fireplaces, five bedrooms and three full baths. Central air throughout. The master suite features a king size bed and private bath and is located on the third level with a separate sitting area and balcony overlooking the living area below. The second floor has a full kitchen with wood floors, dining area, large family room with fireplace and two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a twin and a community bathroom. Off of the main living area is a large deck with ample seating for dining or just hanging out and taking in the fabulous views. The ground level floor offers another full kitchen, dining area, and living room with a fireplace, bathroom and two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a full bed and a twin bed. There is more and ample outdoor dining space on the ground floor patio. Sleeping a total of 10 in beds/bedrooms, we also have a high-end memory foam queen sofa sleeper in the ground floor living room for a total of 12 sleeping surfaces. With over 3600 sq. ft. of living space, there is plenty of room to spread out for privacy or gather in our comfy community areas. With large windows to enjoy the views, tasteful decorations, and fully stocked amenities and linens, you will enjoy all the comforts of home and, most likely, a bit more.

For outdoor living, The Haven has it all. We have a large deck off the second floor living area overlooking the yard and channel, a large patio below that deck and a fantastic wood deck adjacent to the lagoon/channel that offers close-up views of the channel and fishing. The decks and patio have ample seating and dining areas available to enjoy beautiful sunsets and outdoor breezes. We also have a fire ring, gas grill and cute little sitting areas scattered around the property. The landscaped yard is lush and meticulously maintained and is a pleasure to stroll through.

The waterfront deck has a boat well and docking cleats so you can bring your boat, or rent one nearby. Whether you are relaxing inside, or enjoying our outdoor space, you are going to love your get-a-way of waterfront views! Enjoy the continuous parade of watercraft as they travel through the channel. We have some of the biggest ships in the Great Lakes region passing through, truly a sight to behold.

The home is located in the Bluffton area of Muskegon, nestled on a peninsula between the channel and a marina/beach. We have two beaches within walking distance. Pere Marquette Park boasts 2.4 miles of clean beach along Lake Michigan and Harbourtowne Beach is just a stone’s throw away and sits on the shore of Muskegon Lake. Parking at all beaches and parks is now metered.

We have two terrific restaurants in the area. Dockers is just across the road and sits right on Harbourtowne Marina. They seat both indoor and outdoor dining and offer live entertainment most evenings and Sunday afternoons. The Deck sits right on Pere Marquette Beach just north of the pier and has quickly become a destination spot with great food and on-the-beach entertainment most nights. The revitalized Downtown Muskegon area is about a 10 minute drive with lots of unique dining options available. The area offers many parks and trails, bike paths and nature areas, piers and lighthouses, we are always happy to make recommendations on things to do in West Michigan.

We invite you to come visit our fresh water wonderland here in Bluffton. With The Haven serving as your home base, you'll create wonderful Lake Michigan vacation memories that will last a lifetime!

Amazing House and View
This house did not disappoint, it was perfect for our group. Plenty of room for everyone with the two kitchens, ample outdoor space, and bedrooms. House was well equipped with everything you would imagine. Would love to stay here again if a trip ever brings us back to Muskegon!

Great Landing spot for Events
This was an excellent place for a "landing spot" for family and friends for a major family event. With people arriving and leaving at various times but everyone wanting to have quality time with each other around the event, The Haven at Bluffton worked perfectly! Lots of comfortable space for everyone. Great memories of your family event are waiting to be created here!

Wonderful family vacation
We had a wonderful time here for our annual trip to Michigan. The house was perfect for our four young boys, our parents, and sister and nephew. We loved watching all the boats and did lots of fishing on the deck and boardwalk. There was plenty of space in the house so that we didn't feel cramped and everything was extremely clean and organized. We appreciated the well stocked kitchens and bathrooms, and having a second kitchen and refrigerator was very convenient. The backyard was the perfect size for yard games and a campfire, and the sunsets were beautiful! The location is terrific and we made the short walk to the Muskegon Lake beach several times. The Pere Marquette beach was also fun with bigger waves! This was definitely at the top of our favorite vacation spots and we hope to come back!

Perfect for a Family Vacation
This was a very comfortable and well stocked home for our extended family. Our young son really enjoyed his downstairs kid's room and there was plenty of room for 7 adults. The main level kitchen is beautiful and well stocked and the open floor-plan helped to make the home never feel crowded. We love all of the things that Muskegon and western Michigan have to offer, and hope to visit again soon.

Perfect location for a relaxing family trip
Had a great first time visit to the area and loved it. We had 3 young families staying here together and the 3 floors made it work really well since we all get up at various times. I've stayed in a lot of rental homes and this was. Y far the best stocked house I have stayed at. They have everything you need for your visit. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful place on the water...and Ed was super helpful before and during our stay.

Great Family Vacation
This was a great house for our extended family trip! The house was very well furnished and had everything we needed and then some. Enjoyed sitting on the deck having my morning coffee and watching the boats and wildlife. We enjoyed the area with the close beaches and restaurants. A ride on the Silver Lake dunes with Mac Woods was enjoyed by everyone, the more adventurous rented our own sand buggies and had a memorial time. Ed was great dealing with and made everything easy and hassle free

Perfect Family Vacation Home
We had my wife and myself, two adult kids and their spouses, and two grandkids 5 and 2. Everyone had plenty of private space and there was lots of common area space. Two full kitchens was a bonus for the early risers. Kids loved fishing off the back yard dock (no-miss with worms) and the beach was only a very short walk away. We docked our rental boat on our lake day (super convenient to load and pick up passengers). We had a great time. Chuck and Kathy have an awesome property and are magnificent hosts!

The Haven at Bluffton - Absolutely fabulous!
The Haven at Bluffton was the perfect place for our family of 13 (8 adults and 5 children - 2 yrs of age to 7). The house is beautiful, the location is fabulous, and there was plenty of rooms and space for everyone. Having 2 kitchens and 2 living rooms is a huge bonus, and the house is extremely well stocked with plenty of everything. We made the most of our time at the two very close beaches, fishing from the backyard patio/dock area, and enjoying all of the sitting places to watch the many boats, freighters, and cruise ships pass through the channel. We stayed at The Haven for a week and none of us were ready to leave. Giving The Haven at Bluffton a 5 star rating is an understatement -- the place (and the hosts) are fabulous!

Early summer visit
Our group of 7 visited this property for 5 nights in early June 2019. The property was wonderful. It was fully stocked for our needs (sheets, blankets, towels, kitchenware), very clean, within walking distance to points of interest in the area, l and, while beautiful in the online photos, was truest amazing in person. Had one minor issue with a shower during our stay that was immediately addressed by the property manager. Our kids loved watching the boats pass by on the channel as well. Stop looking at other properties and book your stay here.

Channel property
Our family from around the glide gathered for a week of fun and reconnecting. The house was large and comfortable enough for everyone’s liking. It came fully equipped with anything you could possibly want or need. The decks and yard space allowed for us to relax with stunning views of the deep water channel yet close to sugar sand beaches and glorious Lake Michigan. The only downside was it went by too fast!

Great place to meet as a family!
We brought our whole family together in Muskegon. There were 6 adults and 7 kids ages 8 and under. The kids had a great time and the property manager, Ed, took great care of us. There were toys, stuffed animals, books and even bikes for the kids. Seeing the little ones Ed even had someone bring over a tricycle! The kids loved watching the boats in the channel, particularly when the Ferry would pass; and I tied up my Macgregor 26 sailboat right in front. It was close to museums and beaches, and everyone had a great time!

Wonderful !
We were so happy when we arrived. Incredible house with plenty of room on three floors for our family of 8. We loved all the places to relax, the closeness to the beautiful beach on Lake Michigan, two beautiful kitchens fully stocked with kitchenware, sheets and towels provided, lots of extras like bikes and beach chairs. So accommodating. We used the fire pit for s’mores. Great restaurants nearby. Very clean and comfortable. We loved it and want to return ! The Robinsons. July 2019

Absolutely beautiful.
The pics on this website do not do this house justice. It's absolutely beautiful. There were 10 adults and 3 kids and there was plenty of room. The house is definitely Fully Stocked. It has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Pretty views from the backyard. You can fish right off the deck. Then beach is very close and very clean. We all had the best time. We are looking forward to coming back next year. Ed was wonderful to deal with.

Pure Michigan
The MI home was the most beautiful, well maintained home we’ve rented. Literally, we wanted for nothing—the bathrooms, laundry, and kitchen were well stocked. We really took advantage of the double kitchens and literally never went out to eat. The location was absolutely beautiful and so entertaining as boats large and small paraded by. We purchased day fishing licenses and fished off our private dock. Kathy and Chuck provided excellent service. The place was exceptionally clean. The pictures don’t do it justice. It was a 10 star experience!

Fantastic property! Perfect for a relaxed family vacation.
The Haven was awesome and we couldn't have dreamed of a better setup for our family reunion. Numerous places for group gatherings and lots of places for individual quiet time as well. Having kitchens of both levels was especially convenient. Tastefully decorated with very nice furnishings and well stocked kitchens. The fire pit was great for campfires and smores. We had some minor, normal issues in the bathroom but Ed was extremely responsive and had it repaired quickly. I would highly recommend this property to others. Fantastic location to watch the boats and ferry come through the channel but also very close to the big lake. We definitely plan on coming back. Thank you for a great week!

Everything we expected and more.
The property had a designer look. Simply beautiful. It had everything that was advertised in the write up. In addition, the owner provided everything you would need not including food, avoiding a trip to the store for things like dishwasing liquid, laundry detergent, spices. Houseware that met all of our needs; hosting a 75th birthday party and a baby shower. The site is wonderful, close to Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake. The channel provided boating and fishing entertainment for all of us. A perfect week.

Superb Summer Getaway for The Goryls
This was our 2nd summer to enjoy a week at The Haven at Bluffton with our 2 daughters, sons-in-laws and granddaughters!! The house is expansive, beautifully decorated and well-equipped for large groups of family and friends!! The boat traffic on the Channel keeps everyone's attention, young and old alike!!! The boat slip made it possible for us to have our boat on-site and we used it several time a day to hit the Big Lake, as well as smaller beaches on Muskegon Lake. Fun restaurants are close by, as is Pere Marquette Beach!! Evening s'more campfires and sunset walks on the Pier make this a perfect spot for our family of 9!!! Bottom line... WE LOVED IT!!!! 5 Stars all the way!!!!!

Beautiful home, perfect location!
This home is very well equipped (2 full kitchens, each fully stocked with cookware and dishware), and beautifully decorated. One of the bedrooms on the first floor even has a selection of children’s toys, games, and books, which was a bonus for my toddler boys (also a set of bicycles outside, including cool handmade trike). Another good thing for toddlers was that the top of the staircase to the second floor has a full door that can be closed to help alleviate fear of kids falling downstairs in a new place. One of the bathtubs has jets/jacuzzi, so nice! The beds were comfortable, and the a/c worked great! We rented a pontoon and docked it at the house all week no problem. It was such a treat to watch the boat traffic crusing through the channel. The house is walking distance to submarine museum, park, beach, lighthouse, and deck restaurant. Absolutely excellent experience for our first family vacation to Lake Michigan!

Great Return Stay
Our family (six adults and four children under 9) enjoyed a return visit for another wonderful summer vacation at The Haven in Bluffton,. The home is spacious to easily accommodate our family groups. It was really nice having two kitchens, both fully stocked with all the dishware and cooking equipment needed. We brought paper plates and bowls for snacks and some meals to save on washing dishes. Other paper goods (towels, tissues, t.p.) were well stocked in closets throughout the house. The large grassy backyard was perfect for playing games and sitting around the fire to cook S'mores and tell stories. The kids enjoyed the family "fishing derby" from the deck. The dock was convenient for a one-day pontoon rental. We had four great days at the Harbour Towne Beach and one day at Pere Marquette Beach. Beach chairs are provided in a bin on the deck along the channel, though we brought some of our own. The provided collapsible beach wagon is helpful for hauling gear to the nearby beach. Some of us drove our cars this short distance, just for the convenience of hauling chairs, beach bags, inflatables, and lunch coolers. (We brought our own floats and rafts) Note: there is a parking fee for this lot and we all bought a season pass, which is also good for the Pere Marquette beach and visiting The Deck restaurant. Parking lot attendants are checking cars regularly at both areas. Our kids and grandkids all agree that this was a perfect place to enjoy our beach vacation!

Great Family Vacation
We stayed a week at the house and it was wonderful. We brought our adult children and 4 grandkids, ages 4, 5, 6, and 9. They loved it and two of them cried when we left. The house was spacious enough for our 10 people. It is very well stocked with anything you may need. We rented a boat for the week and had so much fun tubing. Thank you to Ed for the suggestion of where to rent. The kids all loved fishing right off of the deck. My biggest concern was how far beach was. To my surprise it was right down the block. It was very clean and not overly crowded. We were there almost daily. The only thing about the house I would change is the amount of breakable decor that is throughout the entire house. We moved some of it out of the way so we would have no accidents with the kids, which thankfully, we did not. Other than that, a perfect stay. Ed, the property manager is great. He responds quickly to emails and was very welcoming and hospitable. I would recommend this house for a great time.

Perfect Cottage for large family
We had seven adults plus a 2 & 4 year old and a toddler. We all felt very comfortable. The ground floor has two bedrooms, a kitchen, leading area, living room and bath and a walk out to a covered patio. Second floor has two bed rooms, large living room eat in kitchen and a bath, with a large deck overlooking the channel. The third floor has a bath and bedroom. The place was fully furnished and more than enough seating inside or on the patio, the deck or the boat dock / deck on the channel. A short walk to one of the nicest beaches on Lake Michigan or a small beach on Lake Muskegon. The Change connects the two lakes and there is a small inlet inside the channel to pull in your boat. Ducks, turtles, birds and a muskrat all played in the inlet. Short walk to the two beaches, a local marina and a dockside restaurant (Dockers), a submarine museum and a retired Coast Guard Cutter. There is another restaurant on the beach on Lake Michigan. Lake Muskegon is also connected to Bear Lake so you can easily boat on three different lakes in a single day. Across the channel you have access two beaches on Lake Michigan and Muskegon as well as sand dunes to explore. If you don't have a boat it is an easy 20 minute ride through North Muskegon. Downtown Muskegon is coming alive with restaurants and breweries. On an overcast day, we took the kids to a downtown children museum while my wife saw great photo exhibit by Edward Schiller nearby. We found plenty to do on land and sea and sat around the decks and fire pit at night. Would highly recommend. Ed was a great host and very helpful.

About the host

Hosted by Chuck and Kathy

Host profile image
Chuck and Kathy are both West Michigan natives. Chuck grew up in Whitehall and Kathy was born and raised just a few miles away in Lakeside. We have lived in many different areas of the country but have found that Muskegon and West Michigan is simply "home" and has much to offer year round. We are local and available during your stay should you need us. We are always happy to offer suggestions and answer questions about our lovely area and things to do.

Why they chose this property

Unique location, ample size to spread out, tastefully decorated. We have provided all the comforts of home and more. Amazing indoor and outdoor living. The wonderful sandy beaches and friendly community will welcome you. The boat traffic through the channel is like watching a constant water parade. The Haven at Bluffton is a boater, sailor, fishing, and beach goers delight.

What makes this property unique

Bring your boat and dock it along our deck in the lagoon. We have a boat well for easy on/off the boat and tie cleats. The smell of fresh water breezes, the boat traffic on the channel, the fog horn in the distance on low visibility days, and seeing the joy of all those in the area knowing they are in a very special part of the world. The Haven is a very peaceful and special place.
